A lance for nostalgia!
As a lifelong underpowered user of rusty Dutch bikes, I have to take up the cudgels for this wonderful scent.

You really don't have to be a PS aficionado to enjoy this extremely portable, characteristic and by no means exaggerated little water.

Granted: the top note is original and hits the theme "Mille Miglia". But that's no cambouis, no punch in the pit of the stomach, but even at this stage it's a fragrance, a really pleasing kick and stimulant that has never prompted my otherwise odor-sensitive wife to make any of her dreaded comments. That's art!

At this point, I share the regret that this effect fizzles out a little too quickly and leads into a phase that is undoubtedly less original, but by no means boring, in which the impression of petrol and rubber increasingly recedes in favour of a discreetly vanilla-dominated, but thoroughly distinctive composition. On the other hand, a more persistent top note would quickly be too much of a good thing, at least for me (Russian Leather by Molton Brown goes in this direction and would be recommended to all those who like to bathe in birch tar - for me a complete bad buy...).

In any case, contrary to all well-intentioned advice, this restraint has made the fragrance a very regular companion to the office for me - inspiring, but unobtrusive, perhaps a little bit headstrong, as befits the unnatural office lifestyle that has become second nature.

I like the whole concept: the cult of artificiality from the monastery pharmacy, a memorial stone for an outdated technology, which still stands for the possibility of escaping into nature at any time, therefore: our whole dilemma as a fragrance - if that is nothing.

I think to myself and, while the last scent molecules reach my nose, I ride on my cargo bike to pick up the children.

The first best!
Bought without long trying - at the price! - makes me this fragrance now for years really joy. At any time of the year and on any occasion I can get something out of it. Conceivably simple in construction, it nevertheless manages the most amazing balancing acts: It is stock conservative and fresh, natural and dandylike, present and restrained. Its longevity is nothing to sneeze at; on some days it lasts from morning until evening, or it shines through unexpectedly with a later "afternoon scent". It's good at that, too: getting along with others, entering into conversation with them as if.

Because of these qualities, it is one of my most frequently used fragrances. Oh, and because by now my skin just craves it after every shave (so every few days). Also for a trip with limited luggage he is a good option, because he unlike many quite great fragrances even after a few days of exclusive use not yet annoying.

In other words, you can't do better than liking it! I do, and what I find really amazing: I also like it more than significantly more expensive tobacco scents, more than Feuilles de tabac for example, much more than Havana, not to mention Tabac at the other end of the price scale. Alt-Innsbruck puts the inner attitude right and makes me ready to take on life!

By the way, if I ever need to repurchase the bottle (you don't need much of it!), I'll treat myself to this great pump sprayer. Then everything will be even better.

Underwhelming or Where Classicism Turns into Boredom
I'm sorry, of course: an English title for this arch-French watering hole. That's right: water. For none of the products in my cupboard is this designation more appropriate. A well-made, paradigmatic, fine-smelling water - which lacks any wildness. In this it stands out for my taste quite pleasantly from the eternal competitor Pour Monsieur, which is not a water but a confessed perfume, which seems to me, however, blatantly exaggerated.

The bottle is great, the classic status undeniable, the fragrance pleasing (lemon and spices; I can add nothing more to the descriptions), distinguished in a positive sense: I imagined who wants to wear Habit Rouge on special occasions and is looking for a quieter counterpart for everyday life, would have to come here at his expense. But then, on the vast majority of days, it's too shy for me, too unspectacular, not present enough and also fades away too quickly. I would like to believe that this has something to do with reformulations and missing oak moss, as Seelanne suggests, and I can only hope that one day it will dawn on me what gives this fragrance such an outstanding reputation among many esteemed commentators.

To close again English and with a (so negative then yet not meant) "devastating praise": nice!
