The pine forest from childhood
Hello Parfumas and Parfumos,
after a long abstinence I am back at the start!
Coincidentally, I'm in Düsseldorf in the Manufaktum reinmaschiert. With a good friend we wanted to look at this special shop. Who does not know it: There the tools, cosmetics, garden and kitchen accessories, decoration and everything in the higher price segment - mostly.
So, now to the scent. While looking around, my nose actually heard interesting scents. Following the olfactory trail I soon came to the row where the perfumes stood. Nothing what I knew. Flacons rather inconspicuous, pleasing retro and almost cheap looking. I skimmed the fragrances and stuck to a bottle that reminded me of the Serge Lutens series. Simple, clear lines. In the Woods. So let's see what this can do. I pulled out the test strip and sprayed it once. Boom! Woods, earth, childhood, hiking, pine cones, resinous fingers, prickly pine needles. I was so surprised, I'm sure I stood there for a few minutes processing the images in my head. This scent is rich, has a rounded body, it needs space. It immediately becomes clear to me that careful dosing is a must, as the sillage is inescapable.
The opening starts with pine for me, juniper mixes in a bit and pepper adds a bit of spice. Half an hour later, ITW now seems more resinous, more balsamic, warmer too. It seems eerily masculine to me. Like a well-built, bearded man chopping pine on a mountain...
We are now at about 6 hrs on skin and clothes. The stock seems softer. It still crackles some pine after, but it is now gently woody. Clearly noticeable is still fir and amber.
Conclusion: I am positively flashed and also surprised when I read the ingredients. This could have backfired and smelled horribly like Christmas market fragrance oil. Instead, it turned out to be a strong (niche) fragrance with what I think is a very bold composition. DSquared had once brought out Woods, also not bad, but by no means as sophisticated composed as ITW.
To me it's not unisex, it's very masculine and "beardy". But basically I'm not a fan of the gender madness. Of course, women may, should also wear everything. In this fragrance, however, I immediately had a clear picture of the carrier...
I put this lucky find on my wish list, because then I can always make an olfactory journey into the forest.
For me, a resounding yes. Yes to testing. And if you wear a beard, buy it directly! ?
Durability 13 hrs on clothes, slightly less on skin.
Sillage: none get away scot-free. All come along into the forest

Was genau lass ich hier mal offen. ?

From Bah to Whoaa!
Warm embrace from the past. That's probably the best way I would describe it. Growing up in a village with horse dome and wildflower meadows, I can already follow the advertising and the name a little...
But first things first. The fragrance came out in 2019 and I immediately wanted to try it. The bottle is beautifully vintage and the name sounded promising. I to the perfumery. Sprayed it on my wrist and "Bah!". Here I can agree with my predecessors that the initial impression smells rather medicinal. As is so often the case, you just don't give things time to develop if the first impression is already bad. Chamomile is also very special and unusual in the mainstream segment of fragrances. Also, you know chamomile rather from childhood, when you are sick and had to choke the tea behind...
2 years later in times of pandemic, I moved back to my roots from the big city, go for a walk and again take in the herbaceous smells I loved as a child. Memories came flooding back and as luck would have it I saw Gucci Memoire d'une Odeur in the miller and tested it once again. Love, sentimentality and memories. I think that the current mental state and circumstance plays a role in how one initially perceives a fragrance. Today I am discovering the depth of the fragrance. Somehow it makes sense today.
The composition starts with spicy - floral chamomile. Warm, vibrant. Minutes later, woody notes weave in. Sandalwood, then later a cedary note. Chamomile is a throbbing heart from head to base. Enveloped by fine woods, until at the end the warm vanilla transforms the chamomile into a scent with an affinity for the skin.
It smells to me like the bottle looks - vintage. It is unisex without question, however I tend to see people in their mid 20s upwards wearing this fragrance. To me it seems grown up, unpretentious, thoughtful and personal. Personal in the sense of : I'm all about me and don't want to be the center of attention at all. One perceives me, respects me, but everyone notices that my presence is enough without many words.
The sillage is medium (spring 12-20°C). At work, I was sniffed. The opinion is divided, but unpleasant it found no one.
This fragrance you wear for yourself and not for others. I feel him as subtle and somehow also comforting in the time of the pandemic, where we often live isolated anyway...
I'm a big fan of the sprayer, and this one gives a great and even mist!
Bottom line : give this fragrance a chance. Try it again and again, preferably at different times of the year.
I got a good deal on Notino, check it out there.

