Merci beaucoup, Madame Nagel!
The first time I sprayed him, he didn't speak to me at all. Much too confused were fruity citric, wiry sweet-grass and the typical earthy basic tone of TdH (maybe it is this tone, which is called "flint" in the original EdT?), independently next to each other, actually only causing confusion and forming a single disharmony. Courageously I had sprayed this one before the start of an office working day. So I set off with one or two fears about how this olfactory chaos would be received in the office.
Admittedly, I haven't been dealing with perfume for too long - so now I should get to know what a successful drydown means: The irritatingly buzzing "scent strands" weave together within about 45 minutes to form a harmonious whole, a more mature, serious business tdH. And now I suddenly liked the scent bombastically! Thank you, Mrs. Nagel, for this terrific fragrance experience!
For someone with self-confidence (vetiver will always have its rough edges), it's definitely wearable in the office (by the way, the fragrance lasts a good day at work with three sprayers), once you've gotten through the first few minutes. I wouldn't wear the fragrance in summer, autumn and spring are its "time to shine" I think.

After the first spraying, associations appear on the fog that clears in the early morning hours along the Via Appia, this ancient paved road, the "first road in the world", lined with pine trees and cypresses. When I look down, I see grass and herbs between the rocks.
The bergamot is clearly perceptible, gradually recedes, but remains as a fresh bringer. Of course, incense is also perceptible from the first second and gives this fragrance this "worthy" aura, as the perfume is supposed to represent the history of Rome on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the Italian nation. Resins and spices are also supposed to reflect the character of ancient Rome - and yes, that too has succeeded excellently. After the decline of Carthage, Rome became the political and economic centre of the ancient Mediterranean world, goods from all over the world (keywords: wine, woods, honey...) found their way here. What I think is very good is that you have limited yourself in the composition of the fragrance, so that this character is well hit, but the perfume is not overloaded, but clear and inspiring.
In the drydown, the fragrance is incredibly contemplative and calming. I imagine, with a glass of red wine in my hand, looking from one of the seven hills of Rome to the eternal city, which lies peacefully in front of me, bathed in the warm colours of the sunset. Maybe one day I'll make it.
PS: Of course this is not a crowdpleaser. My wife finds me felt 30 years too young to be able to wear the fragrance in everyday life. I still put it on in my spare time when I take time for myself.

Fragrance: It is a truly excellent composition, perfumer's art at a high level. The perfume should celebrate the Jubilee of the Italian State - Mission accomplished.
Sillage: Very good (limit sprayer, if you don't want to attract too much attention)
Shelf life: At least 5 hours perceptible by myself.
Flacon: I only have one sample. But in a few years I might buy it - and I get the impression from pictures that the bottle design radiates quality.

Probably the second most famous quotation after the unforgettable words of the political star John F. Kennedy "I am a Berliner" are the closing words in Berlin - a city fate of the art critic Karl Scheffler, who wrote in 1910:

The floral-sweet fragrance embodies a curious, cheerful youthfulness. It's fresh, it's unisex, it's a mood enhancer. I feel transported to the time when, full of anticipation, I made my first trip to the "Big City". Even several sprayers never let him become too much.
But then the "shadow side": As enthusiastic as he is, he has vanished so quickly. He leaves us with positive thoughts - but he leaves us behind. He leaves us with a desire for more, for a new kick of enthusiasm.
Would the fragrance be better with better performance? He would have a higher score in this category, but he would not get better, because it would distort his character. It's a shadow that it disappears so quickly, but it's a shadow that underlines its character.
