Smokey Whispers
The Nuit de Noel I am today wearing is the most recent Eau de Toilette (in the bottle with a current bun top and purple box with gold dots - from somewhere around 2008 - 2010 give or take a couple of years). I am frugal with this perfume as the Eau de Toilette is no longer made; only the Parfum concentration is available. From my fragrances Aromatics Elixir is most like it in character with Aromatics Elixir (from the 1990s) being far more dense, strong, longer lasting, and a touch herbal.

Nuit of Noel is the smokey whisper hanging in the room from an open fire, Christmas oranges and brazil nuts heaped in cut glass bowls for the children to dip into as they wait for tea; the dry sweetness of sachets hung between the curtains filling the room with rose, jasmine, oris; the scent of a single languid tuberose as it mingles with sweet wood; the quiet hours before dawn, happiness and contentment.

Yes, I am frugal with this one; I simply don't want to be without it.

Still lots of scent on my skin some 12 hours after application.

Beautiful bottle; extraordinary strength.
Heavy metal cage with plastic/resin orange gemstones. Lid has a large orange gemstone on top and inside has a good glass dipper that actually works to drop a good sized drip of perfume without having to touch the skin.

Very strong scent that smells rather masculine to me. I find the milky accord mixed with a healthy dose of ambergris quite strange. It is spicey and fruity (like dirty peach), resinous rather than woody, and not identifiably floral.

Although I don't enjoy wearing this the car did smell rather nice the next day when I turned on the air conditioning and I was greated with a lovely fruity sandalwood; perhaps I smelt nice from a distance.

This is the strongest of my Rasasi perfumes with even one drip being far too much for me.

Exquisite
It is no exageration to say that I chuckled when first I opened the little packet containing my 3ml rollerball sample of this oil and the sweet woody smell gently wafted to my nose. . I knew immediately that I would buy a full bottle and barely a week later I did so.

I don't quite know why I love it so much but suffice to say I feel a definite lift when I inhale deeply of this fragrance, much like a layer of cotton wool has been removed from around my mind.

The top notes to me are richly sweet wood with a medicinal vibe and gushings of a dusty, earthy patchouli.. The rose I smell is not a garden rose but a rich, thick rose absolute and the spice is laid back, creamy, smooth with nothing in particular jumping out as a note. As it wears there is an animalic musk, intensely sweet and savoury, and a sandalwood josstick that is only slightly burt.

The bottle is heavy at around 12 ouces when full. The gold and silver parts are metal, the lid has a small glass dipper inside that dispenses a tiny drip. I hardly use the dipper as I prefer to decant into a 3ml rollerball so that I don't contaminate the main bottle. The box is dark blue, comes in two parts (an outer tube slides over an inner tube which has two front opening doors to reveal a lining of holographic gold and the perfume bottle nestling in a red fabric covered base (very pretty indeed).

It has moderate sillage, is long lasting, and although it developes it is fairly linear. This is my most complimented perfume and I absolutely love it. Of the perfumes I own Mon Parfum Cherie par Camille comes closest in character.
