Now he's gone..
I've only just decided to write a review of this particular scent and it's because I sold my Layton today. The parting was not easy for me, but I have survived more difficult farewells and life will go on without Layton.

Layton was my first "niche" fragrance and also the first fragrance I spent so much money on. I thought it would stay in my collection forever. Today I had to find out once again, wrong thought... Although I first Herod and later also Percival inspired, I have struck first with Layton. I have to admit that I was influenced by all the praises on Parfumo and Youtube and just had to have this fragrance. It was not a blind purchase, because I have tested the fragrance first in a perfumery and then also got me 2 original samples to convince me of its quality and uniqueness.

In the beginning, I went with Layton very sparingly, even though I owned the 125 ml bottle. It was so unique to me that I only wore it on special occasions. In the beginning, I already thought that the fragrance is so great that it will rain compliments and I will surely be asked about my fragrance often. Well, wrong again. In the past two years, I haven't been asked about Layton once and there haven't been any compliments either. Strange, isn't it? With Valentino Uomo Intense or D&G Light Blue Intense, it's quite different and there are always compliments and inquiries. The compliments are also not so important to me, but after so many praises I found it very strange.

Layton opens very fruity, but also mentholated and then becomes slightly woody and very sweet later on. Layton has for me a very nice DNA, however, it is very monotonously sweet and you smell only a few individual fragrance components out. The most distinct I smell is a very nice vanilla in the drydown and otherwise it's the apple in the opening, the lavender and probably guaiac wood. I don't smell any other fragrances out here. Layton to me is like a sweet fruit basket doused with lots of nice vanilla. I realized over time that it's just too sweet for me and for that reason, its adult brother Layton Exclusif will probably replace it in my collection.

The second reason Layton had to go is called Détour Noir by Al Haramain. Through this fragrance I started to doubt the quality of Parfums de Marly and I couldn't explain how it is possible to make such a similar clone for so little money. I immediately sold my Detour Noir because I'm not a big fan of dupes, but it left a bitter aftertaste and I started thinking about the quality of Layton and the price. If I hadn't tried Detour Noir, Layton would still be in my collection. So they both had to go and I will probably only give Layton Exclusif another chance.

I will also not change my rating here, because Layton will always be special to me and this fragrance DNA is really very nice, but I will not wear it again.

Thanks for reading and a nice weekend to all!

Ignored for a long time and then learned to love it at first whiff!
XerJoff is a brand that I ignored for a very long time. One of the reasons is that no perfumery near me has this brand in their assortment and another reason is that I had prejudices against this brand and thought that it is a brand for high society and just does not fit my personality.
I somehow associated the name XerJoff with Russia and this name seemed very aloof, cold and unapproachable to me. It all just seemed way too luxurious and extravagant to me and the pompous bottles and their packaging also contributed a lot to me developing this prejudice against XerJoff.

However, after hearing more and more praises about this brand, I just couldn't ignore it anymore and I then read up on the brand first and lo and behold, XerJoff is an Italian brand and has nothing to do with Russia. :D
Italy sounds much better, I thought, because it conveys warmth, openness, ease and the dolce vita and there I just feel better than in the pompous, aloof and cold high society world.

I tested then in the spring first the two Mefistos from the Casamorati series and I liked them very much. Later came Alexandria II and 40 Knots to it. You already notice that I got to know Naxos only later, because I also developed prejudices in this case and saw no need to test this fragrance.
I thought that Naxos would be too sweet, sticky and heavy for me and somehow be some kind of old man scent. Oh all these prejudices... :D

Then when I spent my holiday abroad a month ago, I visited a nice perfumery. I then had Alexandria II sprayed on one arm and Naxos on the other and left. It was a very hot day and both fragrances did very well on my skin, although I've always thought that only fresh, citrusy and aquatic fragrances would work for me in the summer. Once again thought wrong... :D

I can tell you only one thing, prejudices are just stupid and it almost always comes differently than you think!
I sniffed my arm all day and Naxos had me so captivated that I knew right away he was going to move in with me without any further testing.
I then ordered it a few days ago, got it delivered on Friday and haven't worn another scent since. Yes, it's only three days, but who wears the same scent three days in a row? :D

Naxos opens with a very nice, soft and creamy lemon. Immediately thereafter, the floral and aromatic notes come through the lavender to it and the honey is also not long in coming and also remains present until the end.
I would define Naxos as floral sweet at first, but very airy and not sticky. I must confess that this first hour is nice, but didn't completely convince me right away. It lacked a bit more masculinity for me because at this point, like a nice expensive sunscreen, Naxos smelled very creamy, sweet and very slightly citrusy and floral and that was a bit too feminine for me.
From start to finish, Naxos is very soft and has a nice flow. Who is looking for a fragrance with rough edges here, could be out of place.

