Times are changing...
About two years ago it is that I have taken with an AF purchase in the souk while browsing the further offer "Buddha Wood" so to speak as a "supplementary purchase", I liked the name, molecular scents I found exciting, sandalwood (so I thought at the time) always goes, so why not?
Then, druff with it on the skin, but no, that was not "my" sandalwood, too synthetic, somehow sourish... Nope, does not have to be. And so the AF disappeared in the Pröbchen and AF teeming in the depths of my perfume cabinet.
At that time.

The other evening I decided to finally clean out a bit, everything came on a large tray to sort the jumble of samples and bottlings in peace at the big table in the living room, to check my records, to update my lists and folders and to select superfluous to bring it soon by raffle to the general Parfumo circuit ...
And that's when the "Buddha-Wood"-AF gets into my hands. No I didn't spray, just smelled the sprayer, but somehow a tiny amount of it got on my fingers.
And I was flashed. But so much!
I spent the night with my fingers up my nose. OK, not quite, but I just couldn't get away from that scent...

Accordingly, the next day was a full test.
What we have there actually?
A fragrance from a Danish manufacture for molecule fragrances. OK, molecule fragrances I know a bit, the notorious "Molecule 01" of Escentric Molecules stands as AF in my cabinet, purchased to play around a bit with it, but in the end I found's but then quite boring, for itself rather pale and as a "scent enhancer" it came to me rather like glutamate in the food. Can you do, but you can also leave, I do not need it.
And what speaks the creator of "Buddha Wood"?
Ahja, fragrance develops only on the skin of the wearer, individual aura, very own fragrance signature of each individual, etc.... bla bla bla... everything heard before, molecule scent halt, synthetics purely.

I have now actually nothing against synthetics, I am long aware that not even in the flacons of those who make always great with "natural fragrances" advertising, actually only the purest natural essences are. And of course I know that many "synthetic fragrances" are purer and clearer than the original essences, and I always like purity and clarity. In fact, I don't even care if a fragrance is synthetically created - the main thing is that it smells good on me.
Synthetics also have advantages, Zarkoperfume emphasizes them by saying that the fragrances are 100% animal-free, 100% vegan, sustainable and resource-saving. I like that. That synthetic fragrances for sensitive skin and allergy sufferers would be more suitable than natural essential oils I take note, since I'm almost not affected there's but no extra point.

Enough of the theory - how does it smell now, the molecule scent, more precisely: How does it smell on me?
What had I noted down two years ago? How did I comment on the fragrance at that time?
"Acidic-synthetic-fluffy" I wrote then, and that it was not "my" sandalwood.
And today, after quite a few sandalwood fragrances tested without having found "my" sandalwood?
"Synthetic-fluffy", yep, and I love it! It shines, it flickers, it shimmers, I think it's gorgeous! No development I wrote two years ago. I wrote two years ago. But it doesn't need much development either, because like the Iso-E-Super, I perceive it in recurring waves that play around me, and I like that effect. It's really strong, even though I haven't sprayed much, it feels like I'm surrounded by a wonderful cloud of the purest, brightest, sweetest sandalwood, as if I've just come out of a Buddhist temple where I've meditated and become one with the universe again. I float! Simply beautiful...

And what was now with this sour undertone that has disturbed me then?
I no longer perceive it today, whether it's because my nose, my perception and sensation has evolved with the many tests? There's something besides the sandalwood, clearly - but I can't define it, most likely it actually goes in a fruity direction, but I can not really name, even find beautiful although fruity in fragrances I rarely like. I am excited.

Just so (hahaha!) I look at Idealo by, just look what the so costs.... An orange "Sale" flashes at me, less than half the normal price. Providence? Must be so...
My clicking finger hovers over the shopping cart for about an hour while the Swabian inside me quacks around and asks annoying questions. Finally, he twitches - not a second too late, because from the 55% have long become again only 12% while the fragrance was already in my shopping cart...

Earlier came the mail that my package is ready to pick up in the parcel shop.
Now he is in front of me, in his white shiny cardboard tube made of recycled material, the whole presentation I find very nice, the bottle is high quality even if the cap can not quite keep up with the otherwise valuable impression.
I am happy - and when I have also snapped and weighed the same I will put on this wonderful fragrance again and float the rest of the day in unity with the universe before me...

Crystal clear mountain lake
The gentian water immediately beamed me back to the crystal clear mountain lakes of my childhood. My father was a passionate mountaineer, so even as children we went hiking in the mountains to considerable heights, slept in mountain huts in mattress camps and actually bathed in such ice-cold mountain lakes.
I smell pure, clear mountain air - and I think I finally understand what is meant by "ozonic".
Maybe I can find "my" aquatic animals up in the mountains?
And what does incense have to do with it, where does this bright and light?

I'm very impressed
Of clarity.
From minimalism.
And that this scent showed me that the time machine "scent memory" can also work the other way round - not only when you smell a scent from the past but also when a modern scent puts your thumb on exactly the right synapses

Do you really smell gentian? I can't tell, the gentian in our garden smells of little to nothing

In the Grünlings-Battle the gentian water is in any case very far in front - but according to my previous feeling he does not belong there at all but rather in the "blue" corner.
The flacon is already a dream from the pictures.
The durability exceeds my expectations by far - mountain lake splashes continue to roll up even after 8-9 hours.

