Vintage Gem
It seems like I'm always yapping about Vintage fragrances how great they are and this and that. The truth is that vintages are a cut above the fragrances currently saturating the market. Hawk is another example of the quality of fragrances from yesterday. 1981 wasn't exactly a century ago but it was 43 yrs ago and much has changed since then. I'm glad these older fragrances are still around and I wear them just about every chance I get. A masculine scent with decent longevity that can be quite expensive depending on the seller so it's a treat to own these bottles. Mennen is famous for the skin bracer name and Hawk isn't as well known as other popular drugstore fragrances like Brut or Hai Karate but certainly holds it's own against them.

Buying a Cologne shouldn't amount to taking out a mortgage so drugstore fragrances certainly have their place. This is only a casual scent that can be worn daily but I wouldn't wear it for formal occasions so keep that in mind is this fragrance generates your interest.

Cheap thrills!
It always brings a smile to my yap when a blind buy is outrageously successful. Case in point I just picked up a 4.2oz bottle of Moschino Uomo? Online for the everyday low low low price of $18! A most satisfying fragrance that has some nose catching notes inside and ends with an animalic finish. Now this contains Ambergris and I'm not sure of the quality. I mean Ambergris is thousands of dollars per piece and to include it in a fragrance that goes for under $20 it makes you wonder, but not wonder too much! Like I said this juice is banging and it reminds me of the Original Burberry for men. (1995). Longevity is impressive and I can't think of anything more important in a masculine fragrance BTW.

I've never ever owned anything from this brand but maybe this is the start of a new friendship

Very light and pleasant
This Unisex vintage formulation is very pleasant yet very unoffensive and unobtrusive. Lot's of things were changing in 1969, especially when it came to society and the things that surrounded it. Life was being made to be simpler and that carried over to everything regarding what we wore right down to what we ate. This fragrance epitomizes that topic. It's fragrant, light and just plain awesome smelling. The longevity is decent and can be had for not very much money. Alyssa Ashley/Houbigant put out a very high quality scent that held it's own right up until the Butchers of Scent, Dana, took the reigns years later. Sorry I won't waste my time so I'll keep my Vintages thank u very much.

Drugstore classic
Masculine, earthy and pleasant. These are just some of the adjectives I can use when commenting on this Classic. The 1960s were kind of a breakout decade for men's colognes, even though they were/are dominated by female scents. I'm a big collector of mostly Vintage fragrances but I do have a few modern bottles but there simply is no comparison between the two categories, unless you're buying one of those enigmatic Niche fragrances that hardly anyone knows about.

That aside, my take on Brut by Faberge' is a mostly positive one. It travels back to my childhood during the mid to late 1970s
My brother, who is 13yrs older than me had just about every category of Brut there was. The Cologne, the Deodorant and the After Shave. Oh and the Splash-On Lotion too. The entire house would be permeated by this very fragrant scent that I just loved. Actually when no one was looking I'd sometimes steal a whiff/spray/splash. I was a wee lad what did I know??

Karl Mann was behind this launch from 1964 but I don't know if he created any other fragrance but no matter, he did a great job with this one. I'm guessing some people may roll their eyes at this overdone review because to some people this was/is/always will be just a cheap smelling drugstore scent. Well let me tell you that to me it's much more than that. The fragrance is quite linear until you reach the wonderful drydown. The fragrance lasts about 7 or 8hrs on my oily skin but the last couple of hours it goes out with a bang. There have been a few different distributors since inception as it changed hands over the past 59yrs but the only bottles I buy are the original releases from the beginning.

That holds true for all of the other brands I own because despite what some may say or think, there IS a marked difference between Vintage and Modern and as long as the Vintages are available for purchase I'll still be digging in my pockets.

Leans feminine
The bottle is imaginative and the price is very affordable and the scent itself isn't the worst I've come across but that's where the positives end with this one. To me the fragrance can easily be worn by a female so it should be labeled as a unisex fragrance and not exclusively masculine. The sweet ambery aroma is headache inducing to anyone that has a heavy hand so wearer beware. My Vintage purchase most likely wears longer than the current juice so that's a positive I guess. I myself am a heavy sprayer so I must remember to be careful because fragrances that cause headaches generally are much worse than others. This is one blind buy that'll make me think twice before the next purchase.