I love Naxos from the time where the tobacco dazugesellt and he thereby spicier and more masculine. In the Dry Down with the vanilla and tonka bean united, I find him then fantastically beautiful. This sweetness by the vanilla and tonka bean in conjunction with the tobacco and the honey I personally find more beautiful than the floral honey sweetness at the beginning.
Basically, however, I find the dry down in almost all fragrances better than the top note.

The quality is really very good and Naxos smells very natural. Each of the individual fragrance notes is very recognizable and the course is very nice and softly tuned.
The durability and sillage are very good and the fragrance lasts all day. Less is more here and you should not overdo it with the spraying.

When I looked at the list of owners of Naxos at Parfumo, I was surprised. Once again... :D The ratio is 11.4% women and 88.6% men. I would have seen the ratio more balanced than it actually is. That's probably because of the tobacco note, which is a bit off-putting, but because that note isn't too strong, I can very well imagine Naxos being worn quite well by women.

Should I ever have smelled this fragrance on a lady, I'll write another post here and give my opinion again. :D

Naxos is a perfume that can be worn always and by everyone and should be tested at least once in life. How else should you know if it is not THE ONE fragrance...?

I wish you still a nice Sunday evening and thank you for reading.

The on-off relationship with a fragrance!
Gentle Fluidity Silver is one of those fragrances that I found good from the start, but not outstanding! The reason was probably that I also ordered a sample of Roja Elysium Parfum Cologne at the same time and I was so intrigued by this fragrance.

I think both fragrances are in the same vein and I would include Creed Aventus and Nishane Hacivat in that. They are not fragrance twins, but they are all fresh, woody, fruity, ideal for the warm temperatures and can be worn in leisure, as well as in the office.

Gentle Fluidity Silver starts with a very sharp, cool and metallic note and then becomes more fruity and woody after a short while. It has a very good sillage in the first few hours and the longevity is also very good for a fresh fragrance.
The development of the fragrance is also very dependent on the temperature. The warmer the air temperature and therefore the body temperature are, the more fruity and pleasant this fragrance. I also do not feel him as unisex, because he is very masculine by this cool freshness.

But there is also the other side of this fragrance and then he can be, as already mentioned, very cool and by its synthetics also strongly annoying and also trigger a headache. I can very well imagine that it is the coriander that always annoys me. This synthetic in the GFS is not a cheap synthetic that you usually find in cheap designer fragrances. I'd almost say it's the typical MFK note, which is also intentional.
Already at the sight of the bottle you can guess that it is a clean and fresh fragrance that radiates a certain coolness.

For me, there are 3 rules that I have to follow if I want to wear this fragrance:

1. The air temperature must not be too cool (min. 15°C - the warmer the better)
2. I must be in a very good mood that day
3. I must not show any signs of a headache before that day

GFS I have worn very often, had him first as a bottling and then also as a bottle in my collection. The bottle I sold after a few months and later but again ordered a sample. For me, it's a fragrance I love to wear some days, but never twice in a row. I don't want to completely exclude this fragrance from my collection and be able to wear it sometimes when I feel like it. For this purpose, however, a small bottling is enough for me and it will probably stay that way, although I keep thinking of having it back as a bottle in the collection.

As you can see, it's a back and forth between Gentle Fluidity Silver and me! It's like being in a relationship that doesn't have much of a future! You try again and again and for one day it goes well, only to find out on the second day that you're already annoyed again and you prefer the less annoying alternatives... :D

Thanks for reading!

The "You can't get in" scent...
Hello folks,

i think that the headline already reveals relatively much about my opinion of this fragrance.... I just hope that the headline is not too harsh or somehow discriminatory, because it should not be in any case...

I ordered a 2 ml sample of Kalan from a nice perfumo a few months ago and have worn and tested it a few times. At first I was not so negative, because he reminded me of the well-known fragrance of MFK, but over time my opinion has changed a bit.

Kalan starts with a dry blood orange, accompanied by a smell of burnt tires or scorched electrics, as it has been mentioned many times before. The scent seems kind of metallic and cool. It is sweet, but not PdM-typical through vanilla, as is the case with Layton, Herod or Pegasus. To me it also smells like lipstick and also has something of Baccarat Rouge, however I wouldn't call it a clone.