Do I want to wear it?
Should he wear it?
Filling must be here.

Gossip from yesterday... or the exception to the rule?
How many times have I already written that I give a wide berth to new editions of the fragrance favourites of my youth, because I don't want to have my memories ruined?

All talk of yesterday
Well camouflaged in a completely new outfit, the new edition of Magic Noire has smuggled itself onto my wrist in our small town miller. Don't ask me how this could have happened to me, because the prayer wheel that is supposed to protect my favorites from times long gone and the memories in my brain connected with them is still rotating reliably
Actually

And then this bitch sneaks onto my wrist and the tangy dark scent sneaks straight into my brain and I immediately see the old bottle in front of me (which I already hated at the time), in my parents' bathroom at times when I wasn't even a teenager. Pure time travel. I wasn't old enough for this fragrance, my mother didn't even have to tell me. Maybe that's what saves me the scent into today - I didn't wear it myself, unlike the scents that were "hip" when I was a real teenager like Opium and Poison and with which I had my own experiences separated from my parents' house.

Did I recognize him?
It feels more like a rich slap in the face - for forgetting that scent that even the name didn't truncate me...
I have earned this slap in the face, because Magie Noire proves to me at least that there are new editions that manage to recall images and feelings in my brain that I no longer have in my conscious memory.

That was almost a year ago. After the hot summer 2019 it was the end of September so far that I took a sprayed strip home with me where it disappeared in the nirvana between sofa and wall and scented the living room for 2 days before we did some major cleaning and fished it out in the usual "black hole" between felt thousands of cat toys. He was then allowed to continue to smell elsewhere, and indeed, 13 days after spraying (!!!!) I still noted that the strip still smells fantastic.
In my own notes I still tell myself at that time that there are modern, new fragrances and I shouldn't stop there, especially since I really had a lot of exclusive fragrances to test at that time. But I started to doubt, especially since many "exclusive" fragrances really disappointed me and I hadn't found this dark-bitter edge yet.

The next skin test was inevitable. And again, Magic Noire completely picked me up. Now no longer as a memory scent, but rather as an oriental with edge and that little bit of animalism that makes a scent really erotic. What all the specimens and bottlings I had tested in the meantime in this direction could not fulfill - but maybe I was on the wrong track in my search?

Now is the time. A 10ml filling arrived and I can hardly keep my hands off it, although the filling was more of a "surcharge"

In order to turn this purely emotional personal description of the situation into a reasonably decent comment, I would like to say:
Yes, this is a "Wummser" old school with high complexity, maybe even a typical example of an oriental chypre (this is rather for chypre fans to judge), the animalics are soft but charming, everything very well balanced.
Durability is great, I can't judge Sillage.
Also for the current version I recommend a low dosage - could still spray a ticking too much eroticism at the workplace.

Conclusion: Great fragrance, also in the new edition. Please dispense discreetly - otherwise it will be weird or cheap.

The smell of leather is a thing of its own...
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------->
So at some point I have to start writing a comment, and completely irrationally it has now hit this scent. And yes, the text is almost a year old, I just don't really dare to give out my notes - so please be gracious with me :-)
A lot has been written about scent and I'm sure I can't smell any more out there, I'm sure there are better noses. But maybe you are interested in my little Simply comparison from last year anyway :-)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------->

The smell of leather is so 'ne thing for itself and there are several variants.
It is a long way from the stinking raw skin to the finest white suede gloves scented with violets (like from the novel "Perfume").

As a child and teenager I had the opportunity to visit a leather warehouse again and again - ready tanned, partly dyed, selected hides for furniture. But already in the division there were countless variants...
And above all a specific smell that makes leather for me, for my nose.

How to reproduce this fragrance in a perfume?
I don't know, doesn't seem to be that easy...
Violets seem to play a role for centuries :-)

When I had the first sample of "Simply Elixir" under my nose for the first time, I first thought of my late grandma (absolutely in a positive sense!!!). In fact, I have no idea what fragrances she wore, but the leather violet-combination was definitely there. Safe in an exclusive variant.

Back to the leather, back to "is just such a thing for itself and there are several variants". For my nose, this is exactly what the three Simplys are celebrating:
According to the fragrance pyramid they all have the same base and of course the violet in their heart - but the impression I get is completely different.
The principle is simple (*thigh tapping*) - but for me it works (as a leather newbie I am simply knitted): The white are the fine goatskin gloves, the red is the suede coat, the black is the biker pants...

I find all three beautiful - but I was looking for an autumn scent and it was the elixir sample that fixed me to leather.
The white one is also beautiful, starts fresh and flowery, is overall light and light, the leather is much more restrained - and, well, just light fine suede :-)
The red is spicy from the start, the flowers smell heavier and cedar is added - I find it to be the most expressive and full of character. And considered perfect for autumn.
The black is the harsh, slightly oriental variant (I don't understand why not at least the one declared as unisex - that's already the red one for me), so I also see the similarity to Fahrenheit stronger than in the red one.

In the end, I bought the red one - "Simply Elixir".
No suede coat, not in memory of grandma (she's with me anyway).
Simply because I think he's terrific.

Topic leather: Finished until further notice.
