Phytotherapy up to a certain point
This fragrance makes me think of an ancient herbalist's shop where herbal teas, infusions and decoctions were produced with medicinal herbs and their scent hits you as soon as you open the door. Narjis is quite two-dimensional. You can forget the orange, it's anything but citrusy, maybe there's a bit of zest. Narcissus is the centerpiece of the fragrance and reaches the nostrils moments after spraying the perfume. Angelica, with its odor reminiscent of liquorice, is evanescent. The vanilla and bergamot notes listed by Parfumo do not belong to the list of notes declared by the manufacturer regarding this fragrance. Notes of osmanthus and ylang ylang are used only as nuances. After a few minutes, a dark vetiver joins the protagonist, called narcissus, and almost in unison a subtle iris and a little white musk are perceived. At this stage the scent is earthy, green, but with a clean background. After about two hours a type of sandalwood emerges more and more which makes the fragrance take a different direction, making it progressively sweeter, a little too much. A perfume suitable for all lovers of days spent outdoors or in the herbalist's shop. They could have saved me the sandal, it's off topic.

Exude yourself..
On the road by rental car through the south of Morocco. Arrival in Taroudant. We have been driving through stony deserts all day and are now entering an extensive oasis-like garden on an old country estate, criss-crossed by narrow, slightly overgrown paths and with a somewhat dilapidated, crumbling fountain. The sun shines from a deep blue sky, but the ground temperatures are still quite cool in March. The grass is a lush green, the orange trees bear bright, bitter fruit and flower buds, and I can smell their dark green leaves. In the grass, countless small yellow hoop daffodils bloom and exude their lovely green scent. Latifa shows us to our room in one of the old buildings. The walls are plastered with Tadelakt in bright colors, orange and turquoise, polished smooth and shiny with stones. Rays of sunlight shine through the small windows, the light flickers. It is rather fresh here too. What is that subtle, mysterious scent in here too? I keep noticing something flowery, woody and soapy: there are three sandalwood incense sticks in a fresh orange on the windowsill...
-----
This is the scene with its sensual impressions that Narjis takes me back to. The inspiration for the fragrance was not in Morocco at all, but in the mountains above Montreux, on the so-called "Montreux Riviera", where millions of daffodils bloom on a plateau every spring. Unfortunately, I've never been there. It must be an incredible experience when the yellow and white daffodils fill the meadows with their scent. And they do so in an absolutely lavish way - holding nothing back, calculating nothing...
When the delicate flowers unfurl, they will fade again quite quickly, but until then they exude. They can't close again either, that's not how it's meant to be, once they've blossomed, the direction is clear. "Narjis marks a point of no return," says the homepage. Yes. To waste yourself in every direction. Exude yourself...
-----
Tart orange and bergamot form the opening, beautifully combined with spicy green-balsamic angelica. Narcissus joins in, osmanthus and ylang ylang are present but do not push themselves forward. Musk and sandalwood contribute a slightly soapy woody impression that reminds me of the aforementioned incense sticks in Morocco. In the base, I perceive greenish vetiver and iris. I don't notice the vanilla mentioned, which is fine with me, it wouldn't have fit here at all. The tart citrus and, above all, the beautiful narcissus remain present the whole time.
Nothing here is sweet, as the classification would have you believe, but green-floral, but the fragrance is not a simple fresh scent, but has great depth thanks to sandalwood and musk. Everything remains in motion and never becomes static. A spring breeze and cool, tart florality that never becomes banal or soft.

"flow flow flow move...
Unstoppable in the maelstrom of depth
Flowing in love
from heart to heart"

There is no turning back. I want to pour myself out, without any measure ... without knowing where to go...

Thanks to @UntermWert for the lovely review that drew my attention to the fragrance, and to @Annecy81 for sharing - a bottle is now on its way to me.

Spring awakening in the Orient
The sun is still low over the rooftops, the cold of the desert night has not yet disappeared.
A ray of light falls on a wash set on the bedside table, the aromas of sandalwood soap and a bouquet of flowers dance on a light breeze and fill the room with clear purity.

Narjis opens on a citrusy-tart note, with angelica forming an exciting counterpoint to orange and bergamot, like a delicate, transparent curtain through which a bouquet of flowers shimmers in a fine light. I imagine a few morning rays of sunshine in a bedchamber from the Arabian Nights. No heavy curtains, spices or fruit, but a mysterious, slightly soapy-floral scent, rather cool. The narcissus takes over the sceptre in a very exciting way, with ylang and osmanthus forming the frame. I attribute the soapy impression to musk and sandalwood, iris and vetiver then form a beautiful contrast in the base, which keeps the fragrance moving and prevents it from slipping into fluffiness. The citrusy impression also remains. But the star of the fragrance is the narcissus. I like it very much.
An unusual, beautiful fragrance that plays with contrasts, sometimes like a breath of fresh air, sometimes very subtly floral-powdery, but always a little tart, not too pleasing. Definitely not an "all-time favorite", but one that you have to get involved with.
Exciting.
I'm going to try this and Narcissus again in the spring.

Addendum: when I wear it "properly", I'll revise the rating upwards to 9... and would like to have it... I have to say it now, I think I smell extraordinarily good with it.

(with many thanks to Susan)
