The Silence Creeper
Wow, what a scent was allowed to get under my nose here - thanks to Noreans! The subtle name of the perfume, "The Tycoon", caused numerous images to float around in my head even before the first fragrance tasting. At the beginning I had to think directly about "Wolf of Wallstreet" and CEO's in their tailor-made suits, wearing sunglasses and with a thick sled under their butt...

...but when tested, this picture did not come true. We are not dealing with a pretentious money-maker, but with pure understatement. You could make associations with the executive floor, but we are dealing with a boss who is present but unobtrusive, strong in appearance but not ostentatious, well dressed but not overdressed and well-groomed but not dolled up. A real "quiet peddler" who has already proven himself enough and no longer has to show off his skills by his appearance. He likes it minimalistic and at the same time high quality. Every word he says is thoughtful, because he deeply detests mere gossip. Consequently, his fragrance underlines exactly his character and it is not surprising that he has chosen "the Tycoon" to complete his fragrance...

...A fragrance that is extremely scratchy, dry, slightly spicy and subtly powdery. Its dryness radiates a certain freshness that cannot be denied. The galbanum and labdanum also give it a slightly resinous undertone, which I like very much. Oak moss, on the other hand, is responsible for the light, scratchy green cast. Pepper and ginger complete "the Tycoon" by giving it a slightly spicy-hot component. With all the scent images, one might think that the scent could be over-titled. Funnily enough, the opposite is true, as "the Tycoon" is quite straightforward and the components intertwine perfectly. Here nothing is too much, not over, nothing is left out. In this respect, it resembles a good book, where you get the feeling that not a word too much has really been written here!...

...This also applies to the durability and sillage: both in the solid midfield and matching the "Leisetreter". In numbers, this means that you will be pleased for a good 7-8 hours and the surroundings will notice everything on a good meter. A great scent for the office and not only for the executive floor. It doesn't scare off anyone and emphasizes the calm sovereignty of its wearer. One would entrust him with any task, as he radiates the serenity of a man who can no longer be shaken by anything....

New Love
It's been a long time since I have tested a fragrance as intensively as "Sedley" from de Marly. Not because I wasn't convinced by him, but because I was fascinated by his very own scent. At first I didn't know whether it was fresh or powdery or green. Only the above mentioned aquatics I could directly exclude - at least for me. I was also pissed off, as I also imagined that it would not last long, which I am no longer convinced of.

When spraying the "Sedley" my first association goes in the direction of the previous speaker: shower scent! But a shower gel for the "upper class". It smells very soapy, slightly powdery and a little bit sour and pungent, which might be due to the Ambroxan. Moreover, the citric chords of the top note make sure that this impression is emphasized. The citric notes merge so much into each other that it is difficult to smell out exactly. As already written above, we have succeeded in creating a fragrance composition that, at least for me, is completely unique. In the further course of the fragrance "Sedley" becomes even more soapy (lavender) and gains freshness with a simultaneous decrease in citricity. But there is still no trace of aquatic notes! The cedar, which is added later, gives the fragrance a nice tart note, which for me cannot be missing in a masculine newcomer. This exceptional sour-fresh soap mixture remains quite linear until the end and changes its face only slightly. Sometimes I have the feeling that he might drift into the powdery, but then again the freshness gains the upper hand.

The often criticized durability of the fragrance I could sign at the first test, it lasted for 4 hours and was hardly noticeable. In all other tests, however, it was a real powerhouse for a Freshy. Yesterday - at 29 degrees - it even lasted 9 hours, although it was certainly not always smellable for my surroundings. I, however, could smell him all the time. Also, after about two hours of wearing it, I met with my best friend who told me how good I would smell. Therefore a small proof for a very nice projection after two hours. I would therefore conclude that it is very potent, especially at high temperatures, and needs the heat to radiate properly. I also have to admit that I was not sparing with 5 spray bursts, but you need them with this one, too.

Conclusion: For me my new favourite summer scent, which is very unique, has a nice soapy and sour freshness and will certainly always be well received. It is only moderately complex compared to the other de Marlys, but that's exactly why I don't always find it wearable. Here, however, an "evergreen" was created that is just right for the hot days. But if one wants to pay the still high price for it has to be weighed. For all those who appreciate DeMarly for its heavy, complex and opulent fragrances, "too little" might come across here. For all those who like it simple, fresh, uncomplex and smart, this could be a nice new addition.

Have a nice summer!

Smoking men
I don't know which one of you still knows the good old smoking man that they put up at Christmas time? That immobile little man, usually with a part and a pipe, could be opened in the middle and an incense candle could be placed inside. The candle was lit beforehand and so the finest smoke came out of our protagonist's mouth. As children we loved this incomparable scent, which was smoky but not stuffy and unpleasant. Apparently there were other scents in it that I couldn't identify at that time.

Now, when I tested "Cardinal" by Heeley a few days ago, it was there again, the smell of the smoking man. And as authentic as it could possibly be.

So it smells of frankincense and myrrh, which makes the associations of the previous speakers with the church interior - especially the Catholic one - understandable. In addition, our Cardinal smells really spicy, with pepper standing out above all. It must be said, however, that the smoky notes do not get the upper hand. So if you think that this could be the "Interlude Man", don't worry, that's not the case. The spice seems to have the smoke well under control, so that the overall impression is one of a balsamic feel-good fragrance. Just the way it is mocked when you light an avenger or incense sticks. This meditative aura of well-being is created immediately. This also remains on a linear level for a relatively long time and finally leads to a delicate veil of scent carried by ambergris, which is very pleasant. In total, Cardinal remains on my skin for about 8-9 hours and is easily perceptible in the first 2-3 hours.

