Late Summer Night's Dream
Here's a review of my latest discovery. I'll keep it short, because the fragrance has already inspired many here to beautiful, poetic texts, to which I have little to add. Nevertheless, I wanted to write something.
The scent starts, not surprisingly, with dry woods. Not dusty dry or lifeless, no there is warmth and definitely liveliness to it. Maybe it's the light, very slight earthy undertones? The image of Artemis in the undergrowth, so beautifully described by others here, fits well. But this copse is not a thicket, not a green jungle. It is a breezy forest at the end of summer. Autumn has not yet brought rain and there are dried plums hanging from the trees, parched from the heat of summer, spreading their warm, spicy fragrance. There is also a slight pungency, reminiscent of plum brandy. It's dusk at the edge of the forest and a warm wind enhances all the smells. The dry spiciness of cloves wafts in, immediately rounded out by beeswax, which adds a light, creamy and completely unobtrusive sweetness to the evening air.
Over time, this sweetness becomes stronger, but it always remains the soft sweetness of honey and dried fruit. The whole scent also gets softer and softer and snuggles up to the skin. Meanwhile, it reminds me of Indian rice pudding with cinnamon, cloves and other spices. And lots of honey. It's dusk by now and the dessert is being cooked in a wooden hut with beeswax candles everywhere. And the hut also crackles lightly and smells as night falls. Or is that a log in the fireplace burning completely smokeless, giving off that dry, woodsy aroma?
It's a late summer scent that tells of bountiful harvests, sunny days, and dry fields and woods. I can imagine it on cooler days, but also on a summer evening. It's beautiful, dry and soft all in one, tart and sweet combined. Spicy and dark, as if it could tell of lost magic, yet friendly and dark golden like an autumn sunbeam.

Pity chocolate
Good Girl, the perfume in the shoe. That sounds strange, I find the flacon class and had hoped that I like the fragrance. I do not know quite what I expected, but not what actually drinsteckt:
The start is very slightly citrusy, but actually we start immediately with the flowers. So he is also at the beginning not light and fresh, but immediately heavy, and just floral. I immediately smell the orange blossom, and with orange blossom and me it's such a thing. Often I love it, sometimes I find scents from which you all smell orange blossom quite awful. Here, it reminds me of "Black Opium (Eau de Parfum) | Yves Saint Laurent" and that's just how I like it: beautiful, soft, seductive - it immediately draws me into the scent, so I'm surprised to like it. (Even though, as I said, I was hoping for that with the bottle.)
The orange blossom doesn't stand alone, but mixes with other florals that I can't quite pick out. Something already bothers me here, something seems synthetic, almost pungent and a bit sultry, I suspect the tuberose. Still, the whole thing turns soft and heavy and sweet, first a dry sweetness that then gets stronger and stronger. The warmth of the base also comes through quickly and gives the whole thing fullness - full-bodiedness, isn't that what they say about wines? I think the word fits here too, thoroughly delicious through the tonka. It gets softer and cozier and loses some of its punch. Still, you have to like this heavy, floral gourmand. If not, it can probably seem intrusive, especially in the beginning.
But I could like it, actually. If there wasn't something that was bothering me. I wasn't quite sure what it was. I thought maybe one of the flowers at first, or just the general "heavy floral blend of a party scent". Something like that bothers me more often than not, and most of the time I can't put my finger on why actually. Maybe it's just too sticky-synthetic for me, maybe this scent isn't so well balanced after all and my nose notices? Time to look into the fragrance notes. And even though I think there is something to the sticky-floral-bouquet theory after all, I immediately found new suspects: Praline and Cocoa. What had initially reminded me of Black Opium, along with the orange blossom, turns out to be cocoa, not coffee, I guess. I smell the roast aroma here too, but also something strongly disturbing. As so often drives me also here the chocolate note.
Who does not mind, and who stands on heavy floral gourmands should test it quiet times. For me, unfortunately, there will be no Highheel flacon.

Mojito refreshment or: Suddenly I like coconut
I was really skeptical when I pulled this scent out of a sample packet: I must have read somewhere that Virgin Island Water is a coconut scent. And although I love eating (or drinking) coconut, I actually always find it annoying as a scent. So I braced myself for the worst case scenario: cheap coconut sunscreen that knocks you out at 10 yards.

This scent is the opposite. Coconut is there right at the start, but it's not coconut sunscreen and it's not hair conditioner. The aforementioned Pina Colada fits the bill nicely, completely homemade from fresh ingredients of course. It doesn't push itself loudly to the forefront, nor is it the first thing I smell. It's the lime, and with it comes the rum right from the start. i think of mojito and look into the scents. Indeed: lime, rum, cane sugar, all there for the summer refreshing cocktail.
The initial effervescence decreases with time, but does not go away completely. Instead, more and more creaminess comes through, as if it were evening in the cocktail bar, while flowers discreetly exude their fragrance. And if you're thinking "I don't want to smell like alcohol, sticky stains on wooden tables", you're thinking of the wrong kind of cocktail bar. This one is quiet, beautiful and understated. There's soft music playing and the waves crashing in the background. We're on the beach of course, didn't I mention that? There is a lot of white being worn, and the conversations of the other patrons are just a low murmur. The word noble immediately comes to mind.

I like this scent. For me, the initial effervescence and freshness could last longer, but even so it is insanely summery and delicious. Which I'm sure is because the coconut doesn't play the main role, but stays in the background. I get to drink the mojito while pina colada is being prepared at the bar. I'm looking forward to the summer.

Christmas market of magic
Oh so beautiful. The fragrance and the bottle I would have so much like.
The original I have long loved and worn a lot. Even if it was sometimes too much, and I put me very carefully in the spray cloud to not stand out throughout the day.
The first spray of this immediately reminds me of the original. Wish. Distinctive to me, and only superficially resembling Angel.
And like the original, I can't even tell what I'm actually smelling. It's warm, it's sweet, dark caramel honey-colored with golden splashes. A walk through the candy corner of a Christmas market. Past honey, caramel and marzipan. Through soft lights dimmed enough that the stars can be seen in the deep blue night sky. Heavy and sweet, but not sticky but all soft and warm.
To me, this scent is softer than the original, darker as is the blue of the bottle. More elegant and a little more restrained. I think I find him even more beautiful.
After a few hours it becomes weaker and smokier. Less sweet. A few steps away from the market stalls and into the quiet smoky night air.
A feel-good fragrance, a pinch of magic that surrounds me and then only gets nicer at the end

My Milkshake...
Actually, I don't like shopping malls. But you know those big, airy ones with quiet music and few people, all relaxed? Where they have ice cream and waffles and, yes, milkshakes.

Spraying it on, I take a big sip of one of those milkshakes. Tropical fruity, I'm thinking mango, but it'll probably be dragon fruit. And a big helping of vanilla.
With my huge cup in my hand, I stroll around like this. Attached to the rim is a large white flower, the scent of which hits my nose with every sip. Orange blossom, mixed with something else.
I pass a perfumery, from which comes that sweet, heavy whiff we all know. But I don't go in, just take some floral and musk. On the other side of the aisle is a café, from which it also smells.
Nice, I think to myself, and stroll on, with a last bit of milkshake in my hand.

I don't like coffee, I don't like shopping malls. But I really like this scent. It's not that different from the original for me. Vanilla, orange blossom, and what must be coffee. This one is fruitier, especially in the beginning. And lasts less long
