wood chips
This was wood, wood, wood, with some of whatever was being stored in the oaken barrels. I got a sample as I'd heard it was similar to By the Fireplace (and to a lesser extent Noir Exquis) but found no sweetness here at all.
It was quite sharp, not really warm to me, but did work nicely layered with perfumes i found a bit too sweet. Performance was pretty good. Love the label design.

citrusy lavender
Quite aromatic, it grew on me as I used up my sample. On skin this was more sourish bergamot than earl grey, and the lavender was a bit blurry. The musty paper is definitely there, but it took a few tests before I could tell what I was smelling. Tried it on the ends of my hair, the lavender was much stronger with some black tea coming through.
Will be looking for more lavender scents after this as it was quite nice!

Not your typical aquatic
This was very deep and heavy. It isn't exactly oceanic, but certainly gave off the vibes of an ancient sea beast. Cthulhu sashimi served up with lemon. What salt there is reminds me of crunchy, half-dried-up rock pools baked in the sun's heat.
Less poetically, the thick animalic notes remind me of Cuir de Russie's leather (Chanel), which was way too much for my pleb nose.

I was so excited to try Squid, but sadly I couldn't love this one. Definitely recommend sampling if you see it around, it's so different and complex.
