The floweriness is distracting - as with many flankers, I like the first version better
The price-performance ratio is really good - the fragrance is dirt cheap, which I really like. It's reminiscent of Hypnotic Poison, BUT here it's mixed with something flowery and sour - I don't like to call it fruity - which I don't like. I like the first version of Zara, which is still available, Hypnotic Vanilla, better.
And although both this and the version without flowers are reminiscent of Hypnotic Poison, this one doesn't last as long as the original. After half an hour or an hour at the latest, this fragrance unfortunately becomes "flatter" and somehow synthetic. In any case, it does not unfold the airy projection around itself as the original does.
Incidentally, the first version of Zara, Hypnotic Vanilla - without Bloom - reminds me of Kenzo's Amour, which was also the first version when it came out.

So if you want to reminisce nostalgically, I recommend not this one with the flowers but the other Hypnotic Vanilla by Zara.

Very sweet without being edible
Very sweet without being edible. You can guess the spices, but it looks like it's hidden under syrup or resin or poured over it. I don't see any cinnamon. It reminds me of sweet pipe tobacco; sometimes it seems so strangely wet, although you expect something dry and smoky. And that's how I feel with The Calling, as if wood had become wet and a box of cigars was standing next to it. It's well done and doesn't kill you and doesn't seem synthetic, but I still don't smell the exorbitant price. But I think I've smelled that way with others before. And this sweet rum-tobacco theme is too clichéd for me, too much "how to do it". Wood, tobacco and rum is what many people associate with a dignified Gentlemans Club, plus some sweet caramel to make it pleasing and there you go, the mainstreamer, pretending to be a niche, with a few spices thrown in. Hm, no. The best thing about the fragrance, I think, is the bottle.

unfortunately rather summer bathing water
I didn't even like him. Aquatic and artificial. Not even synthetic, not even synthetic because - luckily - this synthetic musk building block that blows your nose is not in it. But still. That's how I imagine bath water in which many bathers have swum on a summer's day and washed off their sun milk. And this film, which now floats on the bath water, it smells something like this. No, I don't like it.

friendly and pleasant company
Fresh, fruity, a bit flowery, creamy-powdery, pleasantly friendly without being too sweet, light Sillage, always goes, to the office or in the spare time, in summer or in winter. I would rather classify it as female, but find that it can also be worn by men. He really is an ever-goer and I mean that as a compliment. I can't understand the bad reviews here. That's a good one. And if you are looking for something friendly and clean without having to creak for detergent, you can find the right fragrance here.

Bergamot-Lavender-Oranges-Wood on Moss
The top note is gigantic and beautiful: Fresh, fruity ... I thought even flowery, but apparently that comes from the combination of orange/lavender - slightly spicy, a bit green. 10 minutes later, some wood comes through. I'd say, wood and vetiver. The fresh fruity aroma is now gone but the fresh tone of bergamot and orange is lingering on. Even later, the scent does not turn shrill but remains friendly to the nose, with its woody aroma ... with orange and the essential oils of rosemary and lavender mixed in. One wants to take a real deep breath and that feels nice! A fragrance that uplifts and brightens the day. Overall, the scent remains close to the skin and I would rather label it an 'Eau de Cologne' than an 'Eau de Toilette'. Definitely, it can be worn by women, too. I could fancy it on myself, and that is saying something.

"Escrimeur" has a slight classic vibe but I can imagine that it might please people who normally don't know what to do with classic gentlemen scents. As far as price, it falls into the affordable category (100 ml for less than 100 Euros). All in all, a scent worth recommending.

Thanks, Ergoproxy, for the sample.
And thank you, Pipette, for the translation.
