A fine masterpiece ..
Rarely experienced such a fine masterpiece. A soft, beguiling oriental that has a great flow. So finely blended and so versatile. Again and again, the wearer discovers new fine details. I don't understand the statements that describe the fragrance as simply sweet, but the fragrance is not that sweet at all and has so much to tell. As a lover of the Orient, I am almost moved by how close the fragrance comes to my impressions of and from Oman. Many oriental perfumes are heavy, very dense, dark and very strong. I love it that way, but I understand that there are people for whom it is often too much. With this fragrance, the Orient is soft, almost a touch transparent, warm like the sun in the Orient and interesting like the spice markets that are everywhere..

When you spray on the fragrance, you are immediately in Muscat at the market. The atmosphere is bright, very friendly, it's incredibly warm and it smells so incredibly good. Super friendly sellers give me a friendly smile from every side and give me a sign that I should take their saffron, fresh cinnamon, cardamom etc in my hand and sniff it. I do and a soft explosion of warm spices caresses my nose. I have arrived in fragrance heaven. I walk on and nibble again and again on the fresh, juicy dates that are offered to me everywhere. I make my way back to the hotel. My legs are tired and my face is burning from the sun. As I enter the lobby, I am greeted by the familiar scent of soft incense, the scent you can enjoy in any hotel lobby in Oman, Dubai or Abu Dhabi. Not strong but just the right amount. There are small incense burners with incense in the corners. If you stand in the right light, you can sense a small soft white cloud spreading the scent. All these scents are supported by a sweet, dark rose that watches over the whole like a queen of the Orient. The fragrance has a slight animalic note for the first hour, which comes from the oud, in the drydown the oud becomes very soft and gives the fragrance just a little twist.

For me such a fine masterpiece that tells such a fine story. A fragrance that absolutely must be tested if you love oriental perfumes.

A unisex fragrance that goes a little more in the masculine direction but can be worn by everyone. H+S is very good.

Patience pays off..
The beginning is really bad for me in the truest sense of the word. The beginning reminds me a lot of one of my absolute nemesis, the "Casamorati - Italica | XerJoff". It's thick, extremely sweet and smells like lukewarm almond milk for the first 30 minutes. There is also a hint of baked apple with cinnamon in the background that doesn't smell real. For me, it really makes me want to run away. Nasty, very, very nasty..

After 30 minutes, however, the scent changes for the better. It becomes very powdery and a touch lighter. A slightly dusty walnut note, which smells really divine, gives the fragrance a welcome dose of seriousness and the scent slowly says goodbye to the kindergarten party with apple tart and warm milk and moves towards the bakery and apple/walnut tart with cinnamon. In the further drydown, apricot and peach flash through and after several hours the fragrance even becomes really nice. What definitely remains is the apple tart with walnut powder and a little cinnamon... The apricot garnish at the end does the tart a lot of good

Well, I think I'm out of the age where it's cool to smell like apple pie etc, I would like to smell like perfume and not like cake etc but if you like such notes, you should be patient a bit, give the fragrance time and look forward to the very nice drydown. Not mine but the drydown is not badly done...

When oakmoss is on fire ...
It doesn't work at all. For the life of me, I don't understand the comparison with Baccarat Rouge 540. I see zero similarity.

I smell a super penetrating oakmoss note, my nemesis, which really burns down to the last brain cell. The oakmoss was sprayed with Elnett Harspray from my youth. A headache candidate that is second to none. There is also an excessive load of ambroxan. All the other notes are a chaos that cannot be tamed..

I would have smelled it fleetingly in a perfumery and would have remembered it as an okay or maybe candidate. Fortunately, I got a bottle and was able to test it properly. Just creepy for me ...

Wolf in sheep's clothing..
I must be slowly realizing for myself that the Gritti brand is not my brand. No hits so far. Many boring, pleasing and many with poor durability, with a few exceptions that I didn't like because they were too masculine etc.. But I really like the flacons. Many fragrances are too similar to cheap designer perfumes, which have even better longevity. It's exactly the same with "Because I'm Free | Gritti" ...

The fragrance is extremely similar to "L'Interdit (Eau de Parfum Rouge) | Givenchy", which I would even prefer if it were mine, but it's not. The scent is a mix of super sweet fruits and a bubblegum tuberose. Very girly and super mainstream, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but for the price you could just as easily go to the "green" store and get the "L'Interdit (Eau de Parfum Rouge) | Givenchy", which has great longevity and is much cheaper. The difference between the two fragrances is really minimal . However, as it progresses, the Gritti becomes sour and a touch green and becomes a bit burning/stinging, which I don't like. So, as always, a fragrance from the brand that is absolutely nothing for me.

Like a feather in the wind...
So beautiful, so fine and so noble. An incredibly beautiful fragrance for everyday life. By everyday I mean that the fragrance is quiet and gives me a feeling of security. It's so soft and powdery, like little clouds of powder that swirl happily around you. Quiet and delicate like a feather in the wind..

Although no green notes are listed, I strangely smell something green in the opening. Like freshly mown grass or fresh hay. God knows where these associations come from. Perhaps from the neroli? In the drydown, these "green" associations disappear and the iris is really radiant but super creamy, warm and soft, not cold as it can be with iris from time to time. The very present heliotrope note is out of this world. It comes towards you like a warm, powdery embrace. It has been a long time since I smelled such a noble fragrance. Noble and very cozy, warm. Kashmir sweater associations without ifs and buts..

The durability on my difficult skin is average. Sillage is very quiet. A fragrance that I like incredibly well. It's actually too quiet for me, but it's so beautiful that I find it hard not to buy it. Well, I find the bottle creepy but you can hide it..

Many thanks to Pollita for the sample.
