Red glowing provocation
The cooler days are just around the corner. It's time to get the warm, heavy scents out of the back rows of the shelf again. Manceras Red Tobacco is already a perfume that splits the perfumes on the net a bit. Most of the comments fall into the category "enthusiastic", but a significant minority of comments transport the sheer horror.
For me as a half layman, the fragrance actually belongs to the sweet, oriental Oud-Moschus fragrances, which can be found under variations of the term Kalemat in the net here and there as a perfume spray, but more often as a perfume oil. This fragrance here is complex, lush, on warm skin initially very sweet, but has a more saffron-spicy character from a distance. The oud provides the basis here, but does not dominate. I can only smell it easily. These fragrances are not something I would wear every day, but every now and then I put them on, and then I am already fascinated by this intense Orientalism. The Mancera can turn a boring working day upside down, or spice up a draining event. Well dosed it is wearable, if you don't let yourself be intimidated and don't - quote - look the scent directly in the eyes.
At Manceras Red Tobacco, the unusual thing is actually the distinct tobacco note, which is after the initial, honey, for some cherry ;-) Explosion over and under the scent. This note reminds me of a fresh pack of cigarettes without a filter. I have always found tobacco - not lit - to be very fascinating. Imagine this tobacco scent together with a gradually spicier honey cake and a hint of oud and musk, which returns in swells over many hours - that's Mancera's Red Tobacco!
A little tip - if you want to try this out before making a blind purchase, you can put together a five-pack chic travelspray (8 ml) or five sample tubes (2 ml) from Mancera's own website for acceptable money

What do you think is beyond almost pure?
Elie Saab Oud Essence is a rather puristic oud presentation. The notes of black pepper and benzoin given above in the fragrance pyramid are not the same as the notes of saffron and cinnamon given on the Elie Saab website. That doesn't matter, though, because what's still in there besides Oud is only for support. This oud begins a little bit burnt or smoky, accompanied by a light note, as if someone had hot the car tires on the Saab. After about two hours, however, this resinous, rich oud scent, which fascinates lovers so much, prevails. The next eight hours or so, this perfume just keeps getting better and better. Then comes the gradual departure to hour twelve or beyond.

It's hard to believe how a single fragrance can be so captivating. If you get off after the second or third tour with this Saab, you might easily feel the urge to look for even purer oud variations. I haven't had the pleasure (and don't have the financial means) to buy a pure oud oil from over 100 or more years old eagle wood, but I'd love to smell it!

Challenge accepted!
Mancera's Wind Wood was really not a simple perfume for me. I was looking for a successor to my long-time Paradeduft - Ralph Lauren's Polo Explorer. He hasn't been around in a while. As my bottle drew to a close, I began to search the net for replacements. On Fragrantica I found few similarities, but there were a few (2) voices that equated the Explorer with Wind Wood - otherwise nothing.

I was faced with the choice of spending 150 bucks on a Restposten Explorer or trying the Wind Wood. It turned out that he was available at a reduced price on the net - 120 ml for almost 75 euros. All right, if you don't dare, you don't win - bought! - on the floor! - and... well, who of you knows the English term "cloying"? It was warm, I was careful - two sprayers on the chest under the shirt. Manometer! - the air stayed away! Aggressive-grassy (green notes and vetiver) with stuffy (cloying) violet. In shock I ordered the Resterampen-Explorer for 150 Teuros.

But took a while until the Explorer was there (came from Spain). Until then, I thought, I'd give the 75 Euro Würgreiz another chance! It was hot again. A single timid sprayer on the chest - shirt buttoned up. Choke! But then, after 2-3 hours paralyzed on the armchair from the depths of my section blows an unexpectedly fascinating cool breath through the steppe forest (my three-day beard). Wind Wood indeed! Not so bad at all. Suddenly it was hours later! All right - what you've learned. The perfumer (Pierre Montale) knows what he's doing! For the archive: the only similarity is the mandarin, which disappears in both cases after five (or so) seconds. The leather would still be there - but that can neither be smelled by one nor by the other.

Expectations are the great self-deception manoeuvre in the world of fragrances. By the way, you can also buy - think of a bottling from the souk or relevant dealers! But if you can work for something, and don't run back to the airport at the first unexpected haze in uncharted territory, then you'll find something new - Explorer! Since then it is with me with the wind Wood of Mancera like a march by the savannah to the spring. I haven't quite arrived yet, but I have opened a door to the previously hated floral world of fragrance. Don't be prejudiced! Take a chance on something! If it is not possible then there is still the souk on this page.

Oudsider
Jacomos Oud for Men combines a rather unusual combination of oud and juniper berries with a citric-spicy top note. This is something completely different than the usual Oud-Rose, Oud-Saffran, or sweet oud scents. In fact, Jacomo Oud has no sweetness at all, but begins with a rather bitter, almost bitter lemon. Discreet oud and juniper are always present, and the lemon fades into the background after an hour. The spices stay a little longer without me being able to smell them out one by one. From all the note inflation at the base (besides oud seven according to the website) I can't see anything, except maybe a hint of musk towards the end.

Unusual, exciting, not so easily accessible the first time, a real outsider. The only catch is the performance. After about 5-6 hours the brother Jakob falls asleep. It just bothers me a little. One can add to the evening, or sing a completely different song without lingering olfactory dissonances, both are possible. After having worn it several times through the winter, I am sure: the scent is great. If you want to try out an office-suitable exotic, which almost nobody else has, you can access it here.
