Strong fragrance for pennies
As a collector of Vintage and Modern masculine fragrances I'm always pleased to find an honest to goodness real value and I've discovered it. It's called Pour Homme by Brookfield EDT. A 1993 release that reminds me of years past and how fine masculines were back then. Literally to be had for pennies on the dollar. I paid $12 for a 1.7oz bottle and I didn't expect much for that transaction. However I was pleasantly surprised because this fragrance really smells wonderful, absolutely wonderful and also gives me at least 8hrs or more of wear time. A green masculine that's fragrance holds the line for almost the entire day. The pinkish juice inside envelopes the skin in such a subtle yet commanding way that this scent literally turns heads!

Am I exaggerating? Who knows but it's just my honest to goodne opinion. Not loud, not headache inducing and definitely not offensive this fragrance just works and also can be worn just about anywhere at anytime. I'm not at all familiar with this fragrance house but I wholly intend to get myself quite a few more bottles because I have a feeling this one isn't going to last me very long...

Woefully underrated
1998 was the mid point for the downgrading of perfumerie as it was around this time the Communists over at the EU and the IFRA were beginning to sharpen their knives as they started attacking modern perfumerie with their draconian regulations. However one fragrance in particular was thumbing their noses at all of this and that fragrance is Pour L'Homme by Jacques Fath. This is a sadly and disgracefully underrepresented and underrated fragrance that seriously deserves SOME recognition. I have around 400 bottles of various scents and this Gem is right there smiling at me as If to say "please wear me!". This spicy masculine yet fruity sweet amber classic goes on smoothly and 12hrs later it still stands up and makes itself known. See if u can find 5 modern main stream over advertised and over priced fragrances can behave like that. Jimmy Choo certainly can't! It's masculine yet possibly unisex and wonderfully fragrant. I just simply live it, even though I only wear it for special occasions. It doesn't break the bank and won't be easily found in stores but can be found nonetheless. It's discontinued so maybe that's a reason lol. The yellowish juice inside really stays with u and be careful to not over spray. It's quite strong I say. As a matter of fact I'm panicking I won't be able to find another bottle so I truly use it sparingly. Take my word and go get a bottle and see for yourself

Spend the $$ buy Vintage
I very fondly remember 1986 as I was all of 15yrs old and when it came to fragrances I realized I was developing a
keen interest and I wanted to learn more about it. At that time Obsession was new on the market and in no time at all it seemed very popular. After one whiff I drew my head back in disgust because the scent to me was vulgar. Fast forward 30 plus years my tastes have obviously changed and matured. In 2016 my interest in mens fragrances have really taken off and I make it a point to learn something new everyday. So vintage fragrances are very important to me and I've heard all of the horror stories about the awful IFRA and reformulations how most of them destroy most classics such as Obsession AND others. Guess what?? They are 100% correct. I purposely purchased 2 bottles of Calvin Klein's Obsession, one from 2018 and the other a Vintage 1990 version. To me there is absolutely NO COMPARISON between the 2. The Vintage offering clearly is superior to the newer one by leaps and bounds. There isn't enough time for me to list the reasons why though all I can say is that the vintage original has much more depth and staying power and is overall just a much better scent. You can tell just by looking at the juice which is darker, denser and more complex. There are many classic fragrances I can say the same about and when I read reviews on the modern Obsession people say they get 7 or 8hrs of lasting power!! There's NO WAY on God's green earth that's accurate.

The last time I wore the modern version I noticed the fragrance became a skin scent within the first couple of hours and for a fragrance that sets me back almost $75 that's clearly unacceptable and since 2017 I've purchased 3 more VINTAGE bottles and I always get all day performance and the scent is just higher quality.

That said I think that what the IFRA is doing to these Oakmoss laden Fragrances is a disgrace and a dishonest service to loyal customers. It may not be so important to some people but it certainly is to me.

Long live the Vintage fragrance!!!

Nice fragrance regardless
I'll tell u what... Modern perfumerie sure is hoity toity sometimes, especially when it comes to current modern fragrances. Some people who put down a fragrance AND it's owner/perfumer really have balls. This man Matthew Meleg has taken a lot of unnecessary criticism because of this fragrance, which is named Honey and Deer Musk. They say this, that and the other. I have a hunch it's because REAL animalics are used and the self righteous goody goodies are up in arms. I say TO HELL WITH ALL OF YOU!! I happen to love this fragrance, which is more unisex than just feminine. There's debate whether or not the note breakdown is accurate. I admit I don't have an aptly trained nose to be able to pull apart notes like some do and they are to be commended. All that said again I love this fragrance. Not because of what's inside but because of something much more important... THE SCENT!!! From top to bottom and side to side this is a quality concoction, with the Bergamot to the strong Cinnamon right down to the animalics ending on a note of pure authentic OAKMOSS! The strength could be a little better considering the price but a solid 6hrs is fine by me. I'm so glad you're doing what u want and to hell with the draconian IFRA. Others hear this... If u don't like it, MOVE ON AND BUY SOMETHING ELSE!!

A Capucci Classic
Every now and then I find myself daydreaming about the long ago days of yore. I admit I live in the past and I'm man enough to admit it. It gets so bad some days it leads to depression!! One of my favorite things concerning the past is the magnificent body of Fragrances that were created during the golden age of perfumerie which IMHO lasted from 1960-2000. One of these gems is Sang Royale from Roberto Capucci. This could be one of the 1st Animalic fougeres pointed in the Masculine direction. To me this could've paved the way for such head turners as Antaeus by Chanel, Polo by Lauren, and Jaipur by Bucheron. There are many others similar because this genre was EVERYWHERE during the 1970s and 1980s. Umm Sang Royale was released in 1967 sooooo who knows if this paved the way. I'm not sure because my knowledge of Fragrances only goes so far. This, of course, is discontinued so hi ho hi how it's on the line I go!! This stuff is still around for a not so cheap price so really if you're a serious collector and you're into big, dark, Animalic green fragrances then you should definitely give this a serious look.