Conclusion: A meditative smoke scent that invites you to think, relax and switch off and creates a feel-good atmosphere. The smoke is directed into pleasant paths, so that even "smoke lovers" should have their fun. Endurance and projection are also in the upper level. So if you like the smell of incense sticks or the good old incense man on your skin, you might find your luck here. In the end, for me Cardinal is "only" a good scent or a nice room scent, because I don't like to smell like our bearded-smoking wooden figure at Christmas time.

"Island of the Blessed" - or - Thoughts of the Grapefruit Part III
Elysium originally comes from Latin and means translated "Island of the Blessed". A person can be called blessed if he or she participates in the heavenly joys and lives in complete fulfillment already during his or her lifetime. Now one has to ask oneself how all this information allows a reference to the above perfume? Furthermore, it is important to find out what is so special about this grapefruit that the 3rd part of my journey "Thoughts on the Grapefruit" is dedicated to it.

Of the beatitude:
Here, a fragrance has been pressed into a bottle - truly pressed - that seems hard to beat in terms of fruitiness. We find - especially at the beginning - a quantity of sour fruits, such as the already highly praised grapefruit, joined by lemon and lime. You can certainly imagine how that smells. Acidic and tart notes waft around the nostrils and are a real pleasure, especially when it is very hot. It works, to put it in a word: refreshing! But as it progresses, the fruity engraving picks up even more speed, which may be due to the addition of apple, juniper and currant. A gentle veil of musk, ambergris and benzoin wafts beneath this fruit basket. These fragrance components, coupled with the easily perceived cedar, also ensure that the Elysium acquires a nice dry graphite note. In summary, it smells dry and fruity, tart and extremely citrusy and fresh. A connection to the "Island of the Blessed" can be made on the one hand by recording that a truly heavenly world is being created here, a true Garden of Eden, where the heaviness of time becomes meaningless. On the other hand, it should be emphasized that Elysium can certainly be classified as summery-tropical and can evoke images of beaches, palm trees and cocktails.

Thoughts on the grapefruit Part III:
Spoiler:
Part I: Sicily - Mancera
Part II: Zara Emotions N°01 - Vetiver Pamplemousse

This grapefruit here, first of all, is my favourite of this triad. But this is mainly due to the complexity of the fragrance, which develops beautifully and brings out other fruit notes besides the grapefruit. It also contains my beloved graphite note, which is very popular with me and always gives me high ratings. In comparison to the above, however, it must be added that those who like to smell the grapefruit long and authentically should rather go for one of the previously described fragrances. This can be explained by the fact that the Roja grapefruit only polarizes very strongly at the beginning and then is quickly enveloped by the other fruits. If you like it quite authentic, you should therefore most likely reach for the sicily, which is grapefruit juice pure until the end. For those who find this venture too sour, reach for the scent of czarella, it is softer, more fluffy and with the tangerine note, altogether less sour. To sum up, it must be said that Elysium provides a number of scents and is more demanding on the olfactory senses than the other two fragrances.

Minus point:
I know that the durability of a fragrance is not always decisive, but for 270 Euros I expect a little bit of something in this respect. I don't want to say that it is short-lived, but in my case it only lasts for about 5-6 hours and is only perceptible to others in the first two hours. Therefore I have to count this as a minus point, because I have to spray at least once, on days when I wear it. That is why I am not yet 100% convinced that he will move in here.

Maybe you have had similar experiences?
Thanks for reading it!

Don't look for much - take Persil
When I was a teenager, I developed a little tic in emptying the washing machine, which I like to tell you about. My mother often asked me to help her with various household chores. This included, apart from the generally hated emptying of the dishwasher, emptying the washing machine including hanging up the freshly washed laundry inside. This was a task I liked very much as I was already a scent expert at that time, as I adored the smell of freshly washed laundry. I especially liked it when the laundry was washed with the original Persil powder, because the subsequent smell of clean purity was unbeatable. Therefore I always had to smell the shining clean laundry thoroughly after emptying and was always delighted how once dirty can spread such a bright shine again.

Even today the smell of the family laundry of that time has remained in my nose and has been stored in my brain. Therefore, it was a great pleasure and surprise for me to rediscover it in a perfume. Although I had already tested a "fresh laundry scent", such as "Warm Cotton", I was not able to wear some of them, as they were no longer perceptible after only a short time. I like quiet scents as well, but there must be some durability. "The Muse" was supposed to fill exactly this gap and come up with a fragrance that is extremely durable and also smells like freshly washed laundry. Moreover, unlike the other newcomers, it is not only a nice memory of cleaning out the washing machine, but it is also beautifully tart and actually quite masculine. This does not mean that it is not unisex wearable, I only judge it from the "male point of view".

But what exactly does it smell like?
For those who cannot imagine anything under the smell of Persil, I would like to describe once again as exactly as possible what can be smelled here:

1. A linear fragrance that remains almost the same from beginning to end and ends in a soft musky veil at the end.
2. We definitely smell warm, heated cotton, as is usual after washing.
3. This is accompanied by a soapy note reminiscent of curd soap. A classic soap without any other scents.
4. In the interplay described above, it therefore appears tart and soapy, slightly acidic and infinitely pure, fresh, bright and radiant.
5. It has an enormous durability for a newborn and lasts about 9 hours with me. It radiates well in the first 4 hours and then retreats from time to time, only to return with concentrated power.

Conclusion: If you like "fresh underwear fragrances" with a tart base and like to smell extremely fresh, you should test this one. A super performance makes sure that it is not only a nice room fragrance, but that it really does something for your neck. I would almost ask you to be careful when dosing it, otherwise the soapy notes could be too strong. Besides, man and woman can do nothing wrong here. For him I like the tart freshness best. If you like to look clean and well-groomed, "the Muse" can give a clear emphasis to this need for appearance!

So don't look for much - take Persil!
