Soft, smooth, nutty and musky
This is a pleasant fragrance. I personally think it is a bit overhyped. When you can buy it from a discounter it is definitely worth the price. But it is rather plain to be so hyped.

You get the grapefruit, soft tonka/almond, you get some musk. It stays quite long, but get's close to the skin very quick. It is because of this I think it get's bad longevity ratings, but actually, longevity is quite good, just close to the skin and rather soft.

To me, it's not really fresh, but rather soft musky and a bit sweet.

A lot of vetiver for a small price.
What is there to add? Vetiver? Yes and lot's of it?
A LOT of quality for a small price? Absolutely!

You get a lot of earthy vetiver, but not too dirty. Performance is quite good, I would not want more from a fragrance like this.

A lot of people say it is niche for a small price. I think that's a bit of a stretch, but it is crazy good for the price. If you like earthy vetiver, get this.

I have tried Chanel Sycomore, and I would never spend that kind of money if you can get this. And I don't say this often about niche/designer smell alikes.

Black Aoud Rose Monster
So, where to begin. The first time I smelled this was on a paper strip in a store. It was quite pleasant at the moment. A masculine rosy fragrance.

A while later I had the chance to buy it at half price, so I went for it. It begins very rosey, and soon it goes in a very aoudy medicinal/patchouli direction. I always find ik difficult to say something about sillage and projection, except for this fragrance. When I do one spray, my girlfriend smells it from the other side of the house when I come in. Like 8 meters further and her feedback is: "You have sprayed too much perfume!".

When I got the fragrance, I was at the office and I sprayed two sprays. A mistake... My boss said: what is this strong smell, it's like pot pourrri. Just to say, this is a whole other level of beast mode, more monster mode.

I have a love hate relationship with this. I start to like it after like 7 hours, when it's tamed a bit. I have thought about selling it, but everytime I change my mind.

The Oud smells synthetic and medicinal. I had the privilege to smell two kinds of oud oil, and they smelled so magical and natural. They evolved beautifully and this oud smell seems very static.

It's not a bad scent, Black Aoud, but I'm not really in love with it. It ends kind of spicy patchouli. Definitely try before buy.

Classy, classic, floral, honey...
I got this fragrance in the beginning of 2020. I asked a coupon for a niche fragrance store for Christmas, but instead got a coupon for our local designer fragrance store. A bit bummed I went out to check what they had. Being bored by the 4 scent profiles you get in 80% of the designer fragrances, I smelled this Cartier. I always liked the Cartier fragrances, they always are quality, have class, and are not too focused on the craze of the moment.

In the beginning, I was kind of surprised by it. You get the iris, but not in a "I want to sell a lot of perfume so I make my own version of Dior Homme". It is not powdery at all, but elegant iris, with a very classy honey note that stays kind of fresh through the life of the fragrance.

There is a very subtle smokey guaiac wood supporting it.

This is a fragrance that is ideal for fall and winter. It is not loud, it is a classy fragrance, but it has a really good fragrance experience. You get a nice scent bubble for about a whole day. So longevity is good. Nu beast projection, but this is not what most wearers of this type of classy fragrance seak.

This is a more mature fragrance, but not old smelling. I would say 30 and up.

One of my favorite designers at the moment and can be had for a steal at the discounters. Contrary to a lot of reformulated designers that can be had at the discounters, this one is still high quality. I guess the reason that you can have it for cheap is that it is not a great commercial success.

Warm, cosey, (slightly) boozy palatable A*men sibling
Sinds the late 90s I have been in love with A*men. Finding it a bit to edgy at the time, I never wore it then. Not caring so much now and fragrance times that have changed, made me ware the original A*men now and I'm pretty happy with my 2012 bottle.

I read sooooo many good reviews about pure malt and pure havane and after reading a lot about them I chose Pure Malt. I bought it at a retailer in 2019 and was so lucky to get an old bottle of 2015 that still was before the l'oreal takeover. It still has "Thierry Mugler" on it. I only found out afterward, that there was a difference. I have never smelled the "Mugler" version.

The scent is pretty sweet and smoother than the original. Warm caramelly, coffeeish and very slightly boozy. This is an original scent, but is no way bold niche whiskey fragrance.

If it's name was not pure malt, I would never associated it with whiskey. And if I associate it now, it is with very smooth, whiskey, with no rough salty or peaty elements what soever.

The performance is good for me. Good longevity, a whole day long and good projection for the first few hours. No super beast, but as I wrote many times. I don't need beastmode all the time.

This is not really a complex scent, fairly lineair, but very good none the less if you can pick it up at a discounter for a warm gourmandish, smoother take on A*men.

I still love the A*men bottle, also with the warm caramelly liquid in the star. The sprayer is awful as with all rubber A*men bottles, unless you cut it, but I'm not going to wreck my Pure Malt bottle...
