Good mood in a bottle
The other day I had the pleasure to be in Paris again. Of course, I used the time in the French capital, among other things, to test new fragrances. Quite spontaneously I stopped by at Louis Vuitton on the Champs-Élysées, since the waiting time for admission was not too long. In the end, I got stuck with the perfumes and on request, the nice saleswoman sprayed me the fragrance Afternoon Swim (AS).

The top note is insane and for me is one of the best top notes I have ever smelled. At the beginning, I perceived a tangy and slightly sweet tangerine, which seemed very refreshing, since on this day there was an outside temperature of about 30 ° C. . As it progresses, the mandarin fades into the background and the scent becomes more restrained. In the drydown I perceived almost only amber and ginger.

The saleswoman noticed that I was excited about AS and gave me a sample. Immediately the next day I made use of it and sprayed me. Unfortunately, I had to disappointingly realize that the durability and sillage on my skin was not exactly the best. Accordingly, I have decided against a purchase for the time being.

I gave AS another chance, as the top note was just too good. I sprayed the scent on myself again in the late afternoon, but this time mostly on my clothes. Afterwards, I went for a walk together along the Seine under clear skies and pleasantly warm temperatures as the sun slowly started to set. I was pleasantly surprised when I could still detect the scent after many hours. The clothes really made the difference and made it last much longer. Finally, I decided to buy it and now AS accompanies me through the warmer summer days and provides a good mood.

Conclusion: in my opinion, AS is a very successful unisex summer fragrance from Louis Vuitton with a beautiful top note. I can only hard to imagine that someone does not like this fragrance. Durability and sillage are of course expandable, but with a few sprays on the clothes you can help a little. Whether the high price is justified, everyone must decide for themselves. After all, the fragrances of Louis Vuitton can be refilled for a little less money

The masterpiece from the house of Marly
Anyone who can make friends with the Parfums de Marly brand should definitely try Carlisle. I personally like most of the Marlys that have a sweet note (Layton, Herod, Pegasus, Oajan...) very much. Carlisle was at the top of my watch list at that time and so I visited a perfumery that also carries Marlys. When I smelled Carlisle for the first time I was already a bit overwhelmed by the strong opening. In the beginning the fragrance is dominated by a spicy green apple and tonka bean and after a few hours a creamy vanilla is added.
Some claim that Carlisle is a combination of different Marlys. I can partly agree with this, because I recognize slight characteristics of Layton, Herod and Oajan. Even if Carlisle reminds me of other Marlys, it is still a fragrance in its own right, which simply smells special. Here one notices immediately that it is a niche fragrance.
2 sprayers are enough and you have a cloud of fragrance around you all day long. The durability & sillage are just enormous and therefore you should not wear Carlisle in closed rooms (unless you are alone in the room). For me the scent lasts almost a whole day on the skin and in the first 6-8 hours the projection is also quite strong. I can understand the slightly more expensive price compared to the other Marlys.

The Invisible Knight
Creed Aventus. So this is the famous niche scent everyone's talking about. When I first heard about this fragrance, I naturally looked at the price. My first thought about it: Whew. This scent must be extraordinarily good if it has such a high price and everyone is talking about it. Well, this thought turned out to be wrong in the course of time... well, at least partly.

I started a little research on Aventus on the Internet and after a short time I came across the different dupes or clones. I ordered the Dupe from Armaf blind and sprayed it on my forearm. The extremely synthetic citrus prelude killed me a bit, but for that the dry down was all the more beautiful. However, I already knew that I would not keep this scent for long and in fact I sold it a few months later. After the first mispurchase I went to a perfumery and came out with a sample of Aventus. Back home, I sprayed the fragrance full of curiosity on my forearm and smelled it. The prelude was much more pleasant than CDNIM, because Aventus starts with a nice fruity fresh pineapple note and flattens with a slightly smoky note. The fragrances are all nicely rounded and balanced, no note stands out unpleasantly here. I smelled again and again on my forearm and after 3 hours the shock came: I didn't smell the scent anymore. I continued sniffing my forearm and then I noticed a little hint of Aventus. The durability of the fragrance disappointed me massively, hence the title "The Invisible Knight". So I started looking for more Dupes that smell better and last longer. I tried through some scents, but nobody could really get hold of Aventus. One was too synthetic, the other too citric and the other had nothing to do with Aventus. So in the end I stayed with Aventus.

One may think of the smell as one likes. There are many controversial opinions about it and this is probably due to the hype. Many people buy it because it brings many compliments or because it is well received by women. Some of this may be true, but you should only buy a fragrance if you like it yourself. I usually compliment sweet oriental fragrances anyway, so I wouldn't necessarily wear it for compliments. Unfortunately I can't say anything about the batch variations, because I only had 3 different Aventus samples and they all smelled very similar.

I find it much nicer when a fragrance is described by means of a scenario rather than by its scents. But I find that difficult with this fragrance because it is so versatile. The fragrance can be worn to work, to go out, for leisure or even for sports. Due to my experience with the poor durability and sillage, I would not wear it in winter.

In my opinion, Aventus is a very pleasant and versatile fragrance, which now seems a bit "boring", because the fragrance DNA has not been unique for a long time. But for me there is (at the moment!) no clone that can beat Aventus. Creed should definitely work on the durability and the price could be a bit lower. It's a scent you can always wear without thinking much. You can't really dislike Aventus, so I recommend everyone to try this scent.
