Wrapped in compliments
I fell in love with “French leather” when my friend used it in combination with “Intense cafe” by Montale. It was such intense experience. Such a familiar notes, but in complicated interpretation. I got myself both, because I’m literally addicted to them. If you want to get “WoW!” effect, it is such a brilliant compliment getter.

Don’t be afraid to layer
It is funny, but “Rose Gourmand for her” by Zara smells so similar to the “Intense cafe”, and price is 10 times cheaper. I like to layer mine with Memo Paris “French leather”, this combination is soo beautiful I can’t help it to buy more of each. I can’t wear it “Intense cafe” by itself, it remind me of spilled Caramel Macchiato from Starbucks, but if you use it in addition with other scents, it is a winner.

Irises don’t grow near sea landscapes
I understand intentions of previous reviews, but if you have iris in your top notes, it is one of the scents that disappear as soon as you spray your perfume. This composition is created in woody floral family. Nothing powdery, not even a hint about orris accord. I can hear more salty driftwood scent with sugary floral notes. Not to mention that iris don’t grow near sea landscapes scapes makes hard to fall into believe what this iris is about. I love orris accords in perfumes, but here iris is represented very lightly. Longevity and silage are very poor. You literally need to spray a lot in order to get any projection. It is very light, again, very light, elegant scent. In my opinion it is overpriced. Company tries to sell this scent as being made with experience ingredients, but I simply hear synthetic woody floral notes. I can’t believe that this scent represents Tuscany. On dried notes I can hear lightest presence of labdanum. I had expectations that this fragrance will remind me of beautiful Florence, iris garden, called Giardino dell'Iris, were almost 1500 different irises bloom every Spring. Red irises are very symbolic for this region. Sweet vanilla hunts me, nothing more.

Refined spirit of Spring
Just 24 km from Cannes, in France, there is a lovely place called Tanneron, where every year the inhabitants of the city organize a festival, in the month of February, dedicated to mimosa. Yes, the very fluffy beauty that we are used to seeing on March 8th, well known as International Women’s Day.

Tourist routes are described along the southern coast of France, accurate to local attractions and local mimosa nurseries. There is something to strive for after quarantine.

Even as a young girl, I made a herbarium out of mimosa for my collection. Mimosa leaves have an amazing ability to shrink at any touch, and surprisingly, they have nothing to do with the mimosa to which we are used to. This tree has pink fluffy peduncles, and our yellow beauty has a completely different name - silver acacia.

In California we have another species of acacia, Acacia pycnantha, which was brought in by immigrants from Australia. This plant has adapted well to temperature changes from a hot, sultry climate to the first frost.

In Los Gatos, California, there is Vasona Park, where you can find another species of acacia, blackwood acacia, which blooms along local waters in early spring. Photo enthusiasts are literally looking for a yellow cascade of bloom for their clients. This bloom attracts a lot of bees and if you come closer you can literally drown in this bright, fluffy honey whirlpool.

The fragrance was created in 2020 by the legendary Jean-Claude Ellena, who already has 116 masterly performed compositions behind him.

The scent of mimosa is a rather complex accord, which not all perfumers can handle, in order to keep all the components of the composition in harmony, not only experience is needed, but also a sense of balance.

This sophisticated and completely non-flashy scent opens up new facets without a lethal trail. Very beautiful floral-powdery scale with notes of mimosa, hawthorn and rose. Balanced white musk lends a special charm to the base of the palette.

For me this calm scent is a real discovery this year. The sweetness that remains after application makes you come back for that sip of freshness from the spring bloom. I catch myself on an involuntary smile. It opens up very nicely in cool weather. Definitely to wear in Spring.

The bottle itself is made in tinted, heavy glass with gold trim. This fragrance is worth such an expensive frame.

I love this flower-powdery scent.

Montale’s DNA with little twist
I was trying to see if I can find gourmand scent with plums notes in it. Montale outperformed himself in this fragrance. Fruits are very alluring within few minutes, it is almost like someone opened jam with plums, but patchouli kicks in so hard, leaving you with Montale’s signature DNA mixed with tiny rose notes.

Longevity lasts for 4 hours.
Silage is okay, not over powering.

I would love to hear more plums here, but it is what creator wanted, similarities are easily detected here as in other Montale’s fragrances.

Personally I will try to dig deeper in funding my own Montale’s bestseller. This one is okay-ish.
