Duro means hard/tough
And this is exactly what is unfortunately all too often missed in our soft-hearted society these days.

Duro is the guy in the 80s who leans against a wall and smokes his cigarette and gives a shit what you think. He is also not interested in the gender discussion and he does not understand it for a long time. Even after you explained to him that you feel "offended" by his smoke he didn't care about you wimp. Nevertheless you at least got him to check you out for a short time. He gave you a short pitiful look (he also had to smile) and then turned away again. He had better things to do than to talk to you gender aunt.

Duro is a fragrance that must also suit the corresponding man. If you feel totally hip in your modern high water pants you should NOT wear Duro.
Duro is for the "real" men.

PS: I hope nobody feels offended but rather has to smile about the comment :)

Smoking men
So that's the desert / barber / spice scent in question - Au Coeur du Désert.
In fact I was very excited to try it.
And I have to say the good reviews here are true. The shelf life is super good and Sillage is good too. The only thing that divides the spirits is the scent. It also reminds me of spices and if the desert has a smell then it will be similar. But in spite of all this it smells to me like a smoking man that you used to smell often. The smell really has its charms, but to smell like this for hours is not for me. Also I would not know where and when I would like to smell like this. Smell like the desert in winter? I don't think so. In summer I could imagine that it is too heavy. And spring/autumn there are simply better alternatives.
I don't want to speak ill of the scent here - it is really extraordinary and there are certainly people where the scent fits like a glove. I find it hard to imagine it on myself.
Nevertheless, he probably deserves his good ratings, because he is really something special

rooibos vanilla tea
Tobacco Vanilla is heard again and again in the perfume world and so I had to test it
I got a bottling at the souk and sprayed it on my wrist that very evening.
Two small sprayers and I thought I had fallen into a perfume barrel, and so did the room I was in. I was so overwhelmed that everything around me smelled of perfume that I couldn't tell what I smelled. What struck me right away, though, is that I know that smell from somewhere. My girlfriend and I then had a good time guessing what it was all about, because we both knew it. After the fifth time I put my wrist under her nose without being asked, she said something annoying that she thought it was like tea. And then I came up with what it reminds me of: rooibos vanilla tea! Maybe not 100% but the scent reminds me exactly of it. I don't know if I want to smell like a tea now. But I find the scent very pleasant to wear and can understand why people like it so much. You also don't have to wait for a scent - it doesn't come - it stays as it is.

Reflection Man and the high expectations
Reflection Man by Amouage is in the top 5 men's fragrances and so I couldn't resist the temptation to try it. I found a good souk offer and made a "blind buy" which is not really my style.
First of all to the presentation of the fragrance.
The packaging and bottle really make a good impression - but they should also be good for the price. I think you can't complain here. The atomizer gives off a good amount of scent, but I've seen better.
Just sprayed the scent fresh on my wrist and I can say this much.
In the beginning the smell is a bit bitter, but that fades away quite quickly. The fragrance then develops a nice floral and richt simply good one must say. The fragrance is probably best described as follows - " Richt sehr gut muss es nicht beweisen". He does not want to convince you exaggeratedly of himself but is simply a colleague on whom you can always rely, who simply always delivers well. Here I also understand the Christian Grey comparisons - he seems sublime but without having to rub it in your face.
For me, Amouage Reflection Man is a wonderful all-rounder that always goes down well.
Attention metaphor
Nevertheless, it must be said that it is the fragrance that writes a 2 in every compartment. And sometimes one would like to have one or the other 1 and would accept a 3-4 in another box. I hope you see what I mean.

PS: He will have to put up with the comparisons with Le Male. I too thought at first that I had the sailor from Gaultier in front of me. But one has to say that the Amouage justifies the higher purchase price with a higher durability and sillage and a much more complex scent.

Kalan the surprise
Since this is my first comment, I will go a little further.
I have always been more involved with fragrances than the "Otto normal consumer", but I am not one who smells the perfume and can smell all kinds of scents. That for now.
In times of corona and boredom I have again become more involved with fragrances. A few Youtube videos here and there and I was already an expert.
My interest in Creed Aventus and the house perfumes of Marly was awakened. Since I never buy fragrances blind I got a bottling of Aventus and the Discovery Collection of PdM.
In the PDM are then Pegasus, Layton, Herod, Galloway, Percival and Carlisle. I thought so: Perfect. The noses of others had already smelled to me that I didn't even need to try Kalan. If he was praised once, the praise was bought anyway.
The box arrived and I was happy as a clam. Then when I opened it, there was actually a 1.5 ml Kalan sample. Well, you don't give up, I thought.
After I'd tasted them all.
Short first impression on my part.
Layton: horny
Herod: Weihachten and totally horny
Percival: fresh and probably always works
Pegasus: difficult - a little too sweet for me
Galloway: yeah, I don't know
Carlisle: I don't know what to think of it but it lasts forever and everybody judges you

And then I had pity to try Kalan (I had too much time anyway).
I sniffed at my wrist and my first thought was - that's a pretty good one.
After I had thrown all my prejudices about burnt milk and plastic overboard, the scent reminded me of a nice walk in the woods (yes, real woods, not a park). I immediately felt connected to it. My untrained nose also thought I smelled the mentioned moss and wood in the base note.
I find the fragrance a welcome change from the other PDM fragrances. It simply wasn't sweet and delicious but simply ... different. I don't know how to describe it better. I also see the reason for the slightly lower ratings here. Kalan is just different like his brothers. The durability of Kalan is definitely equal to the other scents of the house, although not as strong as Carlisle's. Sillage is also good.
Then I ordered the 125ml Flakom directly. The flacon and the heavy lid are of course quite something.

Conclusion:
Kalan it is definitely worth trying once. If you want a change from the candyshop and love nature you should try it. According to my nose I only find Layton equal to Kalan. (According to my nose - please do not throw stones). Layton will remain the better "crowd pleaser", but Kalan is simply unique and fucking awesome!
