Spicy floral, with semi-metallic and leathery twinges, appropriately mysterious and interesting
One of Dua Fragrances’ latest is Mysterious Elixir, fittingly advertised in mystery but nonetheless described on the website, a sort of floral, spicy, semi-metallic, semi-smoky, semi-leathery mix featuring rose, leather, spices, and a sort of smoky burnt metal quality. It’s sophisticated but intense, powerful but nuanced, and very interesting. It’s definitely not my usual type of floral fragrance, as I do not detect too much overt sweetness to counterbalance the more biting elements, but I sense that the sweetness is there as the sharp/smoky/floral/metallic/leathery side is not overpowering to me, though I imagine it may be for some. I never recommend blind buying but Mysterious Elixir is an example that I quite like but that I especially emphasize sampling first and taking advantage of that service. There is a lot to enjoy in it but it’s a bit of a challenge and (appropriately) mystery.
Like most Duas, Mysterious Elixir performs very well, especially apt for cooler weather. It is priced roughly in the middle of the Dua range, at $65 for 30ml, and samples are available via David Venegas / Phenom Parfums, the official sample site, as well.
7 out of 10
