A Capucci Classic
Every now and then I find myself daydreaming about the long ago days of yore. I admit I live in the past and I'm man enough to admit it. It gets so bad some days it leads to depression!! One of my favorite things concerning the past is the magnificent body of Fragrances that were created during the golden age of perfumerie which IMHO lasted from 1960-2000. One of these gems is Sang Royale from Roberto Capucci. This could be one of the 1st Animalic fougeres pointed in the Masculine direction. To me this could've paved the way for such head turners as Antaeus by Chanel, Polo by Lauren, and Jaipur by Bucheron. There are many others similar because this genre was EVERYWHERE during the 1970s and 1980s. Umm Sang Royale was released in 1967 sooooo who knows if this paved the way. I'm not sure because my knowledge of Fragrances only goes so far. This, of course, is discontinued so hi ho hi how it's on the line I go!! This stuff is still around for a not so cheap price so really if you're a serious collector and you're into big, dark, Animalic green fragrances then you should definitely give this a serious look.

One of the best flankers ever
I personally don't care very much for fragrances made by car companies. However I DO have a few bottles like Bentley Intense and Jaguar for men (Vintage). Both bottles are very nice with the Bentley being the better fragrance overall. Now I'll add the 3rd bottle to my collection, this one is called Mercedes Benz Private for men. Released in 2018 this one takes a Middle Eastern design with heavy notes like Labdanum, Cypress and Artemisia to name a few. I'll tell you what, this fragrance takes top honors out of the 3 I own and I've read nothing but positive reviews in this one. It has a Middle Eastern makeup but I don't see any Oud listed in the notes...

An Amber/Woody mixture that's also heavy on the Masculinity so Mr Cresp graces our midst with a deep and powerful launch. It could be worn daily and also on a night out with the ladies or the boys. Compliments abound too so it's a satisfying wear. The box it came in is eye catching and the Bottle is as sharp as a tack. Mercedes Benz is known as a luxury car maker but they also make luxurious fragrances too and I intend to purchase many many more offerings like this one. My advice would be to open your mind to fragrances made by auto companies because you may be quite pleasantly surprised just like I was. :)

A tad above Cool Water
I think the comparisons between GIT and CW are closely related with a little touch of Aspen by Quintessence thrown in, not the Aspen by Coty mind you! That said, this fragrance is very good, although the reformulation has naturally brought in down a bit. I'd LOVE to get my hands on a 1985 first edition but I haven't had any luck finding it. The Bottle I have is from the 2000'svso it's much more current. My diagnosis is that's it's a well blended grown up scent that's similar to the other 2 fragrances I mentioned but this one smells more expensive with higher quality ingredients. I love the solid black bottle and whenever I wear it I actually feel like a better, more sophisticated man. Sad but true. It doesn't hold or project as earlier bottles I'm told and that's just as well. It gives me a very good 7hrs or so of wear time but fragrances from Creed are always so damn expensive it really makes you question the reason why it's so dear. A nighttime scent that'll definitely Garner compliments. It's NOT an everyday fragrance and I'm lucky I reach for it more than a couple of times a month, maybe even less. All things considered it makes me feel all grown up and proud to be a man. All of these outlandish sayings are true. Green Irish Tweed is an overall Mature Masculine high quality fragrance from Creed launched during the greatest era of perfumerie (1965-2000). Just my humble opinion of course. A great addition for any serious fragrance collector that'll definitely look great in your grooming arsenal. :)

A supercharged fragrance
I'll tell u Tom Ford is a genius who really knows his stuff. As far as I'm concerned the version of choice IMHO is the original and ONLY the original. I don't know about later formulations nor do I care to know. AFAIC the 2002 launch takes me back to the golden age of perfumerie which lasted from 1960-2000 with very rare exceptions with this being one of them. It's an Oud/Woody scent that lasts forever with a powdery undertone that takes just a tad of positivity away but that's not really important. Anyway the bottle is strikingly plain but I love it. It's a complex mixture of woods and greens with a light Ambergris trail. Of course it's discontinued and it's ungodly overpriced but widely available so I highly suggest you pick it up. Deep pockets are needed though but I'm about a quarter of the way through but this is one of my favorites so I'll be looking forward to my next purchase sometime soon. The fragrance is not like all the other modern masculines out there. It's not an everyday fragrance and should be worn mainly at night. It's an all grown up scent mostly for older men and NOT for women so take note of that. I'd like to pick up more fragrances from Tom Ford when he was creative director of YSL. Like I said one of the 2 best fragrances by this house with Kouros being the other. I don't know what else to say except if you're a fragrance collector put this one near or at the top of the list. :)

A Vintage Beast
This is another Masculine Giant from the Greatest Decade EVER for Masculines. I mean, damn, one after the other after the other, after the other... Ted Lapidus graced my cheap little wooden cologne chest back in 1989, a full 2 years after the initial launch. I was a teenager at the time and didn't know Jack about fragrances, (I Still Don't!!), but anywho, I picked up 2 vintage bottles of this Classic after many many years without it. Maybe I'm a tad old fashioned but I love my fragrances big, loud and boisterous and I TRY to go easy on the applications. God I love this stuff and yet whenever I hear someone reminiscing about the REAL masculine fragrances of long ago this one is peculiarly absent 90% of the time. Why that is I don't know, but what I DO know is this stuff to me is fabulous. Longevity is superb and the note breakdown is strong and long and the mixture is near perfect. The best part is that a Vintage bottle can be found for under $50! That's unheard of in/on the annuls of Mercari, Etsy and eBay, which I consider the big 3 selling apps.

The fragrance is kinda unusual and also quite complex and I love the animalics that decorate throughout. Ted Lapidus puts out some fine masculine fragrances but this one is EASILY their best one. I don't wear it very often and if you decide to wear it in summer, PLEASE, no more than 2 or 3 sprays at the MOST... On the skin it lasts anywhere from 12 to 24 hrs and on clothing it lasts for far longer. It's just beautiful and when I feel nostalgic, which is almost always, this is one of the fragrances I reach for and it never ever EVER disappoints. There are plenty of Vintage offerings on the Internet so if it's ever discontinued I'll have plenty of backup.

One last thought... I hear the current version is of course not as potent as the original but when I grow a pair maybe I'll pull the trigger and investigate. :)
