Pepper, the leather handbag and Pat Chou Li
Not since my teenage years have I drunk as much as I did last night. I think it was a whole bottle of rum or whiskey that I emptied. Maybe both. The reason for this was probably the breakup with my girlfriend. Yesterday she broke up with me.

My name is Ben T. Ley. And this is my story of the week.

My girlfriend's name was Pepper. We met at the mall two weeks ago. Actually, I just wanted to quickly get me a TK pizza, when I met her around 21:00 in the clothing department. She was looking at some handbags while I grabbed a leather handbag for appearances sake. The smell of leather hung in the air, which I really can't stand. But somehow I had to look busy so I could take a closer look at her first.

When she finally looked over at me, our eyes met. She smirked slightly and came towards me. As she stood in front of me she said that this was a nice handbag, but a ladies handbag did not suit me. Embarrassed, I put the bag back and we got to talking.

The name Pepper was program, because she had truly much pepper under the butt. Constantly she was on the move. Whether at parties, on trips or any events. Always restless. She worked out a lot and took part in various fitness courses. I am rather the opposite. I'm the quiet type. On weekends, I'd rather watch a movie with a bag of chips and dressed in my favorite hoodie. That was my thing.

I think that was ultimately the reason for the relationship ending. Nice as she was she explained to me that she thought it was a shame because I was such a nice guy. She had fallen in love with her new fitness trainer, who has been leading the pelvic floor training course since the beginning of the week (I've never heard of such a muscle, but I'm no expert in the field either). The guy's name is Pat. Actually, she explained, his full name was Patrick Chou Li. But everyone in the studio just called him Pat.

Well, in the end, it was a short pleasure with Pepper. And with her, all the thoughts of leather handbags, rum and Pat Chou Li faded away.

End

Unfortunately, this fragrance disappointed me all along the line. I confess that I have been influenced by good ratings and reviews of certain Youtuber. High quality and cheap. Sounds good already. The fragrances have also appealed to me: pepper I smell only briefly at the beginning. Then follows something alcoholic that I can not define. The end is a light note of patchouli. That's all I can say about the notes. Overall, an inharmonious fragrance, from which I had expected a lot, but which does not fit at all to my collection and me.

H and S are actually good. The price, of course, unbeatable.

Still, not a fragrance I want to wear.

Thanks for reading. I hope my impression of Bentley for Men Intense has come across something.

Peace!

The problem: authenticity
During my time as a perfume enthusiast, I have of course come across leather fragrances again and again. I confess to be no friend of leather fragrances and so far no leather fragrance - and I'm talking about perfumes in which leather plays the main role - could convince me to buy. Too animalistic, sour, intrusive or fruity I felt the most.

Driven by the feeling that even a modest perfume collection without leather fragrance was not complete, I continued to search for a candidate.
In the process, then also led no way past AdP CL:

AdP Colonia Leather is an absolute masterpiece. One feels at the first spray already with what passion this perfume was made. It has such an excellent quality and creates for me an extremely authentic image of leather. And that's the problem.

In the meantime, my taste, as far as perfumes are concerned, has been largely consolidated. I like fougere, spicy and especially woody scents. If I wear a perfume, I try to select it according to the occasion. It should also match the wardrobe you are wearing. Leather, in most cases, does not match the occasion or the clothes I prefer to wear. Although I own two leather jackets and a leather shoulder bag, but the jackets are now rarely used and the bag is only in the office in the corner. So how does a leather scent fit into my life? AdP CL feels to me like carrying a piece of leather clothing. It smells so authentically like leather that you are bound to be on the lookout for a corresponding garment. Perhaps if I worked in a store that specialized in leather clothing, this fragrance would be an ideal complementary good. What I mean to say is: I can not imagine an occasion to which I can wear this beautiful fragrance, if I do not also want to start wearing leather pants regularly.

It's such a shame, because the quality and authenticity of this fragrance are outstanding. Craftsmanship masterpiece. For me also the best and only leather fragrance to date, which I appreciate and would ever buy. Also in terms of progression, durability and sillage CL is more than an excellent representative of the leather faction. What other leather perfumes do wrong, CL does right. And yet, I can't buy it.

How do I rate a fragrance that I think is excellent in terms of craftsmanship and quality, but doesn't reconcile well with my lifestyle? Since no wearability category exists, I have to include this very important factor in my evaluation to the fragrance and make deductions.

The brown collection of AdP is now no longer available. Residual items but partly to acquire. I fear that one day I will regret not having bought this fragrance.

Thanks for reading.

Peace!

Wood from Portugal
1931. Goa. The jungle. Burning heat.

Why I believed these old accounts I found in the Calcutta Public Library was a mystery to me to this day. As an archaeologist, I do chase after treasures whose real existence is based only on circumstantial evidence, legends and stories, but in this matter there was really little material that pointed to a hidden treasure, which is probably why little attention was paid to the contents and no one bothered to ever pursue it. I, however, was to be the exception.

