Beautiful, strong blend of several categories
Intellect Attar is a Dua Brand original blend released in 2019, one of my favorite releases from that year, a highly dense, multifaceted blend of citruses and florals, primarily, with a rich, sweet, almost boozy base of tonka, vanilla and woods. The note listing is significant but the notes for each category are relatively limited: lavender and violet for florals, grapefruit and bergamot for citruses, sandalwood and guaiac wood for woods, and then spices (tobacco, ginger, cardamom, oakmoss) and sweets (amber, vanilla, tonka, brandy). It’s slightly creamy as well, and a good balance between fresh and saturated.
Think “sweet and fruity floral with boozy, woody undertones” primarily, the best feedback that I can give being that the fragrance feels well-rounded and complete, where most of the notes do not stick out individually but feel part of something larger and greater. It’s charmingly unisex and probably versatile, though its density means that very little needs to be applied on a hot day in order to be noticed. I lean toward it being more of a formal option but on a day like today, I’m just wearing it around the house and for normal daily activities, not for a special occasion, and yet it feels like a special creation, and that might be the praise of the highest order, that even on occasions that aren’t otherwise special, the fragrance feels special.
It’s on the high end of Dua pricing, at $80 for 30ml (though there are obviously always coupons of 15% + off available), but it’s very rich and dense and the juice goes a longer way than even the standardly strong Dua stuff.
8 out of 10
