No invitation to the common birthday
It's funny that I'm only testing this classic from my birth year now. Perhaps I have so far made a wide arc around him, fearing that I might not like him. Because sooooo many 1966 fragrances are finally no longer available - and then also from the pen of master Roudnitska! How nice it would be to feel the need to add it to my collection for nostalgic reasons alone... hach...

But no, my dear "Eau Sauvage", unfortunately my nose does not feel like nostalgia in your case! Well, yes, a nice, lemony opening, underlaid with slightly powdery notes which initially could not be determined more closely... a little lavender and clovery... softening in the course of time, but after three hours already considerably diminishing and becoming very close until you say goodbye slightly sweetly after about five hours - and leave me somewhat perplexed whether the classic qualities that I am now not able to open up at all... Or have the reformulations so much deformed you and you have fallen victim to the severe restrictions on the use of oakmoss?

Be that as it may, you are a quite "tidy" fragrance, yes, and certainly in the context of time to pay homage to as the first Dior men's perfume that has apparently inspired many other fragrances. Goutal's "Eau du Sud" from `97 is immediately in my nose, but in my opinion it is more striking, more charming and surprisingly more durable - at least on my skin.

After all, the test of the "original" animated me to put the EdP from 2017, which is much praised here, on my watch list. From the EdC of the same name I advise to leave your fingers completely, unless you like synthetic-grassy Wühltisch quality.

Enough "thirsty" now, you dear Eau Sauvage fans. Keep enjoying your favorite, I would have loved to join your club... But at least the graphic advertising video for the 50th birthday (see above) is really cool and very nice to look at..

Oud - Syrup
Normally I try to avoid my comments being too sober. But, dear Oud Wood, you're just killing me! With my last strength I manage to publish my test notes here...:

- Here we go: Whoa, he's going full! Fresh leather, animalistic, newly bought shoes
- 4 hours later: oudig-ledriger impression remains, pepper gives freshness, strong Sillage, beautiful development
- 6 hours later: the fragrance becomes softer. Amber, tonka bean and vanilla? Most beautiful phase so far
- 7 hours later: Hm, has probably passed the zenith, somehow only smell shoe polish
- 8 hours later: Now he exaggerates it, too fat, too creamy, causes headaches, slowly gets me too much
- 16 hours later (the next morning) : After the shower still 50% of the initial silage! Is that a perfume or glue syrup?
- 24 hours later: Go away at last, you're annoying!
- 30 hours later: Don't be there tomorrow morning!!

"Oud Wood" is a good example for the fact that too long durability can destroy the most beautiful smell... *Air intake* ... Tom Ford fragrances are often clear statements rather than gentle flatterers... *Röchel* ... But you don't have to overdo it either... transcended practise... ü...

Trust, creativity and little hoppers
Orange creates trust (pay attention to how many politicians wear orange ties when they have to testify in the committee of inquiry). And orange makes you awake and creative. I usually rely on this aromatherapeutic effect when I apply my previous orange fragrance favourites: "Orange Sanguine" by Atelier Cologne. It already awakens and illuminates wonderfully. But we know there's no such thing as the Holy Grail for the nose. There's still someone coming along who can do it a little better. And in this case it is simply called "Orange" by perfume-individual Harry Lehmann, Berlin.

So freshly herb-fruity, so deep and ripe, no orange has yet shot into my nose - and so natural that my heart immediately begins to jump. Yes, this "orange" awakens spirits! And she does it long and persistently, especially intensively of course in the first 90 minutes, with a good sillage for four to five hours and can still be sniffed very closely after eight hours. On the one hand this may be due to my skin chemistry, which often gives well made citrus scents a comparatively high endurance, on the other hand probably also to the surprising EdP concentration for a citrus scent.

Of course "Orange" does not offer a thoroughly composed development in the course of the wearing time. But that would also be counterproductive, since one wishes that the orange freshness splash would not diminish at all. Despite all the fresh fruitiness, it is also the scent of a ripe fruit, underlaid with a light, dark herbaceousness at lower altitudes... This leads me to assume that "Orange" feels most at home on mature, male skin.

Since I wasn't sure how great the stamina of "Orange" is during our first visit last weekend at Lehmanns in Berlin's Kantstraße 106, I cautiously had only 50 ml (for the price of 26.50 €!) bottled - a funny chat with Mr. Lehmann juniorjunior included. I could have been braver...!
