An intoxicating and addicting scent.
Overall, I would describe this scent as quite masculine, yet very elegant. What I mostly get from this on my skin is a very woody, slightly sweet, and rich "dampness". In the opening of the scent, there is actually a really nice and subtle rum note that provides a classy "booziness". The dampness comes from patchouli, which can often lend an earthy/dirty accord that can be off-putting, but it's done very well here...a purely complimentary element, and stands out just enough. The "dried fruit" accord is a stand-out one, and I truly love it. It certainly adds to the olfactive identity of STH. As the scent dries, you lose the booziness and fruitiness, and you're left with a warm, dry yet damp, and slightly vanillic woody patchouli.

Potency: I only used one good spray from the sample vial, so this may be different compared to a full spray from an actual bottle. It is subtle but definitely present, even after a few hours. This is surely in the fragrance's favor. This combination of ingredients can often create something a bit cloying if it's too potent. Its lightness is a strong suit. However, it should last on the skin an entire day of activity.

Occasions: in my opinion, this is a very good scent for the cooler seasons, when you're dressed nicely. This would suit an upscale event perfectly, whether tuxedo or suit/tie. However, I wouldn't consider this a casual-wear fragrance. For one, it's scent profile seems simply too elegant. But more importantly, the price of a bottle of this stuff will make it not so ideal to have to replace if worn too often.

Value: as far as I know, a full bottle only comes in a 50ml size, and I've seen prices as low as $260 and as high as $500+. It's no cheapie. You're supposedly paying for the quality of the ingredients and the presentation of the bottle and optional coffret (which looks great). I might consider the value much better if they offered the fragrance in at least a 100ml size for that price. But hey. Spend it if you got it (and if you love it!)

Parfums Vintage has an interesting alternative to STH, which I have reviewed on my YouTube channel. I'll post the review here.

Beautiful and unique unisex scent
Up top I get a cinnamon-spicy, sweet and woody plum. Fairly strong, very natural. Great blend. Over the first 10 minutes, the scent gets more and more woody. Ultimately, I get a VERY strong cedar wood on top of a sweet and spicy cinnamon plum. SUPER WOODY and pretty spicy when smelled up close. Sillage is more sweet cinnamon plum, with a hint of vanilla. Most definitely unisex, but may lean very slightly more masculine than feminine. 30 minutes in, woods and spices tone down and the scent smooths out quite a bit. Plum, cinnamon, and vanilla remain at forefront. Sweet and pleasant. A classy gentlemen could pull this off. Well-dressed and confident. Could be worn day or night. A woman could pull it off too. Might be a little too spicy and woody for some women at first (imo), but I think the dry down would be appreciated. I really appreciate this scent. For the Spring, Autumn, and Winter.

Nothing special, but that ain't bad
Starts off bright, soapy-fresh, citrusy, and a little sweet. Fresh soapiness comes from lavender, citrus seems to be mostly coming mostly from bergamot and neroli (especially up close, a tad bitter), and the slight sweetness seems to originate from the mandarin orange. I notice that off of my shirt, because the fragrance drys much slower, it stays on the sweeter side for longer. Overall, a nice smell in the beginning. Fairly light projection, but definitely creates a scent bubble. After an hour+, I still get a bit of a scent bubble but projection has definitely calmed down. Overall scent is still a bit soapy-fresh, musky (musk in the base), and even a little herbal (sage). Still getting a little bit of bitterness. 90+ minutes in, I'm loving the muskiness that seems to be taking over the soapy-freshness. After almost 3 hours in, I can barely pick this up around me. It's barely coming off of my hand, but I feel as if it might have a stronger presence off of my shirt. Ultimately smells musky with a hint of neroli and creamy sandalwood. Very, very light, but very pleasant. This is an easy to wear, classy, masculine scent that will be great for casual daytime wear (perfect for work, lunch date, etc.). 4 hours later, I can conclude that shirt-spraying with this one is the way to go. I feel like the fragrance has rested at its heart notes in its sillage, and it gives off a consistent, pleasant aura. By the 6th hour, barely a skin scent. Safe range for longevity on skin is 4-6 hours.

Simple, Pleasant, Good Quality
-opens up fresh (lavender), bright, and natural
-a very pleasant orange note along with mixed citruses, a little sweet
-a slight greenness/herbaceous nature when smelled up close (possibly due to violet)
-effervescent in the air; light, but present
-As zestiness from citruses fade, scent is still fresh (lavender and other florals) and a bit herbaceous, with a hint of sweetness still lingering (possibly from the musk or the lilac, which can give off a honey-like sweetness)
-performs like an EDP: lasts on my skin up to 8 hours with decent projection within the first 3
-Very easy to wear, and good quality for the price!

A phenomenal blend of the highest quality
Scent: going to take a slightly different approach, and do a comparative analysis:
-comparing it to Spicebomb Extreme, they certainly have a similar vibe. SE is sweeter and more aggressive (spicier) in the opening, while Herod is also sweet but much smoother (not as spicy).
-As the initial blast dissipates, SE definitely reveals itself to be fairly fresh (there's lavender). Herod is a warmer fragrance.
-The main accords I get in SE are "cinnamon" (there's no cinnamon, here, but perhaps the mix of tobacco, caraway, and black pepper seems to create the accord), and not long after that the scent calms a bit and becomes a little smoother (thanks to the vanilla). Herod's cinnamon accord is actually cinnamon, and definitely comes off as more than just a representation of it.
-The tobacco note is so smooth (as compared to SE and also DG The One, in which the accord is a bit dirtier, harsher, though not off-putting); though smooth, the tobacco it is definitely the most detectable accord. The vanilla provides a smooth sweetness, that seems to calm the black pepper and cinnamon here (those two can come off as extremely spicy, I find it astounding at how smooth the scent is in light of that). The foundation of the sweetness is definitely the cinnamon, which seems to stay a while. There is a tiny, tiny hint of freshness, which probably comes from the vetiver in the base (though the actual scent of vetiver is virtually undetectable, it's just the vibe).
-Overall, if comparing Herod to SE, it is clear that Herod is a niche fragrance. The quality of the ingredients and their blend is so well done. It is very difficult to truly distinguish the other notes, like the incense (slight vibe), osmanthus, and labdanum in the heart, or even the woods in the base. The only other presence I can detect outside of the main accords is a bit of muskiness.
Performance: lasts 12+ hours on my skin, projects ok for the first 3 or so, seems to get a little stronger during that time, then basically a skin scent after 8 hours, but I didn't have to dig my nose into my arm to smell it. Definitely stays on my skin much longer. I took a shower the next morning (almost 20 hours later), and as my skin started to heat up from the hot water, I started smelling it again.
