On light footing

The fickle summer has now decided to put an end to its bad mood and is finally trying to appease us with a few nice days. And it succeeds quite well. Somewhat taken aback by the kindness, I also reach for the cheerful and light-footed summer fragrances in my collection in the last days of September.
The house of Diptyque has a lot to offer us - smart, soapy flowers, rose petals, green stems and leaves. And so, with the smart "L'eau du Trente Quatre", the master of almost everything, Olivier Pescheux, has composed an unmistakable, light fragrance with a lot of character, a typical Diptyque perfume.
The first impression is bright, fresh and somewhat cool, even a little distant. I suspect white flowers and geraniums and a lot of light and dark green.
Soon creamy tones are added and memories of clean-smelling soap lather, of the washing lines stretched across the courtyard, hung with freshly laundered shirts and fabrics fluttering in the sky blue.
Mother's laundry day ... Mecklenburg ... Early seventies ... Childhood
Not far from the laundry area, the garden in the courtyard with a currant hedge and lots of green rustling. In the evening, the smell of warm wood from the garden bench against the house wall.
Intense, open-hearted, clean, green and the bitterness of the first days of fall - that's how I experience and enjoy this special scent. And it took some experience to recognize the beauty of this fragrance.

Meditative blossom splendour
I don't have a particular affinity for floral scents... or so I thought. Since the intensive occupation with fragrance creations, I learned in a wonderful way to thoroughly clean up with my hastily formed fragrant prejudices and stubborn pigeonhole thinking. At first I was inspired by some beautiful compositions with violets. Cautiously I approached fragrant rose splendour. Many superficial clichés quickly dissolved and I was very quickly aware that any form of limitation of the (fragrance) experience can also mean an early end and boredom for exciting and enjoyable fragrance journeys.
Sutra Ylang was a blind purchase. Since I am a great friend of laurel - even in fragrances - my attention was
aroused. So here in the top note ...
Also clove and cardamom in the lush - floral composition seemed interesting to me. I also associated with the brand Bois 1920 very nice and interesting fragrance experiences.
A few days later, I then held the typical, simple and urban bottle in my hand.
A fabulous fragrance developed on my skin. From the beginning, I was overwhelmed by the richness, complexity and intensity of the composition. A dark floral spiciness, beautifully framed with light sandalwood and shimmering resins.
What a splendor and what enormous, infinite depth. All the fragrance elements blend into a lush, benevolent meditative sound....
Wild gardens, summer evenings in August, fragrant woods and seas of blossoms in Far Eastern temples.... For all the heavy opulence, there remains an impression of wonderful floral lightness.
This beautiful duality characterizes Sutra Ylang.

I can enjoy Sutra Ylang very much, but would not want to wear it, as its fragrance character seems too opulent for me. Probably he would permanently "overrule" me in his polyphony.
I will pass on Sutra Ylang and keep him in the best memory.

Perhaps he will find a good place in Murderbee's collection.

Objective beauty
Such a special and straightforward clarity of expression I have rarely encountered on my fragrance journeys.
Schnörkellos Acca Kappa presents the theme of lavender. Gently framed by the friendly, dark floral - powdery violet, atmospheric incense and delicate musk. Despite these beautiful underpinnings, which play a very minor role in the further course of the fragrance, the lavender appears almost pure, intense and austere. An almost sober metallic note also pushes forward a few times, simulating coolness. A pleasant experience, as it remains completely unspectacular and entirely focused on the lavender. No labyrinths, no opulence but clear and comprehensible.
I like Blue Lavender extraordinarily. The strict habitus reminds me of the objective expression and structure of "L'orpheline | Serge Lutens".
Blue Lavender unfolds wonderfully on fresh spring days, also on summer and autumn evenings. White linen, flowing cool and warm shades of gray or deep blue, cool colors go well with this Eau de Cologne.
Blue Lavender convinces with its pervasive coolness and monothematic presence that never bores.

Peacemaker
It's not the grand entrance in elegant evening attire, no fragrant shower of blossoms, no stormy and sparkling water, no English-distinguished clatter of teacups. Nor a dark forest of witches or something encroachingly animalistic in notchy leather jacket.

No.

It's delicious and downright gourmand.
Sunday afternoon. The tidy kitchen. On the big wooden table is Mother's brightly painted biscuit tin, filled to the brim with gorgeous pastries. Very fresh.
Lifting the lid, such a wonderful, familiar scent of delicate buttery cookies with vanilla - powdered over with a light hint of almonds, of transparent ambers, toffee and butter - escapes. There's some brown sugar and creamy whipped cream to go with the hot coffee. The bouquet of violets on the table smells quite wonderfully dark-flowered and bitter-green.
Everything is familiar, everything is well and velvety. ... Would like to embrace me and the world.

From the radio, a pretty ballad by the Carpenters crumples onto the white tablecloth.

Little world.
My little world.
With cookies.

Peacemakers.

Evening in September
Autumn. An afternoon on one of the last days of September. The still warming light of the day falls through the rustling crowns of the apple trees and sunny spots of light scurry across the orchard between orange and brown spotted leaves and overripe apples. The heavy sweet scent of the red-cheeked fruits floats in the evening air.
Bronze. Abundance. Sweet labor.
A light wind blows the last blossoms onto the heavy wooden garden table. The bitter earthy and dry smell of the wood tanned by sun, rain, wind and time is wonderfully interwoven with the fragrant atmosphere of the golden shimmering afternoon and the overripe fruits fallen from the trees.
The evening descends and pours a last, rapidly fading light gently over the garden, the trees, over the fields.

There are many baskets of apples in the porch and in the kitchen. A splendid scent of vanilla and soft sweet melancholy wafts through the house.
Little luck

The windows are locked. It's going to get chilly out early now. The stove is humming softly its evening song.
The first time this year.
