Another shade of Bleu.
"Bleu de Chanel Parfum" is not only a fragrance for the fans of the original "edt" who want to jump on the "parfum" wagon of our times, but also a fragrance for those who (after a decade or so) need a change without abandoning the "Bleu" spirit of their favourite "Bleu de Chanel" line.
I am not sure whether its higher price tag has anything to do with more expensive materials in its formula or it is there, simply because it is a status/marketing requirement - in any case this is a more introvert version (I wouldn't say "darker") of the very popular edt, which lasts long and stays closer to the skin as (so very often) "parfums" do.

That's the introduction but,..."do I like it"?
"Well, I'd say that each time I smell "Bleu de Chanel Parfum" I see a perfume, while each time I smell the original "Bleu de Chanel EDT I see a Man."
How's that for an answer?

An unexciting perfume with a brilliant name.
"Le Lion de Chanel" fails to impress.
It is Chanel's proposal to a very specific market of heavy orientals with a pronounced labdanum, oud, leather, smoky "whatever-ness" which lacks distinction and uniqueness.
So many niche brands have one (or more) perfumes of the same kind and do rather well, so I can understand the motivation behind this release but for me personally, this one is a failure not because it is worse than the rest (not at all),  but because it presents itself last, without adding anything new to the picture.
I can see an abstract correlation to the amazing "Coromandel" (which I prefer without any hesitation) but it is the legendary "Shalimar" that mainly inspires the composition here (yes, we still use lemon to balance the heavy oriental base of the formula) but if you ask me,  "Shalimar" is a better perfume in all possible ways!
Having said that, "Le Lion de Chanel" is well-blended and surpasses almost all other niche proposals of this type that I know of, so go ahead and test it for yourself - but as a blind buy, I simply can't recommended it at any price.
Désolé..

A perfume for the son of "La Panthere" woman.
To me, "Declaration d'Un Soir" is very much "Cartier doing Guerlain".
It is a rose fragrance with a small dose of masculine freshness and it feels very French and classical.
I can't remember of anything similar on the market and while it is pleasant and distinct, it is also unusual for mainstream tastes, so I wouldn't suggest to buy it blindly.
It is beautiful however, and if you are familiar with "La Panthere" (the legendary Cartier perfume for the professional, elegant woman) let me tell you that "Declaration d'Un Soir" is the perfume, the son of that woman, wears.

The boxer's Fahrenheit!
"Fahrenheit Absolute" is the olfactory representation of a punch in the face.
One can actually smell the heat and the redness and I'd say that this perfume (in reality) is, "the boxer's Fahrenheit"! :)

A graceful innocent perfume with a naughty side.
A huge success for Chanel and for its (now retired) great perfumer Jacques Polge!
A beautiful, well-mannered and very sophisticated perfume (especially eau de parfum) aimed at young ladies or ladies with a youthful mood and a refined taste (for even younger ones there is always its wonderful little brother named "Chance").

Coco Mademoiselle is a fragrance that is hard to get bored of!
It has this classic quality that makes it always relevant and this happens because its odour has all the quality characteristics of the most beloved and charming flower, the rose.
It is both complex and simple, it has an elegant and pleasant olfactory imprint that flirts with seduction and its mood is innocent but with a naughty facet!
I like it in all of its versions (edt, edp, intense), but I could live without its more mature version called "Coco Noir", as I find it a bit unnecessary (I hope that the fans of this particular perfume forgive me).
I will not go into a deep analysis of the composition - I will only say that (much like in the odour of the rose) the perfumer here places special emphasis on highlighting the "negative space" of it, letting the central theme and the parts that compose it to breathe freely, to communicate with each other and to dance gracefully in a spacious and comfortable olfactory frame.
The result; A scent where many women meet themselves and a creation that even if it is not exactly to your taste, you will admit it is beautiful.
One of the best moments of modern perfumery. Nothing more, nothing less!
