A Scent for Mr. Big
Himalaya promises clarity, purity- almost transparency. And the scent keeps it promise. It's a scent for Mr. Big in "Sex and the City". Attractive, successful, charming, intelligent and so forth. This scent fits a man wearing a suit, who is successful in his business and who doesn't want to catch attraction due to a strong, individual perfume. Himalaya is understatement at its best. It's of very high quality. Very fresh and clear. This transparency and clarity has a positive effect on your business environment. It doesn't distract but it's present in the background. I first got to know this scent when I met a top manager who always had to look neat and well-rested while he had to perform on a top-level day by day. He could have gone for any scent in this world, because he has pots of money but he decided to go for Himalaya.

As a woman I find this scent smashing!

Btw, Mr.Big actually uses Eau Sauvage in Sex and the city as the movie has told us :-)

Tonka Cream
I cannot let go off this scent!
After the first test the memory of this perfume and the desire to spray it once again is so strong. By now I'm done with my third test and I really wished to own a big bottle in order to spray it without any control.
But there are two flaws:
1. It is a little too discreet meaning it stays too close on one's skin so that sillage is an issue and you could get the impression that it is not as intensive as wanted.
2. I smell something odd like plastic.

Right from the beginning I smell a fat, chubby tonka bean, that bathes joyfully in a pool of whipped cream. You could easily expect a gourmand but that s not it because discreet citric notes do play a role. Actually you cann't detect these citric notes but they are present and as a effect they make the tonka-cream slide in a beauty-cream. The amount of the citric notes are comparable to those of Nivea-Creme.

This tonka-cream that is so discreetly floral and citric does not have much sillage power. It belongs to the category of feel-well and cozy scents. And I think that friends of gourmands as well as friends of clean scents will like it, since the intersection of these two categories can only be a feel-well scent.

Well, I love this perfume and I wish to spray it generously all over me to experience how discreet or how strong it really is i.e. to find out about its sillage and projection.
Warning: Do not test this fragrance or you will fall in love with it. Only available in 100 ml (3.3 oz) bottles unfortunately!!! that cost around 170€.

The Queen of all Soaps
Some people say abot me that I am a noble and creamy fragrance. Maybe I am, but that depends on the skin on which I am enthroned. But what I am without any doubts is... soapy! My soapiness knows no limit. I like my soapiness so much that I just cannot let go of it. After 1-2 hours I reveal a bit more. My soapiness heats up a little due to body temperature. By these means I release a nice and bright floral bouquet. All remains discreet because I am stingy at working my charms on others. I do not want to get abused by my bearer in order to chase men. I am a ladies' scent for ladies only. After a while I become more confiding and warmer witout ever abandoning my soapiness.

To me Dia is the Arabian sister of Pure Poison. Both scents belong to the same category of white and bright florals. Both become warmer while they develop on the skin. But while Pure Poison has a seductive aspect, Dia is only soapy.
Conclusion: Noble deodorant made in Dubai :-)

The Japanese Woman
Mitsouko means mystery or secret in English.

I wonder weather this could be the scent that a Geishas could diffuse in a Japanese teehouse while I am contemplating on how Mitsouko smells. Is it the mix of Japanese body care and of inexhaustible abundance of spicery and vegetation?
It is an intensive as well a discreet scent- I know it's a paradox.
I wish, I could offer a picture to you that would prove worthy to meet such a classic, but I am not capable of doing so because Mitsouko simply reminds me of aniseed cookies (popular, delicious cookies at Christmas time in Germany :-)

I can literally see how Jacques Guerlain would throw his hands up in horror if he could and he would give me reproachful looks. What am I thinking to downgrade this classic with such an awkward comparison?!

Allright, I am not much into far-east stuff, Orientals or spicy fragrances. I rather like to stick to flowers, musk etc. I was brought up with Nivea-Creme and Penaten-Creme (German babycare-cream). My nose was never confronted with big olfactive challenges. This certain outland which actually ought to be familiar makes my approach to Mitsouko difficult.

Moreover Mitsouko is not a mere female scent. It lacks sweetness. It could also be a unisex scent nowadays. Over time it becomes tarter on skin.I just cannot imagine a young woman with Mitsouko. Women who have an affinity with lightly spiced fragrances will maybe enjoy Mitsouko. I like this fragrance too or else I wouldn't own it but it evokes too many associations and experiences that go far beyond a perfume.

I need perfumes which are more simple, more feminine, more floral. I need perfumes, which do not make me ponder like Mitsouko does.

Mitsouko is a piece of history and I think that this fragrance has something melodramatic. I once read in a review (by Zjarr) that Mitsouko was compared with the last tear rolling down one’s cheek. That is a wonderful picture. Another User (Profumo) says if he ever had to decide upon one scent only he would choose Mitsouko. I am very able to relate to that and I think that Mitsouko makes a man happy. She doesn’t object, she is tidy, beautiful, humble and very knowledgeable.

I think this scent makes a woman smell feudal. It bestows upon her sobriety. To me it lacks the lightness and carefreeness of modern scents. Unfortunately I am a kid of the eighties. I am used to colors, loudness, artificial flavors and tastelessness- all things which aren’t Mitsouko.

I apologize sincerely to Monsieur Guerlain and alls his fans for this unworthy comment.

Edit: Now, I know why Mitsouko possesses such a melancholia. The eponym of this scent is a character in a novel midst of the Japanese-Russian-War around the turn of the century. Although she is married, she bears a secret love to a British officer. She desperately awaits the end of war and surpresses meanwhile her deep feelings. Oh my, I have smelled this melodrama, and now I know, that I haven’t imagined it.

Classy Powder
A well-groomed, clean, minimal flowery scent, in which all notes are clearly detectable but powder has taken the reins. Very subtle and discreet. You won't ever attract attention with it. It does smell like an expensive beauty creme and it is not obvious that this scent is a perfume. Maybe it is a scent of understatement, a little sophisticated. There is no childish sweetness, no sex-appeal, no phantasy. It matches women who prefer clean scents. In this category of "clean" Madison Soirée is so far the best scent that I have come across . Because it smells so classy an noble. If a woman passed by wearing Madison Soirée you would instantly think that she spent a lot of money on beauty items and must use very expenive creams that are so good that you even cann smell their evaporating traces from her skin. I love gardenia and Bond was successful to integrate these strong blossoms into a nice creamy and powdery scent- it is a no-headache-guaranteed gardenia. In this category of clean and classy scents I also recommend Osmanthus by The Different Company, Geste by Humiecki&Graef or Gardenia Royal by Il Profumo. But Madison Soirèe is almost the best.
