after all these years, still my signature scent
CK be was the first fragrance I purchased as an adult - as an 18 year old college student. Then I was attracted to its unisex marketing and ease of wear. 13 years later, and with all my experience, in life and in fragrance, this remains my signature scent. it brings me comfort, and I can wear it anywhere at any time.
No one dislikes the smell of CK be, though everyone describes it differently. To the uninitiated, the top is a familiar citrus - bergamot. But also lavender? or mint? or is it rosemary? It's powdery at the top - soap. detergent. clean. nice enough. very nice, in fact. you'll chase this scent - it is gone within 60 seconds.
The middle is also mysterious. Is that peach? A "white peach?" Raspberry? Maybe it's a fantasy fruit, made up in a lab, but it is juicy and delicious. There's grass. More mint. Spices. Iris? But everything is behind a veil of powdery soap. the scent now projects to only 1 inch from the skin, and will be there for only 45 minutes.
But the basenotes are what make this truly special. Tonka? Sure. Opoponax and Sandalwood? If you say so. Pepper. And musk. Yep - definitely. Not a clean musk. A body musk.
If the top-notes and heart-notes were soap, the base is dirty laundry. The smell of a clean but unwashed armpit. Today's white t-shirt with this morning's fragrance and today's accumulated dirt. Yesterday's underwear.
There is no projection or sillage. This is a personal scent. Others will be able to smell if you spray about 10 times - and with juice this cheap, you can afford to bathe in the stuff. But I suggest you wear it for yourself.

I keep coming back
I tried 10 samples of various Heeley fragrances. Cardinal blew me away, and was my favorite. Vetiver Veritas is a close second.
The opening is spectacular. I get the freshest, juiciest mint - as if you gripped a bunch of mint leaves in your hand and squeezed until the juice ran down your wrist. And then a blast of fruit - not just citrus, but also fresh raspberries and strawberries. These top notes last for about 30 minutes.
Vetiver is the star for the rest of the show. Earthy, spicy, clean, just slightly smokey. Green. Fresh. Mysterious.
Completely unisex. Good projection and longevity, especially as compared to other Heeley fragrances. Unique but not weird.
I would absolutely buy a full bottle, but for some reason this fragrance only comes in 50ML, and is priced the same as the other Heeley fragrances, which are all sold at 100ML. Can't see why this is double the cost, even if it contains "only natural" ingredients...

Manna from heaven
Wonderful. Clean. Reminds me of the raw materials for incense - not yet processed, stored in a glass jar. Sweet, but not buttery. Dry. Cold.
Not a lot of distinct notes, though I do get the linen in the top notes.
I picture the royal court in ancient Timbuktu. Bleached linen, myrrh, ebony, ivory. An enormous library filled with papyrus scrolls and books, bronze telescopes, ancient maps. Scholars researching in silence.
Light. Quiet. Unisex. Close to the skin. Full bottle worthy.
