Still the king of dating scents?!
Hello dear community,
i have been reading along for a long time and today I have decided to write my first comment on a fragrance that has accompanied and inspired me for 10 years now.
I had my first encounter with La Nuit in 2010 when I visited a department store. I had sprayed several scents on test strips and smelled the openings. When I arrived at home, I smelled the dry downs again. One of these test strips stood out so strongly that I had to know which scent it was. The next day I went back to the store and tested the 3 scents I had as test strips at home. A feeling of joy and relief flowed through my body when I held it in my hands. YSL La Nuit de L'Homme! At that time I didn't know that this fragrance would be with me for the next 10 years.
The opening with bergamot and cardamom are simply heavenly! Here La nuit can also compete with other heavyweights on the perfume market. But what is much more decisive, how does the Dry Down smell? What is promised at the opening can also be kept at the dry down. The tonka bean complements the composition perfectly.
Through my experience with the female sex, La Nuit quickly became the ideal choice for evening dates, bar-restaurant visits and meetings. I have received many positive reactions and compliments for this fragrance!
This all sounds almost too good to be true, doesn't it? There would actually be no catch if YSL hadn't reformulated the scent. As the former owner of the first batch, I can tell you Sillage, durability and overall the depth of the fragrance, were on a completely different level.
My current bottle from 2017 can't reach that anymore. The silage is very weak and the shelf life is not nearly comparable to the 2010 - 2012 batches. Is La Nuit still recommendable?!
10 years ago I would have given my unqualified recommendation to buy La Nuit. This version had it all and was seductive, sexy and attractive, combined with the right performance.
Today La Nuit is still a good fragrance, only lacking in persistence and sillage. If you put it on fresh, e.g. before a date, you have a maximum projection of about 1-2 hours, after that the scent is almost exclusively perceivable from close distance. For a date, therefore, absolutely recommendable, because the compliments - even if not like then - will come.
I will probably not buy a new bottle because of the strong reformulation. What remains are the many great memories that I associate with this fragrance.
