I actually quite like the original, at least for the darker months, but often just don't like to leaf the outrageous usual price on the table for it.

So I went in search of a dupe ... and there "La Rive" somehow pushes itself ;-)

Let's put it this way, it doesn't smell bad, but gets kind of musty and headache-inducing over time.
Also had a little feeling that there is possibly quality variations between the individual bottlings, not every bottle smelled the same. But can also be subjective.

Anyway, you can wear it if necessary, but my search is not over yet ...

Okay, one thing right off the bat, if you're a man and you're not into these extreme fruit basket bombs, you should steer clear.

If you like this kind of fragrances, however, then "The Hunting Man" is an absolutely successful dupe.

The fragrance is fresh-fruity, and very (!) strongly perceptible, with above-average durability and sillage.
For the darker months rather less suitable, I wore it last summer, and got positive feedback.

For about 7€ ... fits :-)

Another La Rive Cheapie, which I at least count as one of the better ones.
Right away, Sauvage smells a little better, and also different, and the first few minutes of Extreme Story are characterized by a brutal alcohol cloud, but after so about 15 minutes it becomes pleasant, you smell spicy-fresh, and not necessarily obtrusive.

In short, I like the fragrance, even if it is difficult for me to describe it really tangible.
Definitely suitable for everyday life, if you just want to smell fresh, and in the usual 6-8 € price range certainly not a bad buy.

Unfortunately, I find durability and sillage, although okay for the price, not too pronounced with me. Leads for me to the fact that I hardly notice him, for example, at work after 3-4 hours.
Since but certainly also plays a subjective component with.

After I was quite taken with "Classic Blue" from the same house, in terms of its pleasant fragrance and good durability, I thought I'd give "The Essence" a chance.

It was undeserved. More than undeserved.
The scent is quite pleasant in itself, smells a little like "Classic Blue" after a few hours (note: directly after spraying on !).

Sillage / Projection are a disaster with "The Essence", you can smell something almost only up close, even directly after the application.
I have never experienced such a weak perfume perception before, not even with the worst dupe misbuying, and I've really got some dud bombs behind more :-(

Even with a very generous "perception is always subjective"-bonus I have to advise against "The Essence", sorry.

I think I got the first bottle from my parents in the early 90s, for Christmas or my birthday.

I liked the scent a lot, and I still like it, even though almost 30 years have passed.
It is in itself a fresh aquate, perhaps "the" fresh aquate of the late 80's / early 90's, in itself not even particularly exciting or outstanding.

But:
There are a handful of timeless creations, of which only one comes along every 10 years, and which, as "timeless" already implies ;-), actually always go.

"Cool Water" is one of those.

If it were a computer game, it would be "Civilization" or "Doom" ;-)
If it were a movie, it would be "Jurassic Park"
If it were a piece of music, then "Sexy" by Westernhagen

... just part of the story.