The fragrance is very artificial and you can smell little from the fragrance pyramid.
I have the feeling that one wanted to make here a dirtier Baccarat Rouge version for the "real man" and that is also by and large succeeded.

But...

Meanwhile I find Kalan just too artificial and pushy, going in a direction I can do very little with. It is for me a kind of perfume, like Joop Homme.... I don't mean a similarity here through the fragrance notes, but the intrusive sweetness. For me it's just too much "perfume" and too much of the sweet undefined something.... Little natural and very penetrating.

The color red also fits perfectly with the Kalan, because I see red when I smell it....

I also see an angular man with a lot of gel in his slicked back hair wearing a red shirt tucked into his black pants with a thick black leather jacket over it and black boots on his feet.... The red Corvette parked in front of his establishment also matches this scent perfectly.... I've never been to the Kiez, but somehow I imagine Kalan might be a well worn scent there.... I'm probably wrong here, but that's what goes through my head when I smell Kalan.

To me, this scent just represents something there that I am not and don't want to be.
A few weeks ago I put Kalan on without thinking much, ran down the stairs and met my nice neighbor again. :) I was just thinking afterwards, why of all days I had that scent on and what she will just think about me now.... :D

This fragrance I could imagine, if at all only outside, because it is just too penetrating and intrusive indoors.

Now I understand why this fragrance is so polarizing.... Some feel this kind of fragrances as very masculine, but I have other ideas and see it differently.

Kalan, that's why I say only one more sentence to you: "You do not come purely in my collection"! :D

Here's to being a good neighbor!
Hi guys!

Spring is a long time coming, the fog just won't go away and the snowflakes keep falling from the sky. It is very cold.
This depressing weather was getting on my nerves again today and I had to do something about it.
Even though it was cold, I needed to get out today. A walk would certainly do me good, I thought to myself. I took a few spritzes of Vetiver Pamplemousse, put on my winter jacket and went outside. Since I live on the outskirts of a small town in Tyrol, walking fields are practically on my doorstep.

I decided not to just go for a walk though, it was going to be a mix of a walk and "fast walking" as I stood on the scales yesterday and realised I was 2.5kg over my ideal weight. :D Thank Corona! So today should be sporty! :D

I took quick and long steps, sank into my thoughts and noticed a slight whiff of Vetiver Pamplemousse in my nose. And that's when I remembered again a situation from last summer.

On a beautiful summer day I went for a walk with my better half and sprayed me before also with Vetiver Pamplemousse. I ordered a 10 ml roll-on of this fragrance and a 90 ml bottle at that time. Should I use up the 10 ml roll-on quickly and would I like the scent, then the 90 ml variant may also stay.

I then tested the fragrance mostly in my spare time and wore it when I went to the lake, shopping or walking... I also liked the fragrance very much, but it was somehow too light for me. Since he smelled but so natural, I gave him again and again a chance and this walk should be the last test.

2 hours later we went home again and in the stairwell I heard that someone else came after us. It was the neighbor from the 2nd floor... :D "Who smells so good?" she said and came towards me, but stopped again. I'm not sure now if it was the Corona situation or my better half's evil eye. :D She just muttered, "I don't have a scent on today," and I grinned. :D

The neighbor was thrilled and said it was a very nice and floral scent. Well, floral it is not necessarily, but we don't want to be petty and critical. I told her that it is a unisex fragrance from Zara and told her the name.

Arrived in the apartment, the decision was already made. The 90 ml bottle stays in any case! :D I thought I could apply the fragrance when I need to quickly times in the basement, or drive the car into the garage, or when I take out the garbage. You never know who you might run into in the stairwell. :D

Jo Malone has conjured here really a very nice and natural fragrance for little money.
Vetiver Pamplemousse starts with a very natural, bitter grapefruit. To bite in beautiful! After that, the somewhat sweet mandarin and the vetiver joins in. The scent consists only of these three components and I don't smell anything else. It becomes at no time too sweet and remains rather bitter and the earthy vetiver gives it a slightly more masculine touch.

To the wearer, the H&S appears to be weak, but the fragrance is perceived by the surrounding people better than one would assume.

Vetiver Pamplemousse is a good mood fragrance for both men and women and I would heartily recommend it to anyone.

Since I like to associate fragrances with memories, I will keep it in fond memories of being a good neighbor. :D

P.S. I just hope that Mr. Neighbor isn't logged into Parfumo and reading this. If he is and I haven't been online for 1-2 days, then "CALL 911"! :D

I wish you still a nice Sunday evening!
