Come to daddy: The fragrance of security
My father used this when I was small and I loved it! I even remember the noise the lid made when twisted. You could let it spin and it made a characteristic noise of vibrating glass and bakelite.
When Dunhill couldn't be found anymore, my father switched to other after shaves that were similarly restrained and at the same time classy and masculine.
For me this fragrance exudes childhood security. My Papa.

Fragrant medicine
For me, 4711 is not so much a perfume as a fragrant and refreshing cosmetic: I use it successfully to treat blemishes and small lesions (especially squeezed spots) and it works a treat! Often it even stops pimples in the making from developing and it speeds up the healing of ripe ones.
Beginning headaches can be treated by rubbing the temples with the cologne - it won't cure a migraine, but it eases the pressure.

The fragrance reminds me a little of my greatgrandmother - unfortunately when she was very old she tried to cover up small mishaps with it, and that didn't go well.

A Dewey herb garden
God, Ébène was so good! My brother used to have it and I loved it. It smelled very natural of herbs with a fresh mint component that didn't recall toothpaste or chewing gum. This was mint the herb, straight from the garden. In addition there are warm woody notes that were simply beautiful and made a warm and solid but not massive background for this flowering herb garden.

Violent
This was my very first perfume, the first one I bought myself, much too brash and penetrating, rather violent really. It is dominated by a very sweet rose, which seems to be a trademark of Sophia Grojsman's. I find that I have rather a lot of her compositions. She became more subtle, but seems to have retained a preference for sweet and rosy flavours.
When I came home and proudly showed off with it, my appalled parents took me out to buy a "real" perfume, because they thought this one cheap and importunate. I picked Eau de Givenchy - very much opposed to Ex'cla-ma'tion in its unobtrusive classical beauty and which I still use through all those years.

Sweet replacement for Sotto Voce
I discovered Sun Moon Stars when I sadly found out that Laura Biagiotti's "Sotto Voce" had been discontinued just when I first fell in love with it. I liked the fudgey sweetness, the flavour of toasted and candied almonds mixed with roses, and I found some of it in Sun Moon Stars. Maybe not surprisingly, since both were created by Sophia Grojsman.
Sun Moon Stars has an artificially sweet chewing gum note I don't like that much. Still it is a wonderful fragrance for my "sweet days".
And my mom's happy, too, because she read that Karl Lagerfeld uses mostly natural ingredients, so she hopes he shuns all those dangerous nitro-musks...
