Innovative, musky, fresh aquatic, among the very best of Dua
Flagship is one of my absolute favorite Duas (top 5), an original blend from 2019 that’s a super-versatile fresh, aquatic, musky, semi-sweet blend. I’ve not smelled anything like it, even with a market full of marine scents with musky, ambergris-like vibes, yet it feels comforting and familiar—overall, an effective compromise between intrigue/innovation and an immediate feeling of belonging. Plus, it effectively has a bit of a seafaring vibe while not being especially laden with salt or calone—it really has its own character and hits the mark, but its own way. And for an inherently warm-weather-leaning type of fragrance, it performs quite well and is especially dense and loud and its opening, and with great longevity throughout.
One of the early “metal plaque” releases and priced slightly above the standard Dua pricing, at $70 for 30ml (albeit with discounts), Flagship is nevertheless more worthwhile than most, both as a sort of year-round stunner signature scent but something that’s also easy to pull off in a variety of situations.
8 out of 10
