The Song of Fire and Ice
Never before have I received so many requests and requests to test and comment on a fragrance. From perfumers, from perfumeries, from friends. After the Aventus hype, all eyes were on the new men's creed. For me, as you can easily tell by the months that have dragged by, the urge was not as great. But now I've taken the Nordic Conqueror for a few rounds and I have to say.... i like it. Not one that makes the scent heart jump for joy, not one that it's pushing into my collection without a detour, but if you like the majority of the other, older Creeds, you certainly won't dislike "Viking".

"Viking" is not an Aventus sequel. It won't, it can't, it doesn't even have to be. Without the megahit as a prequel, and without the brand's "controversial" reputation, I'm sure some opinions wouldn't be so harsh. "Viking" doesn't make it easy for the younger generation and clearly has a masculine vibe of days gone by. It's a super-cooled, tart and fresh scent that is as reminiscent of icy mountains as it is fiery giants. I wonder if it would land on Valkyries Not macho, not powerhouse, not "stinky." Not even really Aquate. More of a timeless, unadorned and stately evergreen. It aims to be a signature scent. Not mine. But maybe someone's out there. The opposite of a crowdpleaser - gotta have some guts after the big A. "Viking" is hot-cold and thoroughly elegant. Just has to be given plenty of chances and circumnavigate its hard shell. The mint is aggressive, the patchouli inconsequential, the rest always keeps its distance and remains somewhat snore-like. So I'm not surprised by the rather negative vibe. It also caused me a slight headache at some moments. Overall, however, not a bad fragrance - outrageous price disregarded.

Flacon: a bit colorful and kitschy, but not a total fashion fail. But can understand why some thought he was a fake at first...
Sillage: rather oldschool creed and contrary to the Aventus trend not intrusive or far reaching.
Durability: there should have been more in it - 5-7 hours

Verdict: Ragnar Lodbrok likes it - many perfumos do not. I like "Viking" - an exception fragrance smells but of course different. He is between the stools, between genres and generations, makes no one really happy. Solidly wearable. But it will hardly conquer any hearts
