The splendor of the queen
Africa is my dream destination, I have learned West African dance, tried the cuisine, watched many movies, read books. So I was immediately drawn to this little golden bottle from my perfume friend, with the silhouette of Africa on the top of the lid. however, Nefee didn't smell as spicy as I imagined Africa to be, but rather fresh and flowery. In the meantime, I've been traveling to the Himalayas and Hawaii as a fragrance traveler and had her bottle the scent for me after all. And it blew me away straight away.

The house of Scent of Africa comes from Ghana, reinvented itself in 2022 with its award-winning Eternal Legends Edition and has since created three pairs of fragrances, always a female and a male ancient deity or mythical figure together. Nefee and Rakh are the first pair. Nefee stands for the queen of Egyptian queens, Nefertiti or Nefertiti, and she is supposed to stand for the great African women, women who fight for progress and deserve to be noticed. I am thinking, for example, of Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, the first female president of Africa and Liberia, who was elected president after decades of civil war and solved her country's concrete problems on a daily basis with her cabinet, which was at least predominantly female. she was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2011. But ordinary women are also the ones from whom microcredit providers are most likely to hope for the economic development of the country. So much for the big and small queens of everyday life to whom this fragrance is dedicated. The gold stands for their beauty, their victories, their spirit and their "solid gold determination to capture hearts".

The fragrance opens strongly with a great radiance of floral and citrus scents as one, with the freshness of bergamot and pomegranate, some spiciness from red pepper and a lush bouquet of jasmine, ylang-ylang and tuberose. There is a woman in the room with a charisma that captivates me. She smiles, she is young or old, she knows what she wants, she is convincing and she radiates wisdom, warmth and love. What she wants is good for her whole family, her village, her country, for women and children and men who have the community in mind. She organizes large festivals in which the wealth of the village flows back into good food, infrastructure, cultural projects and schools for all. The splendor of flowers enchants the simple life, brings splendor, beauty and fragrance for all.

In the base with the notes vanilla, tonka. Cedar, patchouli, oakmoss, incense, finely tuned like the deeper tones of the accord, the deep wisdom, serenity, warmth of heart and creative power of this queen of everyday life opens up. A full organ sound, a piano piece, a music combo, an orchestral piece in which the melody is played by wind instruments, side instruments and percussion instruments alike, none is subordinate, each has its voice and is heard. Wood, metal, everything sounds fine together. And full of humor. The Queen's brilliance radiates out to me and the other people in the room, gilds us, makes us recognize our own beauty, gives us the courage to contribute good ideas, to improve structures.

Jasmine, tuberose and ylang-ylang have something intrusive about them. I came across something similar in the Hawaiian fragrance "Mana - Luxurious Glow | Aloha Senses Perfumes", a fragrance that knocks me out, whereas I prefer the more subtle aromas. But there, as here, the composition has something uplifting about it that inspires wonder and encourages us to widen our hearts, which are sometimes despondent in our life situations, and to dream of change, of a world that is becoming better again. Not to "make someone great again" by force, but to recognize the greatness and wisdom of the heart that is there, no matter how small, and to give them space.

I would like to get to know the other fragrances too, but they come from Ghana and are very expensive to ship. So there's another reason to visit Africa or get together as a fan community...

With many thanks to #BAP.
