Nice fresh, spicy, resinous blend, highly versatile
First wearing of Eau Debonaire, one of the latest trio of Navitus Parfums releases curated by Bowtie Fragrance Guy. Right off the bat, it has the makings of a classic-meets-modern blend that leans ever so slightly masculine but is nonetheless a really pleasant mostly unisex, versatile, mostly-freshie. It has a bunch of citruses, pepper, some florals(lavender, jasmine, orange flower), benzoin, and oakmoss, with the latter elements, a sort of spicy resinous dry down, being revealed more over time. It has the benefit of being mostly safe while having some evolution, a fresh spicy mix drying down to a spicy, resinous, and even slightly sweet (perhaps via the benzoin/musk blend) departure within less than a half hour. As the fresh does last for a long time, I would not call this a freshie, but more of a transitional scent. Still, it smells sophisticated and has a good variety in the notes and genres, so it would likely work for me in different types of temperature or formality, situation-wise. It’s definitely office-safe, as Steven, Mr. Redolessence himself, notes in his YouTube review. And it performs quite well, its density being exposure with the dry down as some of the citruses fade a bit.
Like the rest of the line, Eau Debonaire’s concentration is extrait de parfum and like most of the recent entries, its pricing is a very reasonable $145 for 100ml.
I quite like this in the vein of previous Navitus releases like Aweigh and Verve Matin, very agreeable semi-fresh, crisp, somewhat fresh offerings, and this makes me want to revisit those others, as well.
