I'd forgotten I took that one until you started talking about ecology. Thank you, you're the best! *hugs*

Well, I don't know of any traditional Welsh dances. :p Plus, it was intended as an homage to the sender more than the perfume itself, and I trust my enthusiasm made up for any lack of authenticity. :) Thanks again!

How's that L'Orientaliste working out for you? I was pleased to notice that it has fairly decent longevity (It should, shouldn't it? After all, it's all basenotes when you think about it.) while its sillage was on the subtle side, which is a good thing for me, personally. No one in the room gets killed and usually I like to keep my pleasures private, anyway.

'Sandalwood squared' - haha, genius!
Something rotten is going it with the english vs. german walls, it seems. I'm pretty sure I posted on your 'english' wall, but it appeared on the german on exclusively...
Anyway, Bois de Ïles was a letdown, too. I'm with you there - it smells like someone's grandmother who's too wealthy for her own good. I bet there's heaps of quality sandalwood in BdÏ, but its structure is a bit like putting like heaps of quality needles in a haystack.
(To me, Cuir de Russie suffers from the same house-specific floral potpourri. The birch tar and orris together make a really nice, rural landscape which kind of reminds me of taking a walk in clayey soil wearing rubber boots. It's only that I'd very much prefer to take my walk without the sugargranny from 31 Rue Cambon.)

My fellow cumin fancier! I don't recall if I've ever recommended Alexander McQueen's Kingdom? It is the King Dom of cumin, but sadly discontinued. I had a decant from a lovely friend years ago, which is now gone, and nothing shows up on Fragrance.net, BeautySpin or in the souks. :( I've made a mental note to keep searching for it, however. Thanks for the comment! xo

Well, how about that!
I've been obsessed with sandalwood-prominent stuff lately myself! Still on the hunt, though. Santal Majuscule was to rosy, Sacred Wood was pickley-vinegary, Tam Dao smelled of the nineties etc.
Have you tried Santal & Basmati by Affinessence?

When I was a kid, there used to be these chewy sweeties shaped like coins and rolled in caster sugar. The flavours were salty liquorice, red generic fruit aroma, yellow generic fruit aroma and green generic fruit aroma. They were called 'Kapteeni Helmix' and 'Kapteeni Salmix' and as far as I can remember, their packaging was ultra-groovy with a picture of the Captain himself - a mustache dude with Napoleon's hat and an airship ...I think.
To me, Daim Blond replicates the smell of those candies flawlessly. Easily in my Lutens' TOP3 and one of the very few I might consider owning.
