Oddly Woody Book
This was more of a subtle woody scent to me than anything else. Generally uninteresting to my nose. I was expecting something more along the lines of CB I Hate Perfume's 'In the Library". I couple of layers of old worn leather, something light and air to represent refined paper, perhaps throw me an ink note..."Book" was more like "yeah...so, check this out, you know how books are made of paper which comes from wood...here's some wood...o.k., bye."

Fresh Clean Mint Tea
This definitely has a mint tea note on top with a splash of chilled lemonade. Followed by a fresh white musky note and gentle playful freesia floating on a summer breeze.Soft, soothing- cottony- I sense the Lily-of-the-valley in the under pinning like an echo. Longevity on me is shockingly going on 6 hours- I'm smelling like a superstar! Sillage is translucent and airy which makes it perfect for hot humid days of August in the Northern Hemisphere. I don't find this to be particularly aquatic or woody- which is a good thing to me right now. This is definitely a skin scent not a statement scent- it feels natural and clean with out being soapy, foody or smelling chemically derived like that brand "CLEAN". I'm going back tomorrow for the full bottle in spite of my self imposed 6 month moratorium on fragrance purchases- I don't want to miss out on what I intuitively feel is going to be a flash in the pan.

Universe, Your Mystical Secrets are Revealed...
Whoever owns this and has not reviewed it...shame on you. this is as magnificent as Larks tongue in aspic... As Francois Mitterand's last meal...as all things exquisite and profane! First I get a tango of Jasmine and Tomato leaf with warm night air mimosa...this is all I can sense for about 10 minutes...I am off in a reverie...a fantasy of dream lovers and magical ferries with baskets of kittens and puppies... Bird's of paradise, though, I must admit I do not know what they smell like...SHOULD smell like this! It's the warm bits of gardenia that seduce after about 10 minutes and cooped with white lily and soft base of mostly storax- the vanilla here is natural and resinous...to create a unique symphony in my nose. This is what I would call this fragrance "A Mid Summer Night's Dream". Luscious, wanton and beckoning into all sorts of mischief!

Bloody Mary on the Rocks!
Vodka, limes, piquant red chillies, saffron, slightly sweet celery and a cool breeze over the Mediterranean. This has a icy liquid aroma, I am not imagining it, I swear! As is the case for me- red chilli scents turn very green pepper on my skin within minutes and become overwhelmingly herbaceous... Red Harissa is no different. Dry down brings out a funky dirty musk- which I interpret as more masculine than feminine. Sillage is light and intimate- which if you're going to sport this one, I highly recommend a very light application. I am going to guess that on the right guy, this could turn into a long lasting spicy-herbal musk- perfect in the heat. On me this is as unsettling as a Six Flags roller-coaster ride after a sushi & sake binge! I think it is pointless to say "this is not what I was expecting" because, really-what was I expecting? This is ground breaking olfactory entertainment, one shouldn't really have any expectations looking at the notes. Does this smell just like spicy Harissa sauce? Doubtful. Is it unique? Well, definitely! I am comparing 3 tomato/tomato leaf-centric fragrances today...this is the first and we are off to a grand start. This is quite an amusing sauce, indeed. A must try for the true Aficionado.

Buongiorno, Bella Novella!
This is simply put, just as advertised. I am a fan! I love it when things are true to their nature and uncomplicated. This is Tuberose that can be worn to work without a big migraine or a fuss. This is a gentle water breeze with nothing to hide. There is no sweetness to this beyond the natural essence of the blossom itself. There is no struggle of juxtaposed accords or brash statement of art- the flower it self is the delicate dewy water soaked flower alone in the garden and it is truly beautiful. Tuberosa is a fully unisex Tuberose, you can't go wrong. OMG, am I gushing?! It's most likely due to the fact that I really want to delve into Tuberose lately- but honestly I look at my bottle of "Carnal Flower" like it is a hostile and alien extraterrestrial some days. I am not enlightened enough or anymore for my beloved "Fracas". L'Artisan's "Nuit De Tubereuse" sported such a hefty dose of Sandalwood on the dry down that I had to admit defeat. And so it goes...I find myself at the House of Santa Maria Novella- reknown perfumers of the likes of Catherine Di Medici. Founded in 1221...they know their stuff! This is probably one of the few houses that I can say, I've sampled most of and they are pretty safe for even blind buying- if you want your Vanilla/Vaniglia- light and creamy without sugar- you shall have it...If you crave sunny lemony-fresh bright yellow scotch broom/Ginestra- just as it sits on the hillsides of the Mediterranean regions ...Yatzee! And every single scent I buy from them is eminently wearable- uberlight sillage, perfect for chemical sensitive coworkers but persistent enough for personal joy and expertly crafted, Tuberosa will be no exception. I have also had great success with layering from this line because each scent is like a layer of fine silk.
