Creamy-and-buttery-meets-sharp sandalwood and iris
Sampling one of the two most recent releases from the US house Motif Olfactif, Eclat de Santal, a rich, creamy blend featuring several sandalwood varieties as well as iris and neroli. It’s a little sharp and a little fresh, accessible but deep and layered, seemingly, with very high-quality sandalwood and iris, to my nose. The buttery vs. sharp interplay makes for a fun experience, a unisex fragrance that feels a bit more at home when it’s cooler out since it’s quite strong and projects well, but that could be pleasant even in warmer weather since it’s quite well-rounded.
As with the rest of the house, this fragrance is very reasonably priced, at $130 for 50ml, in EDP concentration. I quite like it as it’s both artistic and, despite feeling luxurious, is fairly easy to wear.
