Smoky and delicate vanilla dream
The fragrance was a blind purchase for me, probably "hooked" by the numerous gushing comments here and the thread in the ladies forum.... At this point again a thank you to Rosenherz for the hint that the fragrance was still to order at "Incenza" and this even at a very reasonable price;-)
My experience with the Shalimars goes back to the 80's, the fragrance gave me my boyfriend at the time and I found it horrible! Much too oriental-mundane and for my feeling at that time also unfashionable for a 22-year-old..... The bottle was a beautiful gold Art Deco special edition and unfortunately lived a more or less unnoticed existence as a decorative object..... Occasionally I would apply a spritz with a sniff and wonder why this fragrance was considered a hallowed cult scent. Otherwise, my love at the time was for fragrances like "Giorgio" or even "Joop Femme"; that's what I wanted to smell like as a young woman. Over the years I have tested myself now and then through the various Shalimar new releases and flankers, but still found the fragrance too little pleasing and somehow bulky. I have lived at the time for many years in Paris and Shalimar met me often at young and very style-conscious French women - he had to have something about him, but what did not open up to me...

But now for "Millésime Vanilla Planifolia". I love the vanilla-heavy fragrances of the "L'Art et la Matière" series and according to a few reviews, the fragrance should go in the direction of "Cuir Beluga"....
What a shock therefore when I opened my package today and expectantly inhaled the first spray on my wrist: I perceived mainly smoke and vanilla and the Ur-Shalimar jumped at me directly and mercilessly! Ok, I decided to give the fragrance its time and first worked away at my home office for a couple of hours. I left my desk for a moment and when I came back into the room, there was a beautiful hint of an unsweet, noble vanilla in the air, the scent came across very "sophisticated".... I couldn't detect smoke anymore, however when I sniff my wrist the scent is still smoky and kind of stubborn. I think that ""Millésime Vanilla Planifolia" is a fragrance that is perceived by others or the environment as more beautiful, more interesting and more pleasing than the wearer himself.
I think we will still be able to make friends, I will "Planifolia" tonight in any case times to the Friday meeting with friends at the Italian carry out, there are also a few fragrance freaks there ..
