Interesting Facts

Karl Lagerfeld was one of the most influential and prolific fashion designers of the 20th century. Born in 1933, the photographer, fashion designer, and creative genius celebrated his massive successes with his creations in the haute couture and prêt-à-porter sectors.

The fashion czar's first artistic creations were launched as early as 1974. He created the fruity-floral perfume "Chloé for Women" a year later with "Chloé", the French luxury fashion house. Other fragrances followed from 1978 including the women's fragrances "Sun Moon Stars" (1994) and "Femme" (2000), along with numerous men's fragrances "Lagerfeld Photo" (1990), "Jako" (1997) and "Lagerfeld Man" (2002).

The brand "Karl Lagerfeld" was publicly perceived as luxurious and opulent, therefore, it made a fresh start in 2014 with "Karl Lagerfeld Pour Homme" for men and "Karl Lagerfeld" for women. Further unique releases followed in 2018, which ultimately merged into the collection "Les parfums matières".

Karl Lagerfeld launched 40 perfumes with more than 20 perfumers between 1975 and 2022. The fragrances appeared under their name, but were sometimes commissioned works for other labels such as "Unilever", "Coty", "Fabergé" or "H&M".

Karl Lagerfeld's timeless and artistic creations appealed to all the senses. Therefore, as a part of Karl Lagerfeld's legacy, the top-notch fragrance bottles are also sophisticated, creative, original, and innovative. In 2019, Karl passed away due to health complications.
