I against myself
Good old Aventus, my first niche perfume as a bottle, I often ask myself, why? I just don't like fresh fragrances at all, but I thought that sweet perfumes in spring and summer weren't so practical. That's why I ordered some rehearsals, including the "King" after some Youtube reviews and hype. The reality is that I can't judge the whole thing and I think a lot of people can understand that. It is fruity, flowery, earthy, fresh, wooden and sweet. Sometimes it has a great shelf life, sometimes it's gone after 2 hours. It should pass as an absolute complimentary, as a Swiss pocket knife, as a "can opener", yes I know, I also find the expression ridiculous. Does one smell so banal, as if one "only" just comes out of the shower? No. In my opinion, does it smell so horny that you can confirm everything above? No. Am I sure I'd like to spend almost 200 euros on it? No. Do I wear it often? No. Do I want to sell it? No, somehow not... Do you smell like everybody else? Jaein. You smell more expensive than Bleu de Chanel, more expensive than Dior Sauvage. Will people like him more than the two mentioned, will people realize that you're wearing a
expensive perfume? I don't know, I don't know, I don't know, I don't know. You see, Aventus is a difficult subject for me... I often wake up too, look at the 200 Euro bottle and wonder why? Then again, shortly before the decision to sell him again, I smell the spray head and somehow he won't let go of me. It's just as hard for me to let him go. I wonder if it's because I'm not a big fan of fresh scents, that I quarrel with him like that? I might. Will I wrestle with myself for some time to see if he doesn't prefer to make room for something that I really love and 100% suits me? Probably.

Difficult and complex subject for such a small bottle of perfume. But isn't perfume that anyway? It's hard to believe scents can do that to you. Actually I wanted to buy 10 to 20 fragrances. To paired with good shoes, a good top, whether suit or leather jacket and styled hair, for all occasions the perfect fragrance to have what 10-20 fragrances in my opinion, perfectly possible. But I find myself dealing more and more with fragrances and becoming more and more willing to spend thousands of dollars on them. But perfumes have something. A perfume, is a memory (as in my Herod commentary). A statement. An attitude. A perfume is a suit, a leather jacket, a good pair of shoes, a cashmere sweater, a luxury watch. And with different scents, which probably all registered here possess, one is able to carry Monday a Rolex, Tuesday a Patek, Wednesday an Omega, Thursday a Hamilton, Friday a Seiko... and that with 5 sprayers from a more or less chic and more or less expensive bottle, I hope you know what I mean. Why is Aventus so successful? Because he's got something. He's got character. He's a statement, an attitude. He's the Rolex of fragrances. And even if you're only wearing thin, inconspicuous watches, someone with a Rolex will run past you, you'll remember.

Why do I have such a quarrel with Aventus? Even if it's not my king, it's still a king.

Chocolate praline cocoa vanilla milkshake
So if you look at reviews on Youtube, or read some comments here that say that the fragrance is very synthetic, I really wonder if I'm just a bit weird. I'm not a fan of designer fragrances at all. I find most of them, at least for a man himself 80% identical (just my opinion), apart from the fact that they are often unwearable for me personally, because they either just smell like indefinable sweetness, or they smell as if you just showered with some Axe shower gel, which is just not how I would like to smell. Therefore I have, although I am just at the beginning, almost only niche fragrances in my watch list, or in the fragrances that I would like to own if I have enough money :D However, this fragrance is simply really cool. That's what I have in the title, that's what it smells like to me. Well, admittedly, that doesn't sound very masculine, but the typical code DNA makes him masculine in any case. I get almost everywhere very regular compliments and the part lasts the whole day! You won't be anosmic for at least 5 hours (at least I won't) and so have the whole evening off. What brings me to the next point doesn't misunderstand me, the part is awesome, but please, please don't spray it. Everyone knows the people who come in somewhere and smoke out the whole room immediately. No matter how horny the perfume smells, no matter how sexy it is, it's a nuisance! So take it easy! They'll smell you.

Fragrance:
Starts for me with light oranges and apple notes and chocolate, then becomes more and more gourmand, goes towards chocolate praline, mixed with leather, just absolutely cool!

Sillage,Shelf life:
You and all the others will watch each other for 6-8 hours, never spray over, otherwise you will smell like the people who go shopping with 10 One Million sprayers.

Situation where I see the scent:
Good earning businessman, gets into his sports car and picks up his wife after work to have a nice dinner with her. Before, 5 sprays of Code Profumo are applied to the neck and behind the ears. After the romantic meal they take a walk in a beautiful park. Outside there is typical autumn weather, a light wind blows, it slowly gets colder again. The woman is wearing a pretty dress and a light coat, surprised by the weather, she begins to freeze. The man, who undoubtedly has good manners, puts his scarf on her. She now smells the whole walk over, the profumo on the scarf, the mixture of orange chocolate, with a mixture of black luxury leather and knows how lucky she is to have it.

Brighton and my first great love...
Parfums de Marly Herod and Brighton, the famous seaside resort in England where Abbey and co. were already filmed downtown. Now you're wondering how this fits together and why I'm writing my first comment here on this very fragrance, in connection with this place. At the beginning of 2019 I visited my girlfriend who is doing a year abroad in England. She has been living near London for 6 months now and on her birthday, I visited her and then spent a weekend with her in Brighton. Now exactly at this time, I registered here in this forum and ordered my first scent samples due to my enthusiasm for scents, and different reviews and evaluations here. Now that my girlfriend is the one who smells me the most (okay, sounds weird, I know...), I thought I'd just take the scent samples with me so she can test them. Among these scent samples was now also the said Herod. We checked into our hotel and on the second day, we had planned to spend the evening all over England in the restaurant awarded by the "Times" as the best vegetarian restaurant. This was of course only possible for us as "poor" students, because her host family gave her a voucher for the said restaurant for her birthday. In the hotel room I dug up my scent samples and decided to wear "Herod" this evening. Of course I had no idea what to expect and when I sprayed it on, I was greeted by a sweet tobacco note and an unbelievable warmth. We dressed up and now we started, it was a wonderful evening, the stars were shining and we had time to talk about everything. We trudged along the Brighton Pier, on the way to the restaurant, talked, laughed, and finally had each other back. All the time, Herod, that cuddly tobacco smell, enriched me with a beautiful vanilla, surrounded me. The food was wonderful and we talked for almost 3 hours without interruption about plans, wishes and the future. After dinner we went back to the hotel, it was raining cats and dogs, I felt like in a movie, in a strange place, after a great evening, with my sweetheart and there was someone or something that accompanied me the whole evening and that was Herod. Now I am sitting here, back in Germany, the weekend in Brighton with my girlfriend, is now almost 2 months ago. She's back in England and I'm in Germany. And that's going to be the case for months to come. But when I want to be in Brighton again, stand at the Brighton Pier with my girlfriend and remember the moment when everything was perfect. When we were together again and knew that this would never change, I took my Herod out of the cupboard and smelled the small spray head. And then I feel how much I miss her and how much I love her.
And the latter is valid since then, also for the small dark brown, matte, bottle, at which I now and then just sniff to recapitulate this beautiful memory.
I am sure, my friend, will have a place in my heart forever and since that evening, Herod will too!

perfumes, make memories.
