I have to say, I just adore this. I am a huge vanilla lover so of course I was curious to try this. It's not your typical "ice cream" type vanilla. It's slightly sweet, but mostly dry and quite woody. I can smell the cedar trees blowing in the breeze in the background, while the dusty vanilla shines in the forefront. I do get mimosa, but that doesn't bother me (I'm not a huge fan of mimosa) and I think it helps round out the composition. I don't care what anyone says, this is a masterpiece, especially for the price, and in my book, Jacques Cavallier can do no wrong

I am so glad I got my hands on this!! It's not really out yet in the US but I'm wearing it today (got the hookup! ;)) I have the previous Alien Liqueur de Parfum version, and I can tell you this one is definitely different. It's still a little boozy but a totally different vibe. Honestly I felt there were so many stages to this perfume that I was just perplexed the entire time. I can't recall another perfume that seemed to morph as frequently as often as this one. At first I loved the boozy, classic Alien vibe right off the bat. There was no mistaking it as Alien. After a few minutes, as the middle notes emerged, I got a distinct cherry almond pastry vibe that I was REALLY digging and made me consider a full bottle. But a couple hours later the scent had a very cold, almost medicinal quality to it, reminiscent of Thierry Mugler's Miroir de Secrets. As I sniffed my arms in those last few hours, the only thing I kept thinking was baby powder, baby powder, and more baby powder. It was bizarre, as I don't get that from any other Alien. I thought, no, I must be mistaken. But sure enough, I kept sniffing on and off for a couple hours and there it was, baby powder. A disappointing end to what had started off as a delightful olfactory journey. Unfortunate since I would never consider purchasing a fragrance with unappealing base notes. I thought I liked this more than the previous Liqueur version, but now after wearing it for over 9 hours (it's barely hanging in there, but I can still smell it) I think I like the previous version better.

What can I say? This is a serious dupe for Dior Addict. It may not be quite as nice or as rich, but it's darn close, and can be bought for much cheaper. Don't ask me why on Earth I bought it, as I have 3.4 ounces of the original Dior Addict, which I love but will never finish! Well I figured, why not? And I'm crazy, of course. I thought it could be sort of like a "back up" of Addict. It really does smell similar. It's nice, no doubt, but Addict wins. I guess having this is cool though because it's getting harder to find, and I can use it as room spray or something without having to use up my precious Addict! Who knows, I may swap it one day...

I love this perfume! First of all, I have a bottle of the old stuff. Yes, I tried the reformulation. It wasn't as bad as people are claiming, but not quite as rich as the older version. For me this scent is extremely strong and I get headaches easily if I overdo it, but one spray (it comes out like a shower anyways, so that's all I need) is magical. The scent lasts forever on the skin and is sexy, rich, and full bodied. Men love it, women love it. It's got a very unique smell in the way that Dior Hypnotic Poison does. They don't smell alike, but to me the idea of them being so strange but yet so appealing is something they have in common. These fragrances come from a different era of Dior- the last great Dior fragrance era (before they started reformulating every single mainstream scent they make within a matter of years). I won't wax poetic on the notes, as they don't do the scent justice. The scent is a vanilla oriental, but nothing "run of the mill". It's such a unique experience that just has to be tried. There's nothing else like it out there... well, except XOXO Heartbeat, but that's another story...

This perfume is not easy to come by in the States! I was glad to acquire a sample. I am sort of obsessed with Loukhoum scents, and even more than anything I'm an almond freak, so I was very excited to try this. Let me say that my first impression was Ludens cherry cough drops. Not really that bad, but a little syrupy sweet, artificial, and somewhat surprising to be honest. I didn't hate the cherry, but it wasn't my finest hour (or 3) with Lutens. Yes, the almond was there throughout, however I felt it took several hours to get to that delicious, soft, delicate, feminine, almond pastry stage. One it got there, I was in heaven, however I felt the time taken to get there wasn't necessarily worth it. The whole time I kept waiting for the cherry to fade, and when it did I was awestruck, but man, it took hours! Once I got to the stage where it smelled so amazing, the sillage had faded significantly, so that was a minus as well. And by the way, where's the rose? If you're looking for a Loukhoum with a prominent rose note, this isn't it. You'd be better off with Ava Luxe Loukhoum which has a prominent candied rose note throughout. So bottom line, if I was given a bottle or decant, I'd wear it, but I don't believe the scent warrants the outrageous price tag. For a gorgeous Loukhoum scent, try the Ava Luxe, or better yet, try Montale's Sweet Oriental Dream.
