A bit of a departure from the original but a well-done saffron
This is first full wearing of one of the newest original blend releases from Dua Fragrances, Flagship II, the successor to 2019’s Flagship, a fantastic fresh musky semi-sweet aquatic. Flagship II was released with the promise of it being a bit spicier and woody, and in that respect, it largely delivers, seemingly leaving much of the original Flagship behind in favor of a slightly fresh but mostly spicy blend dominated by saffron and a handful of other contributors like violet and juniper that add a lot of spice and flavor to the citrus/woody DNA of the original, along with curious additivies like sweet brandy and leather that bring the fragrance closer to a winter offering.
Overall, though, Flagship II has the feel of a flexible, year-round-friendly fragrance with saffron at the center, semi-fresh, semi-sweet, semi-floral, a nice blend of several different genres without being fully committal to any particular type. I certainly prefer the original Flagship and do not sense much continuity from the original to Flagship II, but Flagship II on its own is still a nice fragrance that, as with most Duas, performs quite well.
Unlike most Duas that are available in standard 30ml size, Flagship II is exclusively available in the larger, newer 100ml bottle size, priced at $175 with a discount of 15% or more generally available, so the pricing is fairly in line with the smaller bottle size.