According to the old record, there should be a secret place in the deep jungle of Goa, which holds a treasure that Portuguese colonialists should have brought here many years ago. I must confess that at the beginning of my trip I did not believe that I would be successful in my search. But I was to be mistaken and what I found deep in the jungle was indeed a treasure, although not in the classical sense.

for 34 days I was on the road as leader of the expedition with my faithful intern Stuart, Bodhi, a native of Goa, and two horses for support. It was not an easy research trip. On some days the rain got to us, on others the heat threatened to beat us to death. The jungle demanded everything from us. Often we thought we were chasing a ghost and were on the verge of giving up.
In the end, however, our patience paid off because something happened on August 14. On a hot afternoon we were marching east when we noticed that our surroundings had changed. It was as if we had entered another world: The vegetation around us seemed to have miraculously transformed. Plants that were completely foreign to this region were growing on a plain that was different from the exotic jungle. Only a few meters ahead of us was a clearing and we left the green roof of the jungle. We had not expected what suddenly appeared in front of us in the clearing. A walled fortress, similar to the one in Cala d'Or, appeared in front of us, shining in the light of the sun. Not only the location of the object but also the construction was completely untypical for this area. Such fortresses were more common in southern Europe. Even stranger, however, was the huge tree that protruded from the center of the fortress and did not resemble any tree in the vicinity.

We approached the fortress with cautious steps, as we were not sure if we were in enemy territory and had to fear being attacked. But nothing happened. Everything was quiet. Apparently the fortress was deserted. The gate was open. Still on guard, we entered the interior of the fortress. I could not believe my eyes, because what I saw was not what I expected: a magnificent garden lined the courtyard, shining in the sunlight. The sight alone was a delight to the eyes, but the fragrance in the air surpassed everything and instantly filled me with a feeling of bliss. I first heard refreshing citrus notes that seemed to come from the bergamot trees at the entrance. This was very quickly followed by the scent of lavender, which was soothingly warm and soft, ensnaring our olfactory senses. All around us the plant grew in glorious purple hues. The scent of lavender continued to accompany us for a long time until we made our way to the center of the courtyard. Then we stepped into the shade of the huge tree that towered proudly in the middle of the fortress. Apparently it was a cedar, for its pleasant woody, distinctive and comforting smell was unmistakable.
The garden exuded a beguiling woody aroma; an interplay of notes from a wide variety of shrubs and trees. An atmosphere of well-being. An aura of happiness. A magical moment in an extraordinary place. It was olfactory art in perfect form.

My companions and I felt inner peace, security and contentment. This place was a place of peace and perfection and the fortress its protection. We took a seat at one of the wooden benches, which were scattered throughout the courtyard, and let the magic work on us. The journey had paid off. No gold, no diamonds, no treasure in the classical sense, but something much more valuable.

After much thought, I understood the significance of this place: it was to remind the Portuguese colonialists of the forests of the Iberian Peninsula. A refuge of reflection. A piece of home.

If you read this report and should consider to visit this wonderful place, then I must ask for understanding for the fact that I cannot reveal the exact location to you. This place should not fall victim to commerce or tourism. It should remain what it is: the discovery of my life.

Peace!

A fragrance that does not exist as a scent
There are those moments when by chance you come across a scent and think, "Wow, what is that?" It happened to me when I got Dapper Dan Green into my shaving program. I wanted to put some of that aftershave on almost every day, but the whiskers didn't grow fast enough. So I had to use that as perfume. There was only one problem: It's only available as aftershave

Accordingly, the life span is somewhat short on the skin. On the other hand the silage is extreme in the first half hour.
It smells mainly of pleasant and strong menthol. Then it becomes spicy and finally woody.
The bottle represents the style of the 40s and 50s. And that's how it finally smells.

You have to like not only the pungent and cool smell of menthol but also the classic and clean barbershop aura of the 40s.

Perhaps one day a miracle will happen and the manufacturers will release a perfume to match this AS.

Until the next shave.

Peace!

If the manufacturer of the brand fries also produces for Aldi.
Behind some of the cheaper no-name products from the discounters are big brands. At Aldi and Co you get products for little money. In the supermarket one pays against it for the nearly identical mark product 3-5fache so much.
One is then the more astonished, if one experiences that the mark manufacturers produce also for the Discounter. Only they do not market these in the Discounter under their well-known brand name.

This philosophy is probably also lived in the fragrance world and therefore Mr. Bourdon has made it easy for himself.

I was able to test GIT some time ago and was stunned to hear Cool Water on my arm. I had already read some good things about GIT. About as often read the comparison to Cool Water. With shock I then had to find out that the rumor is true. Both fragrances are very similar, are almost identical.

Both classics I would not be able to distinguish if I had them on a strip of paper in front of me. But maybe I'm not perceptive enough to smell out the difference. You have to look at the price alone to determine which of the two is the branded product. Whereby I must say that Cool Water is by no means a no-name product.

It's a clever pricing strategy: sell a good product at a horrendous price. If it sells well, make an almost identical product cheaper for the masses. This way you cover both consumer groups and make twice as much profit.

It may be that the fragrances differ in terms of the quality of the ingredients. However, these differences are marginal in my opinion.

Cool Water I appreciate very much. If I were to give a rating, I would have to give the same points for the fragrances, because they are, justifiably, fragrance twins. And as long as the rating category "price" does not exist in this forum, I could not rate them differently.

Only because of its popularity, GIT is the primus inter pares.

See you soon.

Peace!
