Not many scents manage to influence the mood and trigger feelings. The sense of smell is directly linked to the memory center in the brain, whereby already experienced experiences can be evoked again by a mere smelling of certain fragrances or chords. Be it a distinctive smell from childhood, a favorite food or some fleetingly perceived odor in nature.

Such is the case with Carlisle and me. My Latin and English teacher at the time always wore such a fragrant, very potent woody/sweet scent which beguiled not only my, but also my classmates' noses with its opulence and full-bodiedness. Hardly a day went by without this scent being perceived somewhere in the school building and so this scent memory burned itself into my memory. Which fragrance was it, you ask? Well, we never asked him. It was simply HIS scent, no matter what it was called. We all linked this great teacher with this pleasantly warm, amber, spicy fragrance that so wonderfully reflected his personality as hardly any other could.

Time jump 2022

The doorbell rings and the man in the yellow shirt faces me. Another package had found the long way to me. After several disappointing blind purchases, I swore to myself that this was now the last time a fragrance without prior testing simply buy.
The package was opened with precise and careful cuts and in the midst of filler and bubble wrap she lay, the black OVP of the brand Parfums de Marly. I pulled off the lid and to reveal a beautiful, pitch black bottle with a lid for which you probably need a gun license. In short - pure luxury. I took the bottle in my hand, removed the lid, which came off the bottle with such a satisfying click that you would think you were opening the door of a Mercedes S-Class. The nose wandered gen spray head to guess the first whiff of the fragrance and already I knew: Here awaits you YOUR fragrance!

With two spirited sprays landed the finely atomized Eau de Parfum on the back of my hand and left an oily film. The scent filled the entire room within seconds and that was the moment where I was mentally catapulted back into the classroom. There it was, that comforting warm, sweet/spicy smell I had missed so much. Bingo!

Carlisle starts with a subtle nuance of green apple, which gently lays over the fragrance framework and with its fresh fruitiness skillfully brightens the otherwise rather heavy fragrance character. This is immediately followed by the main players in the blockbuster, composed by Quentin Bisch. Vanilla, tonka and nutmeg give a sweet/creamy and at the same time spicy note, which is perfectly contrasted by nuances of patchouli and guaiac wood. This back and forth between creamy sweetness and tart earthiness with a hint of leather creates a beguiling scent. Carlisle manages to balance sweet, spicy, floral, fresh and woody like no other fragrance on the market. It envelops the wearer in a cloak of pure sex appeal. Carlisle is the end of the line. 10/10.A timeless masterpiece has been created here that excites people and evokes emotions. My hat is off to you Monsieur Bisch, chapeau!
