New Money or the scent of the nouveau riche
Pour Monsieur and Dior's Eau Sauvage are relatively similar, both are classics and were launched in new versions in the 2010s.

Both have that citrusy, fougere barbershop vibe and yet have differences.

While Eau Sauvage smells like "Old Money", Pour Monsieur smells like "New Money" ...

Eau Sauvage leaves a powdery, elevated and very elegant impression.

Imagine a classmate living across the street in a huge Wilhelminian-style mansion. His grandfather had made his money as a parts supplier to the automotive industry in the 1920s before the crash. His father took over the company in the 1950s and successfully transformed it into the new era. If he picked you up from school in a 600 Benz, he wore Eau Sauvage. It smelled of privilege and the upper class.

Now a few years have passed, it's the 1990s and you lost a lot of money on the stock market in the 80s! But now you are in the upper management of a company that manufactures screen printing machines for the printing industry and have bought a new apartment, in your garage is a new R129 SL in wine red with champagne interior and your apartment has an ultra-modern hi-fi sound system from Harman Kardon and you can choose between Phil Collins or Simply Red ... now you've arrived in the upper class... at least that's what you think and you want to round off the masquerade with a matching fragrance!
Eau Sauvage? No, too old-fashioned, and it doesn't suit you . You get yourself Pour Monsieur from Chanel! A little more arrogant and dirty than Eau Sauvage...

That's more or less how I imagine the differences between the two.

To me, Pour Monsieur (at least in the current version) smells like the Wall Street yuppies of the 80s ... Freshly citrusy but such a dirty citric in your face! Add a little more spice and there you have Pour Monsieur... the people who drive their S Class or SL to the tennis club on Sundays in Hugo Boss suits and Ralph Lauren ties ...

Personally, I find both beautiful, although the Eau Sauvage is "too good" for me. The Pour Monsieur has more "character" because something happens ...

Longevity and sillage are ok...

Price is also ok, I personally would have liked the old bottle design better. Like Antaeus

Why the hype?
Bleu Noir here in the Edp version is unfortunately somehow disappointing...
The fragrance delivers what it promises but I somehow expected more ... yes it smells clean and fresh . But that's it ... nothing happens ... the fragrance remains relatively linear. And seriously, for the money there are fragrances that offer much more ... if you want a blue fresh synthetic musk bomber, go for it! But there is also Nikko's Sculpture, which is more soapy but costs less than half the price and performs much better! The fragrance also offers more action ... or Dylan Blue, more shower gel vibes but also cheaper with more action in the fragrance course

Staring into the flames for too long ...
This "replica" really lives up to its name!

Full on the 12 smoky ! It's special and polarizing BUT Marie Salmange knows how to keep it in check! The vanilla helps it to calm down ... and especially on cold winter evenings it is so incredibly sexy ... wow !

How can you describe it "By the Fireplace" is actually a pretty good description ... you smell like you've been sitting by the long fire for too long ... but as I said with a nice vanilla note in the finish!

Personally, my only criticism is that the fragrance is quite flat ... too little happens . I would have liked more action! Somehow I don't know what floral in it or what fresh in Opening ...

Durability is 10/10 on your clothes lasts until you put it in the wash! The sillage on the other hand is nicely restrained not as strong as you might think but somehow fitting for such a fragrance.

When the fire is out and you make yourself comfortable inside under the blanket

Probably more of a cocktail bar than a jazz club
I've always found the concept behind the Replica range interesting. You basically take an idea or a memory and turn it into a fragrance

Now "Jazz Club" is something that I personally associate primarily with a dark smoky club somewhere in downtown Manhattan ... where all the Wall Street bankers drink away their frustration when the prices have fallen again or celebrate because they have just made a few million ... it's dark, you sit on old leather armchairs and a light haze of cigars and cigarettes hangs everywhere....

This is NOT what Jazz Club smells like !

I don't know why but for me it's more like a tropical cocktail bar in Miami ... or Florida ....
The fragrance has a very prominent "coconut" note that dominates the entire scent. Yes, there are some slightly boozy notes in the background, but they are quickly banished by the coconut... plus a slight sweetness and no trace of smoke ...

Missed the point in my opinion but good ... does that make the fragrance bad? No ...
The fragrance in and of itself is totally ok ... if you expect a tropical cocktail bar ... it's a good mood. Especially in summer! On those warm summer evenings when you're barbecuing with friends in the garden or meeting up at the lake. It goes really well there! But in the cold winter it doesn't stand a chance... it also has a hard time in the fall ... my opinion !

It clearly lacks the power and smoke to live up to its name ...

But hey, a cocktail bar can also be fun!

Durability and sillage ? Hmmm good mediocrity... it lasts a long time on clothes! But it only really performs in the first few hours but people will notice the scent all evening or working day if they stand near you ... it just won't fill a room ... it is rather something dignified . Good for dates! Or just an evening at the barbecue with the boys ...

I've had the fragrance for about half a year now and I think it's changed a bit in terms of depth and performance. It has become a little more potent again

I would only have liked it to be a little smokier

80s as a niche perfume ? Lapidus Pour Homme of the upper class ?
Wow ... Wow simply wow !
Those were my thoughts when I smelled the fragrance for the first time ... This opening oh my god! The opening....

Imagine if there was a niche version of Lapidus Pour Homme, refined with sweet and floral elements that give it an "old money" touch ...
One Man Show : Gold Edition smells like an elitist, almost arrogant antisocial niche version of Lapidus Pour Homme...

You have this green woody, slightly animalic note as a base that we know from Lapidus Pour Homme. Not as animalic as Kouros, more like a barbershop. As if your father took a shower in an old bathroom from the 70s and then shaved ... Green, resinous, musky and above all soapy with a slight "piss" note but only slightly to give it something pithy ... so far so Lapidus Pour Homme but now come on! Your father is wearing Black Orchid by Tom Ford! The animalic green hard barbershop is now joined by a light sweetness that skillfully takes the fragrance experience to a new level with floral notes!
This is what OMS: Gold Edition smells like to me

For the price ? Insane .... !

Let's come to the performance, which is quite ok ... in the first hours the scent is very present but after 3-4 hours it calms down ... then you only really notice it in the immediate vicinity ... but it lasts all day on your clothes! But really Beast Mode? Hmm, I don't know... the first few hours yes, but as I said, the beast is gone after 5 hours at the latest... which is not to say that the fragrance is weak! No no it has power but compared to Sauvage Elixir or Kouros ..m hmmm it is rather solid ...