Sophisticated, grown-up
Hello everyone,
After a long absence I'm back. In our current time of Lockdown and apocalyptic scenario all over, I decided to treat myself to a new scent. Doing my research online I found this Cartier fragrance for just 27€. So it's a total blind buy and the ingredients sounded very appealing to me. I love honey and wondered how this could be translated into a male fragrance without being too sticky and sweet.
I already own Guerlain Flora de Nymphea, which is very honey heavy, but this one is successfully not to sweet! The first spray was like :"OH nooo, this smells like" old man". That's probably the musk making a quick appearance, but it subsided VERY quickly (lucky me). So the scent develops from spicey to a clean soap like fragrance in the first 30 minutes. The honey is interwoven at all times, engulfed in vetiver and musk. It's not heavy at all, but noticeabe presence.
I REALLY like how Mathilde wrapped this honey in vetiver and musc to avoid this fragrance from being too sweet and cheap.
The fond becomes very skinlike. Probably again the musc that makes this scent stick to your skin for a long time, too.
This fragrance is marketed towards men, but in 2021 this could easily be worn by a strong woman.
What I do have to point out is : This is not a scent for boys. But rather for modern men in their 30s. L'envol does not seduce with overwhelmingly creamy and oriental notes with a 5km radius sillage. This scent is subtle. Long lasting. Classy. Business with a wink and smirk.
For the price I paid, I think I did a great catch. (Notino.de).
For what occasions? Definitvely work, theater, opera, probably a nice dinner. Something sophisticated.
I imagine a man wearing a white shirt, unbuttoned 3 buttons on the top. Clean haircut with slightly Grey sideburns. Good fitting pants and nice shoes (exact the opposite of me, but I'll still flaunt it).

Shock in love! Liquid rondnoir??
Hello dear fragrance community!

First of all, I'm not a direct fan of Hugo Boss. The scents I own were either gifts or samples. In perfumeries I usually walk past Hugo Boss - at least the last 10 years.

How did I discover this scent? By chance. With Douglas was a nice Duftlady, which held me a stripe under the nose ... uuuuu and schockverliebt. It is as if I opened a pack of Rondnoir from Ferrero Rocher and the full aroma of chocolate was coming towards me. I'm obsessed with chocolate and it hit my nerve! The lady told me Osmanthus was still in there and roasted tonka bean . LOVE! As a trained FLorist I knew the scent of Osmanthus and found it again after a thorough smell. Like a baseline, this runs from the beginning to the end of the composition. The Tonka bean is known among other things in LeMale by JPG and liked it there already...
"By the way, this is a women's fragrance and the PERFECT gift for your girlfriend, mother..." I had to interrupt her and say, "Nenene, young lady, I'll carry that myself!" She was a little bit aghast, but kept her composure. ;)
I let myself be sprayed to observe the development and how it behaves on my skin.

One might suspect that this gourmand scent is overwhelmingly heavy. I don't feel that way. Rather like a flattering scent that is very affine to the skin. After one hour, it appears delicately creamy on the skin, not intrusive, but clearly perceptible. I can only call it a veil. Tempting and yet tempting to cuddle...Suitable for the season. :)
Cacao Absolue is present from the beginning. The hanger and companion up to 8 hours (3 days tested). Heart and top notes are very closely interwoven. Perfect pairing. What about the top note? Well, it's like somebody looks in the door and calls a shy "hello." I like the scent of mandarin, but really present? No. I do not discover freshness in the sense of citric freshness in this fragrance either.

Resonances? YES! "What's that? That smells so good!" "You smell cozy!"
