unobtrusively round evergreen for the office
Wear the fragrance for two years now more and more often and can not get sick of it so far. Very well matched, wonderfully uncomplicated and absolutely suitable for the office. Not an extravagant fragrance that is particularly polarizing, but still has enough sophistication to not completely sink into the mainstream - definitely the golden one among the blue

The fading love...
The first niche fragrance I had ever smelled and what have you flashed me at the beginning. The freshness, the fruit, the smoke and the experience. Absolute hit, so I wore you proudly before me like a very famous Youtuber his own creations - with the same unbearable naivety and obtuseness. Now the newer batches got worse, the longevity dropped, the smoky notes disappeared altogether for me - I like Club de Nuit better here by now. So now I stand in front of you many smelled scents later and think: You are nothing special at all anymore

Hmm. Possibly pure masculinity. Does that mean I'm not me?
Actually I wanted to write the comment the day before yesterday, but then I thought: No! Don't give yourself exclusively to first impressions, you only falsify the overall picture. Now I'm wearing the fragrance for the third day in a row and I just don't know what to think about it. The scent is definitely good and is different from the standard Armani Code DNA, which I just don't like to smell. It comes across very fresh and aquatic without filling the room unpleasantly and is therefore also suitable for the office. But it's also very masculine and that somehow disturbs me as the process progresses. That's probably why the age recommendation of 30+ is often given. Whether this is based on age or on a supposedly rough masculinity, which you can also represent earlier, remains to be seen. Of course, a fragrance is in a way like a piece of clothing and it is fun to reinvent yourself and to portray something different every now and then. But a fragrance has to fit to a person within a certain range and I am not (yet) there or don't know if I ever want to go there.
Sloppy conclusion: I don't buy it because I wouldn't buy it from myself.

The worthy successor - Finally!
The footprints of the old Le Male (1995) are big. Very big. At the age of 15 it was the first fragrance I have ever tried and worn. I remember like yesterday the shopping tour with my older sister, which I didn't feel like doing at all, but for some reason ended in a perfumery. Without much interest, I strolled through the shelves and got stuck on this bottle, which I picked up - with the three most significant words of my teenage years (oh well) - and sprayed the fragrance on my arm. Bull's eye! There was this masculine, the experience, the willingness to take risks, the play instinct. In short: Everything an insecure teenager strives for!
The scent and at least some compliments accompanied me until I was 20 years old and even today it still gets me occasionally.

But where is the problem? 1) The durability and 2) the missing evolution of the fragrance! How can JPG not manage to launch a more durable EDP version of this fragrance for 25 years and let it age gracefully without losing its DNA and character? Admittedly, especially in the last few years there has been no lack of attempts by JPG to achieve exactly this: Ultra Male, Le Male Essence, Le Beau Male and whatever they're called. I have tried them all and in my opinion they can all be summed up with an irritated look and the very clumsy words of a valued colleague: "What the heck!?"

So it is not surprising that my enthusiasm was limited when the consultant of the local favourite perfumery pointed out the "new" Le mark when buying another fragrance. "It's different, give me your arm" - again this indifferent "Oh well" and again this absolute bull's eye! This personal odor odyssey lasted 12 years, just to finally see land. The DNA of the old Le Male is for me a tactful one. But she's not alone, it's as if the DNA and peculiarities of the messed up sons of the last few years had been combined to unite them in the father's favourite son in his own right. The one who makes evolution happen without screaming revolution. The one who doesn't try to get the woman anymore, who doesn't have to prove himself in nightlife but convinces intrinsically. He who says: I have understood, father, I have made my mistakes and learned the lessons, now let me carry on the family heritage with honour.

Of course, this assessment is as open to dispute as taste in general is, so if I could make a key statement, it would be this one: If you were as disappointed or disgusted as I was by the last JPG Le Male attempts, then at least give it a chance, maybe one or the other will rediscover their love :)
