In silence lies the power and the magic
For the first time it seems to me that it is not enough to write just a statement to describe a fragrance and for the first time I really feel like writing a commentary.

From my sample order, this was one of the last fragrances from "The Motley" that I tested, probably because I associated the name "Cyprus" with 'Chypre', although the listed fragrances don't give it away at all, and the names of the fragrances in the series rather refer to areas or regions of the world. Yesterday, however, I stumbled again over the sample I had been waiting for for days.

The fragrance starts with a slightly herbaceous-bitter note, which I would most likely associate with ginger. Relatively quickly - and now it's getting exciting - a fascinatingly authentic, but only moderately sweet marzipan note spreads on my skin, which causes irritation at first because the fragrance simultaneously develops a subtly soapy note (of ginger), even almost clean note, which seems to contradict it. Over time, the fragrance becomes softer and warmer, and the amber adds a tiny touch of animalism that makes it exciting. I don't find the pine needle and cedar, at best they underlay the scent with a dry wood tone that makes it rounder. Whether Cyprus smells like that, I don't know... but I feel amazingly comfortable with this scent.

All of this remains extremely discreet, quiet, still and pleasing and is exactly the magic of this perfume line for me. Although here fragrances are used, which elsewhere are used to scream their essence into the world, they sometimes create only the hint of a premonition and float gently around their wearer. The durability is from my point of view with 5-6 hours quite sufficient.

The same can be read on the website of the American brand "THE MOTLEY original fragrance blends are truly unique scents for the body formulated with a hands-on approach outside the often over-perfumed designer world. Scents that don't overshadow the wearer, but rather adapt and compliment one's own character" and although this is of course also a marketing strategy, it expresses exactly what I associate with these fragrances

For some, if not many, this may not be enough, but I, on the other hand, think it is beautiful. Whether one wants to pay the price called for this and whether this is justified, is, as with many other perfumes, left to one's own devices.
Probably one of the reasons why the brand receives little attention here, but I think it's worth taking a look and training the nose again for the fine and subtle nuances in (fragrance) life.
