The Imprint of a Gentleman
The truth is that I don't know what the original smelled like, nor do I care: It probably couldn't be worn now in public without being declared an olfactory terrorist (times change and society, in general - and fortunately - stinks much less than before, so "beast" projection doesn't proceed anymore).

What I know is the current formulation, and I have to say that it's a true masterpiece.

This fragrance stands out for its class and elegance, as well as its undeniable artistic character.

- To achieve this, what it does is combine that exquisite sophistication with a high manly contrast, something primal and instinctive; That's the artistic legacy that has traveled through time since the original formula.

The result is this legendary creation of Chanel, a benchmark of Jacques Polge's genius (and Demachy) at a time when maximum expressiveness was expected in fragrances.

More Info:

- Easily +10h. Longevity.
- Great projection & Heavy Sillage.
- Mood: For a classy and confident gentleman.
- Scenario & Occasions: Autumn and winter nights, dressed-up. Perfect for formal events and special occasions, especially at night.

So to conclude, remember this idea: Antaeus is the male reincarnation of "Chanel No. 5".

Le Grand Le Male
A superb perfume, probably the best "Le Male" that you can currently buy.

However, it's not the most suitable perfume for the habitual public of JPG fragrances (typically young people, avid for attention and compliments). It's less "playful" and that may cause confusion... ("Does this thing smell like... Leather? And... Sweet? OMG...")

Ok, just wear it and you've got a high quality scent with a truly modern olfactory proposal: It makes a young man more interesting and seductive, and a serious man, more charismatic and appealing.

Sounds good? Well, it smells fantastic.

So you don't need me to tell you its notes, because you can read them, right..? What you need to know, is that it's wonderfully composed and has a beautiful interplay between them.

Longevity: Easily 10h.

Sillage & Projection: 2h average, the rest moderate.

Lifestyle & Mood: This fragrance masterfully contrasts several concepts: manly but sweet,
adult but fun, urban but refined, polite but wild, modern but traditional...

You see it..? It is c.r.e.a.t.i.v.e.

"Le Male Essence de Parfum" is simply what a great "designer" perfume has to be.

The Cursed Masterpiece
I don't give a damn if the fragrance is more than 25 years old, or if the bottle is made of cheap plastic... And I don't even care if a teenager, a housewife or an astronaut like this fragrance or not.

This is a timeless masterpiece, created by Jacques Polge and François Demachy.

... Is there anything else to say?

Indeed, this is the olfactory gem that evokes the scent of vodka and the gothic rose... The cursed one, the underground legend that has reached these days, hidden among forgotten shelves of old perfumeries.

I've read that it has been discontinued, so hurry to get it. I already have some back up bottles...

Projection & Sillage are strong and longevity is very good (7-9h), especially in cold and humid weather.

... Sometimes you read a lot of nonsense in people's reviews. There are some disrespectful guys, some ignorant babble... And some absurd ideas, too. One of them, is that Ungaro III is a fragrance "too masculine".

Really? ... Are you kidding me? Those guys have lost their sense of smell snorting so much sugar overdose. Don't make me laugh! In case you hadn't noticed, we are men, yes... Not a fruit cake.

This fragrance is sophisticated, classy and mysterious... Perfect for dusk and nights. All seasons, all year... And of course, dressed up. ;-)

A new and modern masterpiece
There are things subject to opinion, but there are others that absolutely not... And much of what I have read about this perfume, is simply a lie.

First of all, I got it... So at least, I know perfectly what I am talking about: I don't write a review based on four snorts on a cardboard.

For me - without a doubt -, this perfume is at the highest level of designers quality... And in my honest opinion, one of the best recently launched: the definition of a modern masterpiece.

This perfume is deep and fresh, comforting and modern, creamy and elegant... A highly seductive fragrance. The main player here is musk, wrapped in sophistication, romanticism and mystery.

Characteristics:

- Mood: Sensual, seductive, elegant, classy.

- Projection: Moderate. At the opening, it has the length of an arm ( 10h.

This scent acts as a deep cloud of refined musky aroma around you, for a looooong time.

... So if you really know the perfume, in no way will you believe the words of someone saying that it doesn't last:

Possibilities:

- 1: The guy in question simply hasn't been tried the true perfume.

- 2: It's a simple lie.

- 3: His nose doesn't work or is broken; I have read that some people are not able to detect the smell of musk well, but I don't know if this is really true.

- 4: Maybe his body odor is so smelly that it exceeds the perfume; musk is a "bass" smell (making an analogy with sound), which can be completely masked with body odor, if it is excessive.

... But if you are a clean and neat person, this would not be a problem, right..?

NOTE:

It should be noted that this EDP version it is quite different from the EDT, which is the one that has a slight resemblance to TdH & Declaration. That doesn't happen in this EDP, although the versions still maintain some common DNA.

Between the two, I prefer the EDP: It's more elegant, more seductive and lasts longer, but the EDT hits and projects more in the opening, if you're looking for that. It's different... But a solid fragrance, too.

Cool Sea Breeze
After using it intensively, I think that I can make a more precise summary of this proposal:

This is a fresh fragrance clearly reminiscent of the sea breeze; think about being on board a yacht, gently swaying in the waves... That's the idea.

In addition, there is a charming grapefruit "floating in the breeze" and leading us through the marine olfactory experience. It has some synthetic notes, but it must also be said that they're of great quality and smell wonderful.

Its flanker - "L'Eau Super Majeure d'Issey" - is very similar, but more woody and intense. Instead, this one is better for hotter days.

- Longevity: +/- 8h.
-Projection & Sillage: Good. It'll be noticed, but it won't bother.
- Mood: Refreshing, relaxing and revitalizing.
- Scenario & Lifestyle: Excellent for hot days (office & outings); it's one of the best I've found for that (but for not-so-warm days I slightly prefer "L'Eau Super Majeure d'Issey").

Conclusion: A fresh, modern and addictive scent. It's cool and appealing... But sophisticated: There's no "generic sugary potion" here.

A great aquatic fragrance. I love it.
