Boozy banana semi-gourmand variation of the original
Hangover with the Mobster, a Dua original blend released in 2017 and a flanker of the original Mobster from 2016 that first drew me to the Dua brand. Hangover is a boozier banana-laden variation of the original that softens the spiciness in favor of more sweetness and booze. Think less oud and patchouli, more banana liqueur, honey, and cream. It’s not a full gourmand but most of the way there, with some of the elements (tobacco and woods) of the original Mobster. It’s a very nice variation that takes some of the bite away from the original and replaces it with some gourmand, boozy elements, which I’m generally a fan of.
Hangover has gotten a lot of buzz in the years since its original since it was only available on a couple of occasions and in limited quantity, and its formula has been lost and has proven challenging for Mahsam & Co. to recreate. My main perspective on this is that Hangover, while excellent, is not my favorite version of The Mobster. I would make the case that both the original and Cannabliss with the Mobster, the dark, hashy, cannabis-laden flanker, are superior, and Dua since has released multiple banana fragrances for fans of the fruit to enjoy in place of Hangover. And An Evening with the Mobster, based on a version of Roja Enigma, is perhaps easier to wear than any of the early versions. So I’d certainly recommend that others try the original Mobster and perhaps seek out other versions if they’re able to.
Still, I feel very lucky to have this, and enjoy it occasionally as great Dua original that brings me good memories from its original release back in the day.
